Chapter 15 About Tiana

Margaret wanted to enter the entertainment industry, didn't she?

She would never allow it!

Stephanie could feel her mood getting uplifted by just imagining Margaret's miserable expression.

Sandra saw the change in Stephanie's expression from the corner of her eye and could not help but feel uneasy because of it.

She didn't expect Stephanie to use this method to mess with a newcomer.

She noticed that both of them shared the same last name, Simons. She pondered about the nature of their relationship.

However, this was not something she needed to think about.

"Miss Simons, about Tiana's character..." Sandra began talking.

Stephanie's mouth curved slightly. "I am the main character in Ancient Star. The Simons family also invested in this play. If Margaret is rejected for this role, I will get my father to propose the artists you are in charge of to play this role." she said.

"Thank you, Miss Simons." Sandra said with a smile.

It was indeed beneficial to have a strong family background. As the daughter of the Simons family, even though Stephanie was not very popular in the entertainment circle, her resources were great. Margaret couldn't blame others for losing her role. She could only blame herself for not having a rich father like Stephanie did.

Margaret pushed open the door of the private room at the Emperor Hotel.

Margaret saw a few middle-aged men sitting inside. They should be the investors of the short movie.

Sandra and another girl were among the crowd of men, but she did not see the other Ancient Star actors or crew members.

Margaret felt that something was amiss.

The man everyone was centred around looked at Margaret with a sly smile.

"Say hi to Mr. Andrew." Sandra pushed Margaret forward.

Margaret's eyes were cold. "Hi, Mr. Andrew, I'm Margaret." She greeted the man.

"Oh Maggie, come, come. Have a drink with me." Mark smiled happily.

"Mr. Andrews is asking for you. Hurry up and go." Sandra glared at her.

"Miss Lance, why am I attending the investors' meeting?"

"Why do you care? In the entertainment industry, you have to learn to talk less and work more. Do you think you are already good enough just because you passed the audition? Mr. Andrews is the second major investor of the Ancient Star. If you offend him, you will lose your role!" Sandra snapped.

Margaret frowned slightly.

Sandra handed Margaret a glass of red wine and urged her to go to him, "Hurry up."

Sandra pushed her towards Mr. Andrews.

"Maggie, you look even more gorgeous when you are close to me." Mark raised his glass and looked at Margaret with an intention-filled gaze.

Margaret felt goosebumps all over her body.

However, in order to avoid offending the investor, she had to do her best to keep him happy. "Mr. Andrews, you also look very young." she complimented him.

"Is that so? I think so too. I'm much more attractive than those young male idols." he replied.

Margaret smiled quietly. Mr. Andrew's head was close to being bald. The corners of her mouth twitched when she saw the few strands of hair left on his head. "Maggie, why aren't you drinking?" Mark asked.

Margaret had no choice but to take a sip.

Sandra, who was standing close by saw Mark and Margaret's exchanges. She smiled, thinking to herself that her plan had succeeded.

On the other side of the room, Margaret couldn't shake the feeling that something was off, and that the room had a strange atmosphere about it.

Mark kept tooting on his own horn while the people around him showered him with flattery.

Margaret then started to feel very warm.

She frowned and thought, "Did they not turn the air-conditioner on?"

Mark seemed to notice that something was wrong with Margaret. He asked in a concerned tone, "Maggie, are you not feeling well? Would you like me to help take a look at you?"
