Kai agreed without any hesitation. He had been in the countryside forso long, so he figured it was about time for him to have some fun.

At night, Kai looked at Sheldon when he saw Skylar. He was not sure ifSheldon did it deliberately or was it all just a coincidence.

On the other hand, Sheldon was unaware of their situation andintroduced them to each other. “This is my brothers girlfriend, Skylar.She's gorgeous, right?”

Meanwhile, Kai looked at Skylar and asked, “Why did you blacklist myWhatsApp? It indicated that my messages were being denied wheneverI sent something.”

“You guys, know each other?” Sheldon was puzzled. “You should've toldme earlier then. I wouldn't have introduced you. You actually have awide range of friends, Skylar.”

“I met him during the filming,” Skylar explained as she sat down. “We'rein the same movie, but I was done with my scenes earlier since he's themale lead.”

Kai sat opposite Skylar, and he really wanted to know why Skylarblacklisted him. “Aren't we friends?”

He was really bothered by this issue. Seeing that, Skylar reflected on heractions and realized that she might have gone too far. So, she smiledand said, “I think that was an accident on my part.”

“I do that too!” Sheldon was innocently trying to play along with Skylar.“I accidentally delete people all the time. Kai, you're a handsome man,why have a dog as your profile picture? And you don't post anything.Who would know that it's you? There were many times where I almostdeleted you by accident.”

However, Kai was still very frustrated. He did not trust Skylar'sexplanation, but he could not dig any deeper. From what he knew,there was a high chance that Tobias was behind it all. After all, Tobiaswas a selfish prick that could not tolerate anyone near his any of hispossessions. Even if Tobias’ feelings for Skylar were fake, he would notlet any man near Skylar either way.

“The woman makes the decision here,” Sheldon said as he passed themenu to Skylar.

Skylar took the menu and order some food as well as a salad for herselfbut no alcohol for her.

Nonetheless, Sheldon asked for a bottle of gin but was roasted by Kaifor it.

“Since when were you such a cheapskate? You actually think you cantreat us with a bottle of cheap gin like that?”

Kai and Sheldon were of a similar age, and their relationship had alwaysbeen good, a direct contrast to what Kai thought about Tobias. To him,Tobias was as cold as ice, to say the least.

What Kai said hit Sheldon right where it hurt as his facade started tocrumble. “My brother froze all my financial support, okay. He's forcingme to work at the company! With what I have, the cheap gin is all I canafford right now! You should be grateful that you at least havesomething to drink! Don't be so picky now,” Sheldon exclaimed.Hearing that confused Skylar. “Your brother would never actually forceyou to do things you don't like, what happened?”

It was the same question on Sheldon’s mind, so he let out a sigh.“Maybe he thinks I've been going too far recently. He said I was livinglike trash and have no contribution or value at all. He told me that if Icontinued like this, I'm better of just be dead.”

Those were some really hurtful words, but Skylar was certain that it allcame from Tobias. She knew that sometimes, his sharp tongue wouldcause others more than just pain. The way Tobias talked made othersfelt like he was slicing them slowly and dashing salt all over the woundsat the same time.

Compared to everyone else, Tobias treated Skylar very gently.

“What does he mean by value? Is everything just a businesstransaction?” Kai sneered. “Do we have to go against our consciencejust so we could maximize our gains?”

“Have you been stuck in the countryside for too long? Why are you socynical all of a sudden?” Skylar asked.

Kai remained quiet. Is she defending Tobias?

After a while, all the dishes were served, but Skylar was only touchingthe salad. I must persevere!

Kai, on the other hand, thought that she was just being shy since shewas in front of two men. Women need to maintain their image in frontof men after all, is what he thought. So, he picked up a piece of beefand was about to put it in her plate.

Sheldon sensed something from Kai's move and immediately stoppedhis fork from moving any further. “It's not like she can't reach it. Maybeshe just doesn't like beef.”
