I Am Unstoppable -
Chapter 438
Chapter 438
“I lost!” Skylar said after taking a deep breath.
Jonathan also heaved a small sigh of relief. “Does that mean we can leave now?”
“Of course!” Skylar nodded. Then, he told Ducson, “Bring some food for them.”
Ducson acknowledged his command in a respectful tone.
Since his injuries were not that serious, he had recovered significantly. He was also looking atJonathan with awe in his eyes.
Just then, Moose said, “I still don’t know your name.”
“This is merely a chance encounter. It’s better if neither of us knows the other’s name,” Jonathanresponded with a faint smile while glancing at him. In truth, it was because he had no wish to haveanything more to do with those people.
Smiling, Moose replied, “Your martial art skills are incredible. It’s truly impressive. Supreme Sect lackspeople like you. Should you be willing to join our sect, I can recommend you to Theos.”
“Aren’t you afraid I’m a spy or something?” Jonathan asked.
“Theos is supreme. No one would dare to deceive her. As for me, I’m merely responsible forrecommending talented people like you to her,” came Moose’s reply.
That set Jonathan’s mind whirring. I’ve realized that Supreme Sect is no ordinary sect. Since this deityTheos possesses such far-reaching powers, she might be able to help me replace Mabel and the others. Infact, she might even be able to help me go back!
Thinking that he should not be so cold and distant, he immediately said, “It’s my honor that you’d thinkso highly of me. My name is Jonathan Lawson, and this is Yeverie. It’s true that we’re from the mainworld. We got separated from our companions while on our way here.”
After a brief pause, he continued, “Would it be possible for us to seek Theos’ assistance in locating ourcompanions and returning to the main world?”
A look of surprise flashed across Moose’s eyes. He contemplated briefly before answering, “If the twoof you are indeed from the main world, then Theos must surely be interested in you. She can also learnabout the main world’s existence from you. As for helping with the search for your companions andyour return to the main world, that’s a small favor to ask.”
“However, we won’t have much chance to help Supreme Sect with anything,” said Jonathan.
“The mysteries of the main world are highly classified, and getting the chance to learn about them is agreat privilege. As long as neither of you deceives us, I believe Theos would be happy to help.”
Jonathan was conflicted. He did not know whether he could trust them. At the same time, anopportunity lay before him that he did not want to miss. After mulling over the matter, he replied, “I’mwilling to stay. I’m just not sure whether the others would welcome me.”
“You’re an opponent worthy of admiration. I hope to get to know you more and learn from you.” Skylarwas the first to respond. Although he was arrogant, he revered those who were capable.
“We welcome you, of course!” Ducson chimed in.
The other Golden Knights also expressed their enthusiasm.
Since Moose and Skylar had made their sentiments clear, naturally, the knights would not contradictthem.
“In that case, thank you for your hospitality.” Jonathan bowed with his arms over his chest.
“I suppose you could say we wouldn’t have gotten to know each other if we hadn’t exchanged blows,”Moose remarked with a smile. Then, he added, “Come, Jon. Let’s talk inside the tent.”
After saying that, he gestured for Jonathan to enter.
Jonathan took Yeverie’s hand and followed them into the tent.
Turning the matter over in his mind, he thought of several possibilities. One of them was that Moosestill felt embarrassed, so he wanted to lull Jonathan and Yeverie into a false sense of security, then killthem when the time was right.
Jonathan felt that was highly likely, thinking Moose must at least want to know whether they were reallyfrom the main world.
If that were so, however, why did Jonathan still agree to stay?
One of the reasons was he wanted to use Moose to meet with Supreme Sect’s deity, Theos.
Another possibility, which Jonathan thought was even more probable, was that Moose genuinelywanted to recruit him.
It was a gut instinct, and his instinct trumped his rationality. My gut instinct has always been accurate.Despite how arrogant these people behave, I can tell they’re not the type for plots and schemes.
The tent was quite spacious, and a carpet covered the ground. In the middle stood a copper furnacewith a fire burning brightly inside it.
However, he could not help feeling puzzled when he did not see any fuel in the furnace. “How is the firein the copper furnace burning?”
Moose chuckled. “That’s just a little magic. It’s a spell called Fireball. As a Light Magician, however, Idon’t know how to cast that spell. I asked the sect’s elders to come up with it, and we only use it forwarmth and cooking in the wilderness.”
Realization dawned on Jonathan.
It was so warm and toasty inside the tent that Jonathan and Yeverie instantly felt as though they hadreturned to the main world.
Nonetheless, neither of them dared to let their guard down.
Over on the other side was a table with something bubbling away in a pot on top of it. Inside the potwas a hearty lamb stew filled with meat, and next to it were some small loaves of bread.
The sight of the appetizing food made Jonathan’s mouth water, and Moose said knowingly, “Have aseat.”
