Inner Woman Volume 2 -
66 Instant Forever
Those eyes first seen across the mall
Above me as they tracked me
Pressure so sweet
I turned to replace what prickled my nape
Seeking the source before destiny
Could retreat
A glimpse in the shadow
Black Friday’s great crowds
Those eyes stabbed through me
Sweet violet shrouds
Pierced through to my soul
Like an angel above
I ran like a whirlwind
Seeking breaks in the mob
Like gelatin it bound me
Far worse than mud,
The current of humanity
Pressed dense against me
Those eyes were gone
I searched for pale purple
The gaze to complete me
The scintillating sensation of
Ocular completion
Soothing my soul
Out into white wonderland
Christmas wishes dancing
I surmised those eyes,
Missing, hidden
Lost under garments,
Were not to be mine
Yuletide wishes for happiness
Fell short
Family concerns for my sanity
Were moot
In each nook and cranny
Those eyes burned my soul
When New Year approached,
I conceded
My essence would never replace what I needed
I peered across
An insurmountable gap
Those eyes mirrored the seduction
Of my reflection’s last gasp
