When Skylar brought Pollyanna to the film site, Kate exclaimed, “Wheredid you replace this little girl? Her face is so dirty.”

Skylar was stunned at how desperate Pollyanna wanted to leave.When Kate saw that Skylar was tempted to do so, she shook her headwith a sigh. She felt Skylar hadn't seen enough of the world. There wereloads of pitiful people out there and there was no way she could carefor them all.

Kate explained to Pollyanna with a serious expression, “Your mom is stillaround so we can't take you away no matter how obedient you are.”With tears welling up in her eyes, Pollyanna lowered her head as if shehad done something terribly wrong.

Skylar sighed and added, “I will come and visit often, alright? For today,I'll take you out to the nearby town and buy you some beautiful topsand dresses.”

Pollyanna wiped off her tears in response.

Kate asked Skylar in concern, “Will you be alright taking a child out byyourself? I better come along.”
