Chapter 12 - Return to the Queen
"Get off me!" Cassius shouted, still squirming beneath me. Dawn was lying on the ground wincing in pain. Aurora was standing over her and had a talon pinning her down. Dawn was all scratched up and Cassius was barely marked, other than a single scratch across his eye. Although he brutally attacked Dawn, I could tell Cassius was a fighter. Nearly as good as Asteria. "If you had stopped when Aurora told you to, you wouldn't be in this predicament," I said.
"I will let you go now but do not attack Dawn again, do you understand?!" Cassius glared at me, as he caught his breath. “You’re protecting her?! She's an Ignisarbor, she's responsible for the war!” he rolled his eyes and his tone was incredulous.
“I’m protecting both of you from tearing each other apart,” I replied, lifting myself off Cassius and taking a step back. Aurora retracted her talon, releasing Dawn, who slowly crawled away, assessing her wounds. I looked toward Dawn, who was in a dark corner opposite Asteria who looked like she wanted to scream at Cassius so the whole world could hear it. The rain outside had died down slightly, but not enough for it to not pour. My gaze switched between Dawn and Cassius. Dawn, who was in the corner and Cassius, who was hiding in the shadows on the other side of the cave. I looked toward Lumina and gestured toward Dawn, she understood and began walking over to her in the corner and just like she had done with Aurora in Vanderberg Highlands, placed a talon over only one of the many scratches Dawn had.
As they all began to glow the golden hues as Aurora's did, I swear I saw tears stream down her cheeks as she shut her eyes tightly due to the pain. Was the healing process that bad? I guess she did have many more than Aurora's one. The golden hue subsided and all that was left were many scars. Dawn's eyes were filled with pain, astonishment and confusion when she opened them. "A- are you a... Saga?" Dawn asks after the pain completely subsided. All Lumina can do is nod. The rain had died down enough to go back out. The Stella Alis council was just across the lake. I could see the massive castle towering over the walls as I stood at the entrance to the cave.
"Let's go," I said. "But, it's still raining," Cassius said.
"Barely. Stop being a baby and let's go!" I left the cave and began heading around the lake. Aurora, Lumina and Asteria had all followed. Dawn was a bit hesitant but after staring daggers at Cassius, she flew forward, attempting to catch up. We were on the shore of the Daemonalis council, the beach where there weren't any walls built. By just walking the perimeter I saw tonnes of Daemonalis dragons guarding the walls, occasionally giving me curious glances. Despite hating the Stella Alis, they still had built their massive council right next to their council. Something that also came across my mind was we had a few councils to visit. I'd imagine Lumina, Asteria and Cassius' parents are wondering where their heirs are.
Or maybe they could let them know. It was a possibility. Cassius was far behind us, I guess he didn't need a special invitation. We arrived at the massive gate once again, the one decorated like a fairytale. The same two guards were on the wall, Apollo and Nova. Once again they were talking much like the first time I met them. I still wanted an explanation for Nova's creepy expression when I first met Asteria. That weird expressionless face. Eerily vacant. And how she was just staring down at me like an Eagle stalking prey. I cleared my throat and they looked down just as the other dragons had gotten here. "Louis? You did it... Did you really get all the Embers of the prophecy?" Nova asked. I don't know why she had to ask when she could clearly see six Embers.
I nodded and Nova headed over to the wheel and axle like before and began turning. Much like the first time, it created suspense. Entering, Not as many dragons were looking at me, a few were but not all like last time. We headed straight to the castle, the guards letting us in... again. They must've accepted the fact that I am a part of them. I am one of them. That I am meant to be the hero and a leader to Destiny's Harbingers. This is only the beginning of something greater, larger. The Ending of War Prophecy.
Entering the castle, Queen Galaxia sat on her throne while Solara seemed to be arguing with one of the guards. The guard Solara was arguing with was that dragon guard who was outside of Aurora's bedroom. But why was Solara arguing with her? The guard looked ahead and saw me with the other six Embers and came running. "I'm not done with you!" Solara shouted behind her. She completely ignored Solara and kept running. When she reached me, for some reason she bowed. I looked toward Queen Galaxia with a confused expression and all she did was smile contently. "You have done it. They are all here. The Embers stated in the prophecy," She said. "Even though I don't want to," Cassius said, sounding more like a teenager. Asteria just gave him a solid smack to the back of the head. Although Dawn and Cassius were as far away as possible from one another. They weren't fighting. There are going to be plenty of lectures, I can see it now.
Queen Galaxia flew off of her throne and came walking up to me. "Do they know?" She asked. "Lumina, Dawn, Cassius and Asteria's parents don't Your Majesty," I responded
"Hmph. Leave out, Dawn and Cassius. Head to Lumina and Asteria's councils to let them know. Also, be sure to be at the Sunburst Aether council for the election they are doing next week."
"Election? I thought that was six months from now," Helia said in the background. "There has been a change of plans. After the assassination of Queen Eleni and the last-minute news that their replacement queen is a part of the prophecy. Conflict in the council and region has risen. To prevent any worse they have moved it to next week and request for you all to be there and also vote on the new queen. Just promise you will all be there," Queen Galaxia responded. I nodded. "Don't worry Your Majesty. Will be there," I said. Queen Galaxia smiled warmly and headed back to her throne. How would the election end up going? The entirety of the council was dealing with two mysterious assassins. The election would only bring them back... right?
