Skylar took out some baked beans from the fridge. “What's wrong withthat? You should have told me earlier. I didn't have time to come backand cook.”

Tobias put down his cutlery and sighed, his appetite long gone.Seeing how reluctant he was to eat the pasta, Skylar put the bakedbeans away and took out two eggs and a bell pepper. “I can make youan omelet if you want.”

“I had some eggs from breakfast,” Tobias said

“No one's stopping you from having another one at night.”

“I'm getting old. I need to watch my cholesterol level.”

Skylar burst out laughing. What am I supposed to say? “No! You're notold!?

She put the eggs back into the fridge and rummaged around for ideas.“Grilled chicken?”

“No.”

“Fish stew?”

“Don't like it.”

"BBQ ribs?"

“Doesn“t sound very appetizing.”

Skylar hissed in exasperation and slammed the fridge door shut.

She tossed a bottle of water at him. “You're having water for dinnerthen!”

Tobias grinned. I like how she’s showing her true colors in front of me.Things won't be so boring with her around.

To Skylar's surprise, Tobias downed the bottle of water and called it aday.

“I've settled your friend's matter,” Tobias said as he lit a cigarette whilelounging on the sofa. “Tell her to be more careful next time.”

Skylar put down the mop in her hands. “I just gave her another twohundred thousand. You don't have to get yourself involved, you know.”Tobias was not very happy with how determined she was to keep himout of her matters. “You didn’t withdraw any money from your card.Where did the two hundred thousand even come from?"

“I gave her my salary for my latest movie,” she said with a sigh.

As a new actress, her commissions were worth around a tenth ofveteran actresses, and she had given all of her payment away.“Everything?”

"Yes, everything,” Skylar said, nodding.

Tobias turned around to glance at her. “Including my gift?”

Skylar jumped as she remembered her promise to Tobias to get him awatch after she got her payment.

She figured that a reasonably-priced watch was sufficient, but she hadcompletely forgotten about it the moment Penelope told her about hersob story.

Tobias, on the other hand, was not going to let her forget about it soeasily.

Skylar rubbed her temples in regret. Urgh... why did I make thatpromise in the first place?

“Sorry... I guess it's gone now,” she said, scooting over to rest her headon his chest, only to flinch away when she came dangerously close tohis lit cigarette.

Tobias snuffed the flame hurriedly and gazed at her doe-like eyesbefore leaning down to plant a kiss on her forehead. “How are yougoing to repay me then? Is your period over?”

After his failed attempt last night, Skylar could tell that he was gettingirritated. He hated being told to keep his hands off her body every fewweeks.

She nodded, her face flushed. “Getting in bed with you instead ofspending money to get you a watch? Sounds like a deal to me.”Tobias patted her backside and went upstairs to shower.

As he showered, Penelope surprised Skylar by returning the twohundred thousand she gave her, and her voice was trembling withgratitude in the phone call that followed.

“Honey, I don't know who did it, but my debts are all gone! I'm foreverindebted to whoever returned the money for me!”
