“Okay. Alright. I got it. I'll take note of it,” Kai interrupted to stop Mr.Yue's nagging.

Meanwhile, just as Skylar was about to sleep, her phone screen lit up,notifying her of a text on WhatsApp. Her body shivered in anticipationas she swiped across her screen.

The last time she felt that sweet feeling of anticipation was years ago.That time, when she was done with her assignments, she would switchoff the lights and get to bed at eight-thirty at night with her phone inher hand. There were no instant messaging apps then; the phone wasonly used for text messages and phone calls. Jeremy would always giveher a call at that time to catch up.

Time flew by so quickly. She never expected that she would end upwaiting for someone else now.

Before Tobias hung up the call earlier, he told Skylar that he was goingto attend a meeting. As such, she thought that the message must befrom him informing her that the meeting had ended.

However, when she saw that it was a notification from Kai adding her asa friend on WhatsApp, she was slightly disappointed. He must havegotten my contact number from the workgroup’s WhatsApp groupchat.

And here I am, thinking that it was from Tobias...

She added Kai's number to her contacts too. His profile picture was acool-looking purebred Husky.

“KaiKaiKai" was Kai's display name on WhatsApp.

“KaiKaiKai": This is my number. Hey, did you know you can star acontact? That way, I'll always be at the top of your contact list.

Skylar had no idea that WhatsApp had that kind of function nor did shecare.

Skylar: If there's nothing else, I'm going to sleep. Good night.“KaiKaiKai": Wait, we haven't even started chatting yet. I want to shareall my WhatsApp stickers with you. You can save them for future use.With that, her WhatsApp was soon flooded with sticker packs that Kaisent. However, she did not add them because Tobias did not like itwhen she sent him stickers on WhatsApp previously.

“KaiKaiKai": Hey! @Skylar where are you? Do you need help?

As the soft moonlight shone through the windows, Skylar let out ahuge yawn. She thought back to Tobias’ request earlier and felt hercheeks heating up. She hid under her blanket to relive that moment.Skylar's phone kept lighting up throughout the night while she wassoundly asleep. The next day, she was rudely awakened by someoneknocking on her door. She checked her phone to replace a whole lot ofmessages from Kai.

The man in question was currently knocking on her door. Once Skylaropened the door, Kai rushed into the toilet.

“Have you had your breakfast yet?” Kai asked while he was in the toilet.“I was just woken up by you. Of course I haven't had breakfast yet. I'llreplace some random place nearby to grab a bite later.”

Afraid that Skylar could not hear him, Kai said loudly, “Now, now, wecan't have that. I have some extra bread. I'll get them for you later.”Skylar felt uneasy changing her clothes in the room with Kai around, soshe urged, “Are you done? I need to wash up and change my clothes.”Kai intentionally flushed the toilet on the high-pressure mode to showSkylar that he really needed to use the toilet.

On their way to the film site, Skylar stayed a distance behind Kai.

They were giving out croissants and soy milk for breakfast.

Kai took three cucumber sandwiches for Skylar.

“Here, I got you some cucumber sandwich.”

Skylar hated cucumber sandwiches. Miranda used to feed hercucumber sandwiches daily, so she got sick of them as she grew up.She shook her head and rejected, “No thanks. I'm watching my weight.”Kai gave her a once-over before he said, “You're already skinny enough,so why are you still on a diet? Don't you know that girls who have somemeat on them are the prettiest?”

Skylar got a feeling of déja vu upon hearing Kai's words as Tobias hadsaid the same thing as well.
