“What about now?” asked Catherine.

With profound affection, Jonathan replied, “Catherine, I love you. I love you so much.” He chuckledafter speaking, adding, “I can't believe I'd utter such cheesy words.”

Catherine's face radiated happiness as she replied, “Same here. I believed I would live a solitary lifeforever. I never thought I could fall for someone since I assumed I was incapable of feigning emotionsor connecting with others. But then, I met you.”

With a hint of curiosity, Jonathan suddenly asked, “Why do you treat me so differently?”

Catherine responded, “During our time on the Divine Realm's solitary island for the assessment, youdidn't utter a word, but I could sense it. You were contemplating sacrificing yourself for my well-being.”

Jonathan was slightly surprised at that remark. He smiled and said, “You were aware of that?”

Catherine pouted slightly, saying, “I'm not a fool, you know.”

Jonathan voiced, “Did that mark the moment you stopped disliking me?”

Catherine nodded before replying, “I just want you to know that I'm incapable of loving anyone else.You're all I got, so you can't abandon me.”

Jonathan's lips met hers as he murmured, “You can't possibly fathom how important you are to me.You're the very essence of my existence, and I'd give my life to shield you.” Pausing, he continued, “Irealize this might sound clichéd, but words can hardly capture the depth of my emotions for you.”

“I understand,” said Catherine.

With a gentle smile, Jonathan leaned in and kissed Catherine on the lips.

After a while, Jonathan held Catherine in his arms but made no further move.

“Why did you stop?” Catherine asked, looking puzzled. “You can do anything to me. I'm your wife.”

“It won't bring you pleasure,” Jonathan assured. After a momentary pause, he continued, “Furthermore,our moments together are not always abundant. I want you to relish this precious time with a tranquilheart.”

“But it'll make you happy, right?” said Catherine.

“Let's discuss it tomorrow. Today, I simply want to hold you like this. It surpasses all my desires,”Jonathan replied tenderly.

Catherine chose to remain silent, replaceing comfort in the embrace of Jonathan's arms.
