Innocent Little Runt -
Chapter 15
Celeste’s POV
“Are we done yet?” I asked looking at the piles of paper on the desk and not knowing whether they were all filled out or not. I leaned back into Xavier’s chest, loving the sparks that flew through my body and the smell of coconut and fresh rain that surrounded me.
“I just have to call the surrounding packs to confirm the meeting time on Friday and then we are done.” My eyebrows scrunched together in confusion.
“What’s the meeting for?” He turned me around and smiled sadly at me. I instantly knew what the meeting was about. “It’s about them, isn’t it? Those rogues?” He nodded and I choked back the tears. I hate all of those bastards for what they have done. They killed my family, my pack, and I hope those creature end up in the darkest depths possible.
“They are one of the main reasons, but there are other rogue problems. It’s just kind of peaked their interest that the rogues were going after you. They want to know why and so do I.” I stiffened. There was a possible chance that I knew why.
“Lycer no!”
But I didn’t want Xavier to know.
“Run Celestial, run!”
He just couldn’t.
“It’ll be okay. Just run!”
Please Xavier, I thought. Just give it up.
“Celeste, are you okay?” I blinked and looked at Xavier. His jawline was at a perfect angle and suited his perfectly straight nose great. His hair, the perfect shade of brown hair looked soft enough to run my hands through. And his eyes, his perfectly green eyes makes my breath catch up in my throat. Like now.
I numbly nodded my head and continued to stare into his eyes that I couldn’t look away from. He wouldn’t look away from mine either. He brought his hand up and placed it on my cheek, his thumb caressing my cheekbone.
“You are really beautiful Celeste. Did you know that?” I shook my head. “Well you are the most beautiful creature in the entire universe and I don’t care what anybody else says.”
“You are the most beautiful girl I have ever met Celestial. Don’t let anyone ever think otherwise.”
I quickly look away, wanting my thoughts of Lycer to stop. I haven’t thought about him for over a year and I didn’t want to start remembering him now.
Then again, this situation with the rogues might make this a bit harder. That thought only makes my hatred for them intensify.
“Why don’t we go and eat something?” I nodded and looked back into Xavier’s eyes. His eyes held worry but he didn’t question me.
We walked down stairs and to the kitchen where there was a girl making something on the stove. I recognized her blond hair and purple highlights as Lesa, Xavier’s sister. I was proven correct when she turned around, her green eyes that are similar to Xavier’s staring at me. She smiled when she saw me.
“I’m so glad that you are okay. With what happened yesterday I was worried that Xavier was going to have you resting all day. And then I heard what happened this morning from one of the pack girls and I thought that you were sick or something. I mean I knew what happened when you first got here and that isn’t normal. But maybe it is considering you’re a-“
“Lesa.” Lesa stopped her rant when Xavier spoke up. She looked a bit embarrassed but smiled anyways.
“Sorry.” I smiled back at her. “Oh! I’m making pasta for lunch. Do you guys want some?” I nodded eagerly and I heard Xavier chuckle.
“Go sit down little one. I have to talk to my sister.” I looked at Xavier for a moment and then nodded. I walked over to the table in the next room and fiddled with my sleeves.
“Hey!” I jumped at first and then calmed down. I looked around the room for whoever spoke but I didn’t see anyone.
“Hey,” the voice came again but this time with a tug on my pants. I looked down to see a little girl with ginger hair and bright blue eyes. She was wearing a sweater dress and no shoes. He hair was down, framing her adorable face. “You’re our new Luna right?”
I nodded, “I guess.” She smiled and hopped half way onto my lap, her arms going around my waist. I hesitantly picked her up and wrapped my arm around her. She smelt like the wind on a summer day.
“Welcome to our pack Luna.” I smiled let go of her. She pulled out the chair next to me and, with a bit of a struggle, pulled herself up into the seat. She then turned to look at me, her smile wide.
“What’s your name?” I asked, not really knowing how to start a conversation with her.
“Delian. What’s yours?”
“It’s Celeste.” She smiled and grabbed my hand, pulling it into her lap. She stared at my palm for a moment and her smile faded.
“You’re sad.” My eyebrows scrunched together in confusion.
“What do you mean? I’m happy right now.” She shook her head. I tilted my head a bit and my hair fell in front of my eyes. I used my free hand to move it behind my ear.
“Not truly though.” She let go of my hand and smiled up at me. “Maybe you should smile! I’m always happy because I always smile. Smile!” She leaned forward and pulled my cheeks to a point where I was smiling. She giggled. “See, you look so pretty!”
She let go of my cheeks and looked passed me. I looked behind me to see Lesa and Xavier smiling at Delian.
Xavier walked over to us and kissed me on the top of my head.
“I see you’ve met Delian.” I nodded.
“Hello Alpha!” Delian’s bright smile made me smile.
“How do you like your new Luna?” Delian motioned Xavier forward and pulled him down to her height by the side of his shirt.
“She’s really pretty!” I blushed as I heard the words that Delian failed to whisper.
Xavier chuckled, “I think so too.”
“Delian go replace your father. You know he gets worried when you wander off.” She nodded and hopped off of her chair, running out of the room.
Xavier and Lesa sat down, Xavier next to me and Lesa in front of me.
“So Celeste- tell me about yourself. We didn’t really get the chance to talk the other day.” Lesa smiled as she ate her pasta.
“There’s not a lot to tell. I’ve been a rogue since I was six, I first shifted when I was fourteen, and I’ve grown quite fond of the colors blue and green over the years.” I took a bite of my past and almost m****d at the taste. “This food is really amazing. Thank you Lesa.” I could practically feel Xavier’s gaze on me.
“I’ll teach you to cook sometime but I want to know about you. There has to be more to you right?” I shook my head and I felt Xavier’s hand on my knee, only comforting me. “What about friends? You were a rogue for a long time and with the remaining members of your pack right? You must have had at least one friend.”
“Why are you sticking around me?”
“Reasons.” The dirty blond haired boy in front of me said shortly.
“Am I allowed to know those reasons?” He smiled, his teeth somehow pearly white.
“I want to be your friend.” He shrugged.
“I don’t even know your name! And I doubt you know mine.” I looked around at the green leaves and listened to the birds chirping for a moment.
“Then what’s your name?”
I blinked. “Celeste.”
“Is that your full name?” I shook my head. “Then what’s your full name?”
“Celestial Jacobs.” He smiled and kneeled in front of me. He took my hand in his and kissed my knuckles.
“Hello Celestial, my name is Lycer. I think we can now be considered friends.”
“Celeste?” I blinked slowly.
“Are you okay little one? You’ve been spacing out quite a bit lately.” I nodded.
“I’m fine.” I want to stop remembering him.
“Do you want to lay down.”
I thought about it for a moment and almost said no. “Yeah- I should. I’m sorry Lesa. I’ll be upstairs.” Lesa nodded.
“Do you want me to go with you?” I looked at Xavier and shook my head.
“I’ll be fine. I’m just going to take a small nap.” Xavier nodded but with a frown on his face.
I walked upstairs and into mine and Xavier’s room. I closed the door and laid down, under the covers, on the bed.
It’s okay, I heard Ancillary say in my head. It’s not wrong to keep remembering him. You know he’s alive.
I know, I thought calmly even though I felt like breaking inside. But I doubt I’ll see him again.
