Honeybee -
Chapter 48
Chapter 48
Journal Entry
After a busy few weeks, we have finally established a comfortable home, in my old house of all places. We have built a secure fence around the perimeter and I’ve installed booby traps around the entire property. They won’t stop the Screamers but they will certainly let us know they are coming, giving us a bit of time to prepare. But sometimes that’s not the case, as we discovered yesterday. We were ambushed by a group of them while fetching water from the stream. I killed a few of them but got too tired to fight, so I ran. Luckily the Doc came up with a plan and killed off the rest of them. Just proves that we must always keep our guard up as we can be attacked at any time.
Amanda and the Doc are good people and I’m glad we have been thrown together in all of this mess. Myles keeps us entertained and seems to understand our loneliness, I’m so happy that we brought him with us.
We hope to replace other survivors, we have signs around the town and some on the country roads. When we are more established, we will go out and look around the other local towns and cities.
The best news, amazing news in fact, is that this morning we discovered a honeybee buzzing around the window. We can’t replace a hive but it’s encouraging to know that the bees are coming back. This could be a turning point in all of this. It may just be a stray bee but it’s been almost two years since the outbreak and we haven’t seen any until today.
We will continue to survive. We will continue to search for survivors and provide them with a safe home. And we will continue to track down and defeat the Screamers until this is all over.
Writing this journal helps to keep me sane. Thank you for being my friend through these hard times.
My name is Jason Lambert, and I hunt Screamers…