Skylar also motioned for him to sit down.
Seeing that, Jonathan and Yeverie sat down without hesitation.
Moose proceeded to take out a flask of wine and personally poured them all a glass each. Ducson alsojoined them at the table.
“You’re an honored guest who has come from afar. Here’s a toast to you!” Moose raised his glass anddowned his drink in one go after speaking.
Skylar and Ducson also followed suit.
Without saying anything, Jonathan did the same with Yeverie. I’m absolutely certain it’s not poisonedwine. I can tell by its smell. Besides, they didn’t have time to poison it.
That dinner was the most delicious meal Jonathan had ever enjoyed in his entire life. The lamb stewsmelled slightly gamey, but it did not matter.
And although Jonathan had thought to be on his guard around Moose and the others, that no longermattered either compared to the tasty food.
Meanwhile, Yeverie also tucked in with gusto.
Jonathan ate three loaves of bread, dipping them in the steaming hot lamb stew. The taste was utterlyindescribable, especially since they were having it in the freezing cold.
Even Yeverie could not stop herself from finishing two loaves of bread.
Both of them felt satiated and content at the end of the meal.
Jonathan could not deny that a large part of the reason he had been willing to stay was because hehad been starving. Otherwise, Yeverie and I wouldn’t have followed them here just like that.
After eating, Skylar and Moose wanted to have a long chat with Jonathan. Skylar was interested inadvice related to martial arts cultivation. As for Moose, he was curious about some of the situations inthe main world.
Even though Moose did not necessarily believe everything Jonathan said, he still wanted to hear aboutit.
Ducson also sat down with them after clearing away the dishes.
Inside the warm tent, Yeverie soon fell asleep while leaning against Jonathan’s shoulder.
Skylar piped up first and said, “Mr. Lawson, those gloves of yours are truly amazing. Could I have alook at them?”
Moose furrowed his brows at the question. He thought that Skylar’s request was too reckless as thetrust between them and Jonathan was not yet at that level.
Jonathan was momentarily stunned. Then, he smiled and said, “No problem.”
After saying that, he took the Dragon Binding Gloves out of his spatial ring and passed them to Skylar. He trusted that the latter did not harbor any ulterior motives. If this guy is really plotting something, hewouldn’t have acted so impulsively.
In fact, Skylar’s request made Jonathan feel he was not that annoying anymore. There was even a hintof childishness in the former’s personality. It could also be described as innocence.
No sooner had Skylar uttered those words than he, too, felt that his request was rather unreasonable. However, Jonathan voluntarily agreeing to his request took him a little by surprise. At the same time, itled him to have an even better impression of Jonathan.
That is how trust works between two people. There has to be someone willing to open up and bevulnerable first.
Skylar studied the Dragon Binding Gloves carefully. However, Moose was more interested inJonathan’s spatial ring and said, “That ring of yours seems very similar to our storage rings. Could it bethat such things exist in the main world too?”
“My ring is called a spatial ring. There’s a space within it, so one can indeed store some things insideit.”
Moose nodded. “May I take a look at it?”
Jonathan could not help feeling frustrated at his request, but he could not refuse. At this point, it’sbetter if every single one of them trusts me. Hence, he promptly smiled graciously and said, “Of
course.”
Slipping off the spatial ring, he handed it to Moose.
Jonathan was confident that the quality of his spatial ring was different from theirs and that Moosewould believe him even more after examining it. It was his way of gradually deepening the trustbetween them.
Moose took the spatial ring and examined it. He even used light elements to check the ring’s internalstructure.
After a while, his expression shifted. As he returned the ring to Jonathan, he said, “Our storage ringsare crafted using magic formations and various elements. Yours, however, has a fascinating structure. It contains formations, but they’re certainly not magic formations, nor are there any magic elements. The structure of your ring is much more remarkable.”
Jonathan smiled as he explained, “Spatial rings like mine are extremely rare in the main world. Veryfew people have it. It’s indeed difficult to make, regardless of whether it’s in terms of materials ortechnique. It was also by chance that I came to own this ring.”
Taking another glance at Jonathan, Moose felt his trust toward him increase considerably at thatmoment. With that, Jonathan knew that he had made the right bet.
Having learned from Torrence that the main world remained an unknown and mysterious place toMoranta, he was sure Theos would be very curious about it.
Jonathan knew it would be a significant advantage if he got Moose to introduce him to Theos. At thesame time, however, he was aware that he had become caught in a troublesome situation. I can’t leavenow. Once I do so, that’ll mean I lied. And if that happens, it’ll give these people a reason to gang up
and attack Yeverie and me. I knew from the moment I agreed to stay that I was playing a high-stakesgamble. Nonetheless, with the numerous difficulties lying before us, it’s a gamble I must take.
