"I came to see you," Eva replied.

She walked over and sat across from him at his gesture. The

two of them looked at each other, like relatives who hadn't seen each other for long, and their eyes gradually turned red. "Ryan, how have you been in the past year?" Eva broke the silence in a caring tone as if she were talking to her brother. "I've been doing okay," Ryan replied, closing the book in his hand and placing it on the nearby table. some into a teacup and handed it to Eva.

"I broke off the engagement," he said briefly without any explanation.

Eva understood. She took the cup and paused for a while. "Ryan, are you lying to Amelia just so she won't feel guilty?"
