Skylar knelt on the floor, crying her lungs out with her head on thedummy as she choked. "Mom! Why did you have to leave me? What'sgoing to happen to me now? What about Dad? Please just open youreyes and look at me!”

Truth be told, Skylar actually had a reserved personality. But when she'sin front of a camera, it was like she had an alter ego. She would becomeclumsy when moving around, so Skylar had to force herself into actingmode.

She was crying a river at this point and her voice was getting hoarse.Her eyes showed nothing but hopelessness.

With a performance that fully expressed the desperation andhelplessness of the character, people that did not know her would beshocked if they found out she was an amateur.

“And, cut!” The director gave the signal to stop. However, Skylar wasstill crying as she had gone too deep into the character and she wasstill trying to calm herself. After about half a minute, Skylar finally stoodup, and that marked the end of her audition.

After that, she felt relaxed. She really wanted to succeed, but instantfame was not the way to go. It required luck, albeit it being quitecommon in the industry, Skylar knew that her luck had never beengood.

“Not bad,” the director commented before Skylar bowed and got offthe stage. The only thing left for her to do after that was waiting.

It was like attending an examination, the results would only beannounced after a few days.

Kate went down to talk to Skylar. Seeing that Skylar still had tears in hereyes, she took out a handkerchief and handed it to her. Kate was quitesatisfied with Skylar's performance so she did not hold back on herpraise. “That wasn't bad at all. I knew you've got talent in doing this.Your performance just now was really eye catching. I'd say it was just asgood as any of the professionals.”

Meanwhile, Amelia stood beside them, listening to Kate praising Skylar.Her displeasure was written all over her face as she just lost half ofKate's attention towards her.

Skylar smiled. “You're being too modest with your compliments, Kate.When will they announce the result?”

“Within the week. Are you nervous?”

“Not really. I'll leave it all up to fate,” Skylar replied calmly.

After all, a lot of artistes had experienced failing in an audition. The onlything to do was to go for more and keep trying. Continuous failure wasalso something artistes needed to go through.

After that, Kate asked Amelia to tag along and have dinner together,but Amelia refused. “You guys go eat. I'm not really hungry right now,and I have a commercial I need to shoot later. So, I can't eat.”

Kate noticed that Amelia was not happy, so she just let her be.

She smirked as Amelia was the fruit of all her pampering. Now she wasgetting a bit too prideful for her own good.

Meanwhile, before Skylar could leave, the casting director in charged aswell as director Vensa approached them. Vensa handed her a piece ofpaper with a line on it.

“Can you read that for me?”

Reading lines was one of the best ways to test an artiste’s fundamentalskills. For Skylar, her results in the reading class had always been good.She was born with a good voice and her pronunciation was natural andclear. People would definitely understand each and every word she said.So, Skylar looked at the line for a minute and memorized everythingSuddenly, her voice changed from her normal gentle voice into a raspyone. Her vibrant smile turned cold as well. “Who did this to my father? Iswear I will take back everything I've lost and trample those whomistreated us under my feet! Even at the cost of my life!”

The line was not long, but Skylar's performance was near perfection.“You're quite impressive, young lady. No wonder Kate is looking out foryou. I see a bright future ahead of you,” Vensa remarked.

Kate had a hint of pride in her eyes as she responded, “I've always had agood eye for talent. After you go back, director, please do give Skylarsome consideration. She has a few more big auditions lined up so don'tmiss out.”
