Skylar asked, “My uncle was fired from the factory and can't replace a jobnow. Is this your doing?”

Tobias was silent for a while before changing the subject. “It's rare forme to leave the company so early. You must be hungry. Come, I'll takeyou to dinner! What do you feel like eating? Or do you wanna buysomething back to cook?”

Skylar did not prod further. What can I do even after getting theanswer? Accuse Tobias of being too ruthless in his punishment?

“Let's eat at home. I'll cook for you. What do you feel like eating...”Skylar looked at the time and found that it was almost six.

“I'm fine with anything you cook.” Tobias did not make any requests. Hewas never a picky eater, anyway, his priority had always been to fill hisbelly.

He brought Skylar to the supermarket to buy the ingredients sheneeded for cooking.

In the past, Skylar had always envied couples shopping in thesupermarket. The man would push the cart while the woman wouldcarefully select the ingredients. Then, they would go home togetherand cook.

In her mind, shopping for groceries with the person she loved was sucha happy feeling.

However, Skylar was not lucky enough to feel this happiness becauseTobias kept answering his phone while pushing the cart with one hand.Tobias was speaking in fluent French. Even though Skylar could notunderstand the language, she could tell that Tobias was not in a goodmood from his furrowed brows.

Skylar chose what she needed and gestured to Tobias, asking if he wasdone.

Tobias hung up the call and said apologetically, “Sorry for the long call.Have you gotten everything you need?”

Skylar nodded, motioning at the shopping cart that was piled high withvarying items.

Tobias bent to rummage through the cart. “You didn't get the mostimportant thing! I don't wanna have to go out to buy condoms whenwe're already in the thick of things.”

Skylar's heart skipped a beat. Indeed, they had used up the last boxyesterday night.

Tobias really had a ravenous appetite for sex. Under normalcircumstances, she would never get the chance to have a peaceful sleepat night.

There were boxes of condoms on the shelves by the checkout counter.Without a second thought, Tobias took a few boxes that were zero onesizes.

Skylar lowered her voice and asked, “Is this one very comfortable?”

“I don't like wearing condoms, but you'll worry if I don't. To be honest,they're not very comfortable,” Tobias replied.

Even so, Skylar was unwilling to compromise on this. She still had herown bottom line.

She wasn't sure whether Tobias would take responsibility for the child ifshe were to get pregnant someday.

In a way, he was like sand to her because she would never have theconfidence to hold onto him.

“It seems like my son hasn't been very busy lately, seeing as he left thecompany so early to shop for groceries with a woman.” Claudia studiedthem coldly.

Claudia had already seen Tobias grabbing the condoms earlier.

Tanya was also present and had her arm linked with Claudia’s. Theyeven had some bodyguards in casual clothes behind them, depicting avery grand sight.

Skylar immediately released Tobias’ hand just as the air around themwent still.

Skylar greeted softly, “Mrs. Ford...”

“Don't you dare talk to me,” Claudia lashed out.

She took out a box of condoms from the cart and said in a voicetrembling with anger, “Tanya is pregnant with your child, but you're stillfooling around with another woman every night. You even have themood to go grocery shopping with her. Tobias Ford, how long are yougoing to keep bullying Tanya? How did I ever give birth to a son likeyou? In the past, I've always turned a blind eye to the things you did,but this is too much.”

Tobias frowned deeply as his mother seethed with anger while Tanyahad put on an aggrieved look on her face with tears pooling in hereyes.

He found it embarrassing that his mother had aired their dirty laundryin public.

A crowd had formed around them. Since they only heard one side ofthe story, all of them assumed that he had done something despicable.Indeed, he had done his fair share of shady things, but he was notdespicable to this extent.
