Immortals Of Byolla Bay
Chapter 7 – Kinsley

The fog is so thick it was almost tangible. I couldn’t see what was in front of me, but I kept walking for some reason. It was like I was being magnetically drawn to something buried in the midst. Suddenly I seen orbs of light flicker ahead in the distance. There was yelling and sounds of a scuffle. When I got closer I could see the outline of water and a vessel of some type being loaded up with men. The orbs of light, I could see clearly now, we’re lit torches carried by these big, burly men who were dressed like soldiers from the early 14th century. As I got closer I seen the vessel was actually a long ship that Vikings were said to have used. Those men must be Vikings and they must be about to raid some poor unsuspecting village! I have to warn them! I turned to run, but one of the Vikings caught my eye. He was about 6 foot 3, bleach blonde hair and emerald green eyes. It was Rikki.

The sound of my alarm tore me from my weird dream. Why was I dreaming of Rikki as a dirty, disgusting Viking, when he is clearly a gorgeous new teenager to this town? Hopefully he won’t be attracted to the popular, beautiful girls at school. Yeah, right. I need to go ahead and be prepared for every girl in a 5 mile radius of Rikki throwing their selves at him. Boys like him don’t go for girls like me. They only sit next to me when they need to cheat off my test paper.

I slowly got out of bed just as my mom knocked on the door. She came in looking dead tired, “Hey baby girl. Love you, have a good day at school. I’ll see you tonight.” She kissed me on the forehead and said something about grabbing a pop tart for breakfast before she left.

I smiled and headed to the bathroom where I started the water for my shower. About 30 minutes later I walked back into my room, smelling like my strawberry and honey shampoo, and fished around in my closet for jeans and a shirt. A thought crossed my mind of actually dressing up for Rikki, but then I realized I would always be expected to look like that and being pretty takes too much effort. I also don’t want him to know I dressed up just for him when he sees me in jeans and a t-shirt tomorrow. I’d probably die of embarrassment like I wanted to last night when I crashed into him while running from the woods screaming away from probably a chipmunk.

I noticed my ring from grandma still on the dresser and I put it back on. I heard mom close the front door and a few minutes later I heard her car pull out of the driveway. That was my cue to grab my book bag, head to the kitchen to eat and finish homework I didn’t do last night because that boy was clouding my mind plus also apparently haunting my dreams.

While waiting on my Pop tart to brown in the toaster, I finished algebra and put my book away. My thoughts instantly returned to Rikki. I’ve never had a boy stay on my mind like this and I don’t like it because I know today he will meet all the beautiful girls at our school and definitely not be interested in hanging out with a nobody like me.

I was just putting the last bite of pop tart in my mouth when there was a knock on my door. It was probably Meshella wanting to tell me in person about how her dress shopping went last night. When I opened up the door I gasped and jumped a little like an idiot. It was him. He was wearing faded denim jeans and a blue striped shirt that showed off his biceps, which were well sculpted.

He smiled shyly, ” Hello Kinsley. I am sorry to drop by unannounced, but I was wondering if we could walk to school together. I was hoping you could maybe show me around if we have time.”

This bleach blonde god wants to be seen in public with me? He just hasn’t seen the rest of the female population here is all. But anytime I get to spend with him I’m taking it. He raised his perfectly shaped eyebrows at me signaling he was waiting for a response, and I cursed myself silently for standing there with my mouth open in awe of him.

I nodded, “Okay, sure. Let me grab my bag and we can go. We have to walk unfortunately though. I don’t have a car.” He grinned, “That’s fine with me. I like to walk. It gives me more time to get to know you.”
