Chapter 463 Magic Song
Chapter 463 Magic Song
Jonathan retrieved a magic gem belonging to Moose from his storage ring. The gem emitted a radiantgolden glow and had a translucent appearance. As Jonathan held the gem in his hand, he began toform a connection with it.
It was akin to the sensation of holding a crystal ball, although, unlike a magic gem, it doesn't possessactual magical properties. While a crystal ball allowed one to peer into magic elements in the distantrealm, the magic gem brimmed with Moose's spiritual energy.
Since the spiritual energy in the magic gem served to replenish the spiritual energy within the cerebraldomain, it was expected that both spiritual energies would align. Jonathan quickly became aware of thecontents of the magic gem.
It emanated an extremely concentrated essence of the light element, so dense that it seemed on theverge of solidifying.
If the light elements in the air could be compared to wine, then the essence within the magic gemwould be akin to the purest form of wine, capable of transforming water into wine with a mere drop.
At that moment, realization washed over Jonathan, illuminating his understanding of how spiritualenergy functioned within the cerebral domain.
He comprehended that he needed to produce primal spiritual energy and transform his cerebral domaininto a productive force.
Dragons, by nature, relied on their inner essence ball to achieve this, while humans tapped into theelements within their cerebral domain to manipulate the elements of the external world.
The weight of this realization overwhelmed Jonathan as he became aware of the challenges andcomplexities involved in becoming a skilled magician.
“What's wrong? Is it too difficult?” Torrence couldn't help but inquire, noticing the frown on Jonathan'sface.
Yeverie, too, turned toward Jonathan, concern evident on her face.
Jonathan responded with a bittersweet smile, saying, “Even though the Holy Dragon has taught medragon magic, their physiology differs from ours. My current challenge lies in harnessing the primalspiritual element within my cerebral domain.”
Surprised, Torrence interjected, “I vaguely recall there being a mnemonic chant for novice magicians. Itgained popularity in Moranta.”
Intrigued, Jonathan eagerly inquired, “What chant is that?”
Torrence replied, “It's called the 'Ode to Joy.' It goes like this.” He began to hum the melody. “Magic, magic, so wondrous, so mystical. My mother said I'll understand it all as long as my heart remains pureand kind.”
Jonathan's expression darkened as he wondered if Torrence was merely joking with a nursery rhyme.
However, Jonathan had enough guile to withhold his interruption and let Torrence finish the song.
Torrence continued, “I asked my mother what magic is. She told me that magic is like a seed. If you
carry the essence of magic within your heart, you can unlock the door to its power. That day, I had adream. In my dream, I encountered a seven-tiered pagoda. As I ascended its stairs and reached thecenter, I witnessed a vibrant and sparkling starry sky. I leaped into the sky and found myselfsurrounded by an array of colors, and some were demons, others were angels. I witnessed bothdelectable feasts and the torments of hell. My mother said that if magic resides within my heart, I willgain access to the gateway of magic.”
Jonathan soon realized that there were hidden messages and insights embedded within the lines of therhyme.
After Torrence finished singing, Jonathan immediately inquired, “What comes next?”
To his surprise, Torrence replied, “That's it!”
“What? You're not joking, are you? How can the song end like that? What does the seven-tieredpagoda represent?” Jonathan bombarded him with questions.
“I don't know. I've never really thought about it. It's just a nursery rhyme that adults often sing to theirchildren to help them fall asleep. You don't seriously believe this rhyme can help you harness primalspiritual energy, do you?” Torrence questioned.
“Of course, don't you see? The meaning behind the dream is to achieve focus and calmness in themind. Visualize the seven-tiered pagoda within your thoughts, and imagine ascending its stairs. Itsymbolizes the ascent of the human spirit. When you reach the top, you take a leap. Do youunderstand what that leap signifies?” Jonathan responded.
“What?” Torrence was taken aback by Jonathan's rapid questioning.
Yeverie, too, was bewildered by the sudden intensity of the conversation.
Jonathan rubbed his forehead and explained, “Torrence, I can't believe how dense you are! That's whyI'm the chosen one, and you're just an observer. The leap signifies the out-of-body experience.”
Torrence was left speechless. “Fair point.”
Jonathan then engaged in deep contemplation, realizing the potential dangers of attempting an out-of-body experience in the main world where elements were absent. However, it seemed to him that hecould potentially safeguard his spirit using his close bond with the elements over in Moranta.
“That means I don't really have to understand the meaning of the seven-tiered pagoda. I just need tohave an out-of-body experience,” Jonathan lamented.
At that moment, Yeverie spoke up. “Then what does the second part of the rhyme mean? I foundmyself surrounded by an array of colors; some were demons, others were angels. I witnessed bothdelightful feasts and tormenting hells. My mother said that if magic resides within my heart, I will gainaccess to the gateway of magic.”
Stunned, Jonathan replied, “That part means that once your spirit leaves your body, you will enter avulnerable state, where your inner demons will manifest. During this phase, the forces of darkness willattempt to tempt you. If you are not strong enough to resist their lure, you risk losing yourself. Havingmagic in your heart means you must remain steadfast, staying true to your original intention. By doingso, you will be able to access the gateway of magic after absorbing the essence of the elements.”
“You have a keen eye, Mr. Lawson,” Yeverie praised sincerely, a sense of realization washing over her.
Jonathan chuckled modestly and remained silent. He was already familiar with the principles ofcultivating magic, but his immediate challenge was to achieve an out-of-body experience.
