Skylar looked at him with sparkly eyes as she said countless words ofgratitude and expressed her determination.

The sight made Kate dumbfounded. Moments ago, she had thoughtthat Skylar was not being enthusiastic enough. However, in a splitsecond, she seemed to have become a different person.

It's pretty hard to guess this little lady.

Just then, Valerie called on Skylar to head upstairs.

Concerning Valerie, Skylar did know quite a bit about her matters.Apparently, she had been beside Tobias when he was first starting hisown business.

Similarly, he also attached great importance to Valerie. For instance, hehad directly made her the executive president of Royal Entertainment.As soon as Skylar entered the office, Valerie asked, “Have you beenthrough the discussion with Mr. Zimmermann?” She then turned off thecomputer and leaned back on the chair. As usual, her gaze wasaggressive.

In Skylar's eyes, Valerie's appearance looked mean. They say that one’sappearance determined about a third of one’s personality. Thus, therewas perhaps no artiste in the company who was not afraid of Valerie. Insecret, they were calling her Madam Killer and Devil.

The title of “Madam” blatantly mocked Valerie's single status, for shewas already in her thirties but had no man. Some said that even maleflies did not go near her.

Skylar replied, “It's basically confirmed. I haven't received the script yetthough.”

Valerie then said, “There's no hurry. It will take some time for theproject to begin, for planning to start, and for the actors to receivespecial training. As for you acting as the female protagonist, I'm notoptimistic about it.”

Even though Skylar had to hear such frustrating words, there was still asignature fake smile on her face. “If my acting is bad, I can practice. Myacting skills have to be good enough for me to pass.”

Valerie sneered. She had on a sarcastic, contemptuous smile as she said,“I quite hate people who rely on relations. I came from the countrysideand worked hard to get myself to where I am today. But others caneasily get what someone else wants. It's no different from gettingsomething without doing anything. This time, Mr. Ford specifically saidhe wanted you to act in it. According to your market ratings, manyothers in the company surpass you. So technically, this role shouldn'tbe yours... Do you understand?”

Upon hearing her words, Skylar felt embarrassed. Her entire bodyheated up, and it felt like she had nowhere to hide.

However, she had no way to rebut Valerie. If it were not for Avery, shewould never have accepted something she had not gained by herselfeither.

Avery had snatched too many things away from her...

Skylar took a deep breath and replied, “I'll remember your words, MsFey. I won't give up on this role. If we only blindly follow the marketratings, those at the bottom will never make it in the industry. In thefirst place, it is a very unfair model.”

Valerie sneered. “There's not a lot of fairness in the world. Did you getthat role fairly? I hope Mr. Ford doesn't hear about whatever I told youtoday. But even if he knew, it's no big deal. We've gone through a lottogether for so many years. You've only been beside him for a shortwhite. I think we have to be self-conscious.”

Little by little, the sky darkened outside, just as Skylar's mood did.Unable to hide her emotions, Skylar's bad mood and unhappiness wereall written on her face.

As soon as Skylar came out from Valerie's office, Kate had noticed theclues and sensed that something was wrong with her. She appeared tohave taken a blow.

Thus, Kate asked, “What did Valerie say to you? You look so lifeless.”Skylar replied, “Nothing much. It's not anything pleasant, but you can'treplace any reason to argue back too. I'll just listen and forget it.”

Kate smirked. “You can also interpret it as she’s jealous of you.”
