Skylar's patience was something Kate admired about her.Unfortunately, Tobias didn't satisfy her requests.

She was signed under a small agency that belonged to the Ford Group,but a sudden fee increase offended Tobias.

She was now in an awkward situation.

“I have a commercial shooting that you can try. It is for MM Beans. Ifyou accept the offer, you can go for the casting interview tomorrow.We still need to wait for Daryl's movie because the post-productionafter filming will take quite a while. You don't have any outstandingwork at the moment, so you can only wait for now. This leaves acommercial shooting being the best chance for you right now becauseit allows you to be flexible with your time,” Kate said as if givinghandouts.

“Send me the location and time for tomorrow's interview. I'll go.” Skylardidn't reject, despite it being a small offer. She understood that a minorrole was still a job nonetheless.

Kate really liked Skylar since she was easily satisfied. She would haveput more effort into Skylar if it weren't for her own benefit.

She had given this commercial deal to Amelia before, but she didn'twant it as the products were not high-end. Amelia aimed to be therepresentative of only high-end brands.

They were interrupted by Kate's phone at least five times during theirdiscussion.

Kate sent the address to Skylar. She was afraid of accidentally deletingthe message, so she starred it.

The rain had stopped, and the night air had a refreshing after-rainscent. Skylar zipped up her hoodie as the temperature dropped.

She didn’t want to go back to the hotel so early, so she just took a strollalong the river.

She reached a crossroad that was near a hospital after a while.

She didn't want to go there. That place was a nightmare for her, mainlybecause she was slapped and humiliated in front of bystanders.

In the end, she decided to try her luck, unable to withstand it further.Tobias did mention in the afternoon that he would be at the hospital atnight.

She stood at the entrance of the Cardiology Department and calledTobias on his phone.

Tobias quickly came out from the ward. He was dressed in casual wearas he planned to stay the night, and he just finished showering.

Skylar smiled as soon as she saw him. Her perfect smile and chiseledface attracted a lot of attention and left a long-lasting impression onothers.

“What brings you here?” Tobias beckoned for Skylar to come over to hisside.

“I was taking a stroll outside and reached here eventually. How's yourmom?"

“She's fine. The surgery’s tomorrow. It's late for you to be strolling thestreets alone. Go home early.”

Skylar didn't mention Kate's problem to Tobias. She had assumed thathe couldn't be bothered to be worried about her at this significantmoment.

“I'm leaving now, go back in,” she advised.

Tobias noticed that it was almost half an hour to midnight, so he wasworried about letting her go back alone.

He asked Skylar to wait for him and that he would be back soon.

Skylar took a seat on the bench in the hallway. Tobias had changed intojeans and a round-neck sweater.

The majority of the clothes he wore were in dark tones, as if his lifewere colorless.

Tobias wanted to send her home, but Skylar shook her head andrejected his offer. “I can just call a cab,” she assured.

Tobias was silent briefly, but in the end, he insisted to send her back tothe hotel.

Before she got off his car, he passed a set of keys to her. The keys werefor a house near their place, so she could let Miranda stay there.However, Skylar didn't want it. Tobias has no obligation to care forevery minute detail about my mother after all.
