Innocent Little Runt -
Chapter 66
Malum’s POV
I looked down at one of the new experiments. He wasn’t done with his transition yet but that will only take about six hours. I could tell he wasn’t going to be one of the stronger ones but that didn’t matter. Tyler came back from the hunt empty handed meaning we have to resort to using the plan Suka and my other war advisers came up with. I was going to attack that pack eventually but now it will be sooner rather than later.
Suka told me that we would need another hundred people or so. So I sent people on a search. Desperate rogues, rogues who put up a fight. One night when she refused to leave my room, which I kicked her out after she fell asleep, she told me that I should just attack a small pack and take anyone who could be useful. It was a good idea but there could be issues. However, I figured I’d just face those issues when they came around.
With two packs attacked and around 80 new experiments or experiments to be I just need a bit more. I am sending out a few of my men to deal with it tonight. Suka too of course. She is the way to the Alpha. Seduce them, kill them, attack the rest of the pack, keep any possibly valuable wolves alive. It doesn’t matter if the Alpha has a mate, Suka always manages to get to them. I’m still contemplating sending her in first to Paramount Pack. She never met Lycer or Celeste so they wouldn’t recognize her. I only have a month until the planned attack so I’ll have to decide soon.
I started to walk to my room. Tyler and Suka just finished showing me the report on how everything was coming along. I shut and locked my bedroom door. I walked to my closet and pulled out the box that was in the far corner on the highest shelf. There were three shelves towards the top of the closet and you couldn’t really tell if there was anything on the third one. It was too dark.
I took the box over to my bed and sat down. I opened the box and pulled out the picture a blue haired girl. Her caramel skin looked like porcelain. Smooth and fragile. I felt a true smile coming to my lips. Something that hasn’t happened in awhile. I closed my eyes and laid back on my bed as I thought of her.
“Getdi! What are you doing out here?” The blue haired girl looked at me and signaled for me to be quite. I sighed and walked closer to her. She was sitting on one of the low tree branches, looking out towards the woods.
We have lived out here since we both ran away a few years ago. The story about that was simple. Her parents tried to separate us. It’s not like we could just ignore it. Her parents were the Alpha and Luna. Once they discovered we were mates they tried to split us apart. Apparently they had someone set up for her. I wasn’t going to let them take her from me and I especially wasn’t going to let her be with him.
His name was Aiden Westmore and he was the biggest douche in our pack. Getdi was actually with him for awhile at her parents request. He was always treating her like crap. Yelling at her for the littlest things, hitting her when he got really angry, and he even cut her hair. She loved her hair. She had natural tight curls that she dyed blue since she was fourteen. He got mad at her one day when she told our training captain she wanted to train. He told her that she belonged in the kitchen or something. She yelled back at him. I remember giving her a nod of encouragement. He yanked her into the house and the next time I saw her, her hair was unevenly cut. In some places her hair was almost cut down to the scalp.
I had the biggest crush on her when we were younger. I was ecstatic when I discovered we were mates.
“Listen,” she whispered. “Do you hear it?” I listened and smiled when I heard the sound of celebratory howls. The pack that was close to where we were living were celebrating their new Luna. Actually, we technically lived on their territory but the Alpha was kind enough to allow us when he heard our story.
“It’s beautiful. I always hoped I’d be able to hear those for when you and I took over my parents’ roles. I guess that won’t happen now.” I took her hand and looked at her hand. One wrong move and it looked like it could break, shatter into a million pieces. She is actually strong. She just doesn’t look like it. You have to get to know her and be around her to realize her true strength.
“Who knows. Maybe one day we’ll go back and they’ll actually accept us. We can become Alpha and Luna, get rid of that a*****e Aiden, and then rule peacefully.”
“Maybe,” she responded and swung around on the branch. I shrugged off my jacket and put it on her. It was cold tonight. “Let’s go back inside.” I nodded and held out my hand for her. She placed her hand back in mine and jumped off of the branch. She ran ahead of me yelling, “Last one in has to clean dishes!” I chuckled and jogged behind her.
I smiled as I felt a wetness on my cheek. I wiped it away a second later and scowled. She is the only reason why I need this cure. The way to be immortal. It could have saved her but she died anyways. We might have been fine, she would still be here, but Aiden was looking for her. If she would have just let me get shot instead. I could have f*****g taken it! She died and I went crazy. I went after Aiden. He paid for what happened to her. Slowly and painfully. That had my smirk returning to my lips.
