The sound of a phone vibrating echoed against the walls of the room,making it louder than it should be.

Noticing that it was a call from Kate, Tobias picked up the call andsneaked out of the room.

“Apologies for calling at this hour, Mr. Ford. Did I disturb your sleep?”Kate asked.

Tobias lit a cigarette and gazed at the smoke. “Why are you calling meat this hour in the first place?”

“I wasn't free earlier on,” Kate relied.

“That doesn’t mean I have to follow your schedule. We don't haveanything to talk about anyway,” Tobias said coldly.

Kate fell silent for a few seconds before speaking again. “Can we meettomorrow morning at eight-thirty, Mr. Ford? Shall I go to RoyalEntertainment or Ford Group?”

“Royal Entertainment,” Tobias answered.

Tobias had told Skylar to report at Royal Entertainment in theafternoon, and hence she was still sleeping when he left the house.Before he left, he took out a bottle of water from the fridge to get backat her for serving him water for dinner the previous night.

By the time he arrived at Royal Entertainment, he was already an hourlate.

Kate watched as Tobias sat down in front of her and grinned. “Lookslike your attitude is the answer, Mr. Ford. You can't even be punctual forour meeting!”

“We have nothing to talk about,” Tobias repeated.

“Skylar's doing heaps of advertisements with very low reward lately, butI believe she is worth much more than that. I wouldn't have asked tomeet you if you have already severed ties with her,” Kate said.

The secretary entered the room to serve them tea, and Tobias smiledwhile taking a sip. “That doesn’t matter. You're not the only person whocan help her rise to stardom.”

Kate gazed at him confidently. “I believe that I'm irreplaceable. I canmaximize her potential in the entertainment industry.”

Tobias admired her straightforward way of doing things, but she wasthreatening the wrong person.

He chuckled. “You see, I'm not a fan of bargaining. The payment I gaveyou was final, and it's already twice as much as any other manager inthe industry. Aren't you being a little too greedy here?”

Kate was indeed blinded by the lucrative amount that Tobias promised,and she wanted even more than that. Royal Entertainment was affiliatedwith Ford Group, after all.

Knowing Tobias’ wealth, she figured that he would not have minded herrequest for a raise.

However, the last thing she expected was for him to reject her outright.Kate flexed her fingers in displeasure, hoping to buy a little more timefor herself to convince him

Tobias glanced at his watch. “You have twelve hours to think about it,and if I don't hear from your after that, your payment would be halved.I have better things to do.”

Kate was taken aback by how he was using time to pressure her.

Kate was a smart person, and she did not want to waste any more time.She decided to just go ahead with the contract that the secretarybrought over fresh from the printer.

“I have a condition,” Kate said. “I want you to sign Amelia Simons underthis company as well.”

Tobias agreed without much thought. He did not know who Ameliawas, and he did not have to attend to the details of the contractanyway.

All he wanted was to get Skylar a proper manager, and he hoped thatshe would learn to be independent as she walked down the red carpetto stardom.

She would not accomplish anything if she depended on him foreverything.
