I Once Married You (Harper and Benjamin) -
Chapter 294
Chapter 294 Hurt Me
She didn't believe it had anything to do with Kimberly or the Mitchell family, thinking, "Even though the Mitchell family really hasn't been very nice to me, at least they won't hurt me, right?" Harper frowned, looking very serious.
She shook her head and whispered to Benjamin, "I need a little time to calm down."
Benjamin nodded and watched her stand up. She was ready to go back to the bedroom. But she suddenly thought of Angie's words and finally chose to go to the balcony in the living room. Benjamin looked indifferent, and his tone was a little low. To Curtis, he said, "Keep an eye on her. I'll see her anytime."
"Yes, Mr. Martin."
Benjamin hung up the phone straight away, his face cold and sullen.
Benjamin gave Harper ten minutes to calm down. Estimating that the time was almost up, he got up and walked out. He watched Harper huddle up against the recliner with little energy and leaned over to touch her head. He said, "What are you thinking?"
"I still can't imagine that this has anything to do with the Mitchell family. Benjamin, do you think I'm getting my hopes up for them or is there some kind of misunderstanding here?"
The Mitchell family knew she was pregnant. If they did something to hurt her while knowing she was pregnant, it would not only turn Harper against them but the Martin family as well.
Benjamin frowned. "Curtis will keep looking into it. How things really are will surely be found out."
Harper nodded. Benjamin told her to go inside and rest. But just as she stood up, she lost her balance and passed right out.
Harper woke up to replace her in the ward.
As soon as she opened her eyes, she sat up from the bed and looked around. Benjamin was standing in front of the window, answering the phone. When he saw her wake up, he immediately hung up the phone and walked over to her. "How are you feeling? Is there anything uncomfortable?"
"What happened to me?"
"You fainted, but you're already fine. The doctor said it was just caused by your lack of rest combined with stress."
"Benjamin, am I really okay?"
"Yes, you're fine," Benjamin answered, looking her in the eye specifically to convince her. Harper lifted the covers and tried to get out of bed. "I don't want to stay in the hospital."
"Harper," Benjamin stopped her and said in a somewhat hoarse voice, "the doctor said you need to be hospitalized for two days for observation. Since you've been taking some medication, you're going to have a full checkup to see if it's hurting the baby."
"Medication?"
"Angie put some pills in your meals that would cause deformities in the baby and make you hallucinate. But you've had a bad appetite for the past two days and haven't eaten much. So it doesn't seem to be causing any harm so far. But to be on the safe side, the doctor has scheduled a more thorough examination. You'll need to stay in the hospital for two days for observation before you can be discharged, okay?"
Benjamin hadn't planned on telling Harper the truth, but the results of the doctors initial examination when Harper had just been brought to the hospital had made Benjamin
gloomy. At that moment, he avel.
let Curtis bring the Mitchell family over. In the end, it took a great deal of effort to control his impulses and anger.
Fortunately, her condition didn't seem very serious at the moment. But the baby in her belly was in a developmental stage, and that had him worried.
So he couldn't hide it from Harper because Harper was the one who had the most direct contact with the baby, and she was the first to sense the signs of good and bad.
Harper was stunned for a long time. Her voice was shaking. "The baby's going to be okay, right?"
"Of course! I promise you. The baby will be fine. And Yinson's back. You'll be fine with him."
Yinson was the doctor trusted by the Martin family and a leading expert in medicine. With him, all would be fine.
Harper spent two days in the hospital. The news was kept secret from everyone.
Those two days were the most torturous for her.
Harper was worried about the baby and that it had something to do with the Mitchell family.
So she was stuck in a death spiral and kept asking herself over and over in her mind, "What should I do if it really was the Mitchell family that did this?"