The path to mastering magic was intricate and precise, and without proper guidance, one could easilylose themselves in the process.
Fortunately, Jonathan had a solid foundation in internal-style martial arts, which allowed him to learnmagic on his own.
At that moment, Jonathan focused his mind and began to search his memories for everything related todragon magic. He scoured his mental archives, hoping to uncover clues or hints that could shed lighton the out-of-body experience.
Unfortunately, he came up empty-handed.
However, Jonathan was not one to easily admit defeat. Determined, he took a deep breath and settledinto a cross-legged position. With determined focus, Jonathan expanded his thoughts beyond theboundaries of the seven-tiered pagoda, giving free rein to his imagination.
It carried him to the magnificent heights of Mount Goliath, where his vivid mental images transformedinto a tangible reality.
This was one of the remarkable abilities of practitioners of internal-style martial arts, to turn imaginationinto tangible results. For instance, they could train themselves to feel their hair standing on end bysimply visualizing themselves under attack. They also had the power to make their blood automatically
condense when they imagined their hands burned, along with other astonishing feats.
These extraordinary powers were cultivated through the practice of internal-style martial arts.
At that particular moment, Jonathan found himself imagining standing atop Mount Goliath.
He had visited Mount Goliath in the past, unaware of its connection to the Demon Emperor.
On that occasion, he had ascended to the peak of the mountain to witness the breathtaking spectacleof the sunrise, the billowing clouds, and the expansive sea below.
He envisioned himself standing atop the mountain peak, overlooking the abyss below.
He imagined himself rooted in place, unmoving, and with time, he began to sense the genuine feelingof being at the summit of Mount Goliath.
The crisp air brushed against his skin, signaling the reality of his imaginative world. Looking down, hegazed into the abyss, its depths obscured by clouds, leaving the mystery of what lay below.
With one more step, he teetered on the edge of the abyss, facing the possibility of falling and shatteringinto countless fragments. Yet, Jonathan was not one to retreat. Determined and resolute, he clenchedhis teeth and summoned the courage to take a leap of faith.
And in that exhilarating moment, a sensation of weightlessness enveloped him as if he had become aslight as a feather.
It was an extraordinary and awe-inspiring experience. Following this ethereal transition, Jonathan felt
as if he was traversing through the vastness of the sea, the undulating waves making it difficult for himto maintain his balance.
He was fully immersed in the out-of-body experience he had sought.
However, Jonathan understood the importance of remaining vigilant and not letting his guard down. There was no time for jubilation or celebration. He swiftly composed himself and summoned his innerstrength to ground himself.
After what felt like an eternity, Jonathan glanced downward and discovered that he was indeedsuspended in mid-air; while his physical body remained seated in a cross-legged position on theground.
Jonathan recognized that achieving an out-of-body experience in the main world was not a simple task. The physical body and the spirit were intricately intertwined in that realm. However, in this etherealstate, things seemed much more straightforward. The external world appeared less daunting from thisvantage point.
In the main world, the magnetic fields, particles, and various substances were akin to sharp blades, capable of instantly extinguishing a detached spirit.
Jonathan redirected his thoughts and focused on other matters as he gathered his senses andsurveyed his surroundings.
As anticipated, the elements surrounding him began to radiate with vibrant and diverse colors.
As the elements floated around him, Jonathan maintained an unwavering focus on his original
intention, ensuring that his inner demons had no power to sway his thoughts.
Suspended in the ethereal realm, he sensed a profound connection with the elements that surroundedhim, a connection that stemmed from his identity as an Omni-Element Magician.
Silencing his mind and attuning himself to the subtle emotions emanating from the elements, Jonathansought out a floating light element that caught his attention.
With deliberate intention, he centered his thoughts and began to forge a deep connection with the lightelement.
The light element exuded emotions that were pure and untainted. As an Omni-Element Magician,Jonathan possessed the ability to communicate with these light elements. Sensing his intention toabsorb their essence, the light element swiftly moved toward him. In turn, the surrounding lightelements gathered around Jonathan's ethereal form, gradually blending with his spirit.
As the light elements permeated his being, Jonathan experienced a profound sensation of warmth andcontentment, enveloped in a soothing and comforting embrace.
Before long, he had absorbed all the available light elements present in the surrounding space. Hesensed his spirit being embraced by the light elements, giving rise to a radiant sphere of light withinhim.
This sphere of light revolved slowly, reminiscent of the Earth's rotation on its axis.
Intuitively aware of the forthcoming events, Jonathan abruptly opened his eyes.
In that very instant, his physical body exerted a powerful force, forcefully drawing his spirit back into itsvessel.
Jonathan sensed the presence of the spinning sphere of light within his mind, embodying the trueessence of the light elements.
It served as a potent catalyst and communicator.
“How is it?” Torrence and Yeverie anxiously inquired, concerned.
Jonathan extended his hand and attempted to manifest his conviction, harnessing what could bereferred to as spiritual energy.
Having absorbed all the available light elements in the surrounding air, he understood that lightelements were abundant, akin to the air one breathes. As long as the space they occupied was notcompletely sealed, new air would replenish the room once the existing air had been depleted.
With unwavering focus, Jonathan concentrated his efforts on forming a sphere of light in his palm.
Therefore, at that moment, a wondrous phenomenon unfolded.
A golden sphere of light began to materialize in Jonathan's grasp.
