He had always planned everything without discussing it with her oreven notifying her in advance.

Tobias didn't introduce her as she tightened her grip on her bag andsat beside him. Also, no one dared to ask what their relationship was.As she quietly sat beside Tobias, he barely said anything to herthroughout dinner. Feeling thirsty, she saw that the glass in front of herwas empty. Furthermore, there was only wine on the table. Hence, shegrabbed a bottle beside Tobias and poured it into her glass.

However, Tobias took her glass away and downed the wine in one gulp.Next, he called for the waiter and ordered a glass of warm fruit juice.Despite the room being cold from the air-conditioning, Skylar was sothirsty that she wanted to have iced fruit juice instead. Warm fruit juicewas simply too sour to her liking.

Other than her, all the other ladies at the table could really drink. Theirmale companions kept refilling their glasses as they kept downing oneglass after another.

One of the girls looked to be of her age and was dressed provocatively.Her plunging neckline was so low that she exposed a substantial part ofher assets. Despite the fact that she was visibly uncomfortable, a man ina blue shirt who was sitting beside her kept urging her to drink.

She tried to protest, “Mr. Crane, can I stop drinking? I can't drinkanymore and I feel terrible.”

The man sneered, “Stop whining. You should be honored that I'masking you to drink. It's only two bottles and you're alreadycomplaining?”

Under such pressure, the girl seemed to be on the brink of tears.Raising her glass, she downed it at one go. Skylar could see her faceturn pale and her hands had begun to tremble.

When she looked at the bottle of liquor on the table, she realized thatits alcohol content was at forty percent. Even a tough guy would havetrouble holding his liquor with the amount the lady drank.

As everyone continued to chat, no one came to the girl's rescue.

They were all talking about business. From Bitcoin to futures and tocrude oil. Everything they talked about revolved around financial gains.The man in blue poured another glass for the girl. He was wearing apair of gold-rimmed glasses and had a clean look on his face. Despitethe gentle exterior, he had an insidious gaze. “Continue drinking. Whyare you stopping?”

The girl was terribly drunk. Holding onto her stomach, her sweat andtears were all mixed together. She slurred as she pleaded, “Mr. Crane, Ireally can't drink anymore.”

Skylar tightened her grip on Tobias’ hand under the table. However,Tobias continued to serve her more food and didn’t look like he wasgoing to help the girl.

Skylar whispered into his ear. “Why are all the men bullying the ladies.Is this what you consider as fun?”

Tobias’ gaze darkened as he stared at the indignant Skylar. “Young lady,I brought you here to enjoy a meal together. We will leave when we'redone. Anything else has nothing to do with you.”

Skylar was extremely upset at Tobias for asking her to join such adinner. She didn’t understand what was he thinking

It was obvious to her that all the ladies here were not of the decentkind, and she was just one of them

She interceded on the girl's behalf, “She’s not able to drink anymore inthat condition. Are you trying to kill her? Do you have to bully a girl justto satisfy your ego?”

The atmosphere in the private room suddenly changed. The man inblue gave Skylar a complicated look.

He was aware that the one that humiliated him was Tobias’ girl.Regardless of what their actual relationship was, she was still related toTobias. Even if she slapped him, there was nothing he could say.

Tobias got Skylar to sit down and finally spoke. He told Winston, “Don'tlet her drink anymore. We're almost done so that's all for today. If thelady doesn't want to drink, don't force her.”

After Tobias made his stand clear, no one dared to disobey.

Covering her mouth, the girl was obviously in great discomfort. Shelooked as if she could puke or collapse onto the ground anytime. Herforehead was also sweating profusely.
