Invisible Mate ( Mate Series Book 1)
Rescue Mission - Part1

“What the heck is going on with you? Why didn’t you tell me earlier if something was bothering you?” Axel, Adele’s brother, burst out as soon as Adele asked his help to rescue someone. Before Adele could say anything, Axel continued, ” And why are you asking for my help? Did your mates refuse to help you? Is there any problem?”

Adele’s voice got stuck in her throat. She needed her brother’s help, but she didn’t want to tell him about her relationship with her mates. In her haste to call her brother, she didn’t even think what she would say to him. After thinking for a few seconds, she said, ” I will explain it to you when we meet. Can you meet me now near the intersection outside our pack?”

Axel knew his sister wouldn’t ask for help unless it was really important, so he agreed.

" Don’t forget to get a few warriors with you,” Adele reminded him, to which Axel agreed and cut the call.

Adele then faced Sera and asked, ” Do you know the place where they have kept your Mom?”

" I am not sure, but I guess she is at the same place where I was locked up,” Sera replied. ” But how do we get out of here?”

" I will take care of that. You wait here; I will be back,” saying this, Adele went back upstairs to check on others. She first checked on Chris, who was now in his office, and Archer had already left. Adele thought they had to act fast before Archer got a chance to change Sybil’s location.

Adele even checked on her Gamma and saw him going out of the pack on some Pack business.

First, Adele approached Maria and requested her to take care of her pups after they were awake.

Maria raised her eyebrow and asked, ” Where are you going, Adele? Are you planning something?”

This time Adele was ready with her answer. ” Nothing to worry about, Maria. I am going to my pack to meet my friend. I will be back by evening.”

Maria nodded and said, ” Sorry for interfering in your affairs, but I don’t want to see you fight with Chris.”

" I understand, Maria. I will try not to,” Adele said with a smile, but in her heart, she knew that, after what she was planning to do, there might be more than just a fight. If Chris had bothered to listen to her at least once, she wouldn’t have to resort to this.

After that, Adele went back to the dungeon and got Sera out of her cell. They silently walked out towards the parking lot, hiding away from everyone. Adele asked Sera to hide in the back seat while she took the driver’s seat and drove out of the pack through the border patrol.

When Adele reached the intersection, her brother Axel was already waiting for her.

Axel was surprised to see Sera with her. ” What is she doing here?”

" It’s her Mom who needs to be rescued,” Adele answered.

" Is it related to humans? I thought we would be fighting wolves,” Axel remarked while the warriors were looking at everyone in confusion.

Adele was about to reply, but Sera beat her to it. ” I am a witch, Axel.”

Axel was surprised. ” What?” Sera had come to Silverlake Pack on many occasions to meet Adele’s family, and everyone had an impression that she was a human.

Axel stared at Adele as if asking her to explain what was happening. ” It’s a long story, Bro, and we don’t have time right now. We have to act fast.”

" At least we must know what it is that we are fighting against,” Axel said, exasperated.

" I will tell you in short. Sera is a witch, and her Mom, who is also a witch, has been kidnapped. So we must rescue her. As much as I know, there are only a few werewolves and rogues guarding her. Isn’t it?” Adele asked Sera for clarification.

Sera nodded, and Axel asked her, ” Do you know the location?”

“Yes,” said Sera.

Axel looked at his warriors. ” Any doubts?′

All of them shook their head, so Axel said, ” Ok. Please get in the car and follow us.” Axel moved towards Adele’s car and opened the driver’s door.

" I was driving, ” Adele pouted.

" Not now,” Axel said and got into the driver’s seat.

" Why not?”

" You have just delivered two babies. How can you drive?”

" Ergh!!! It’s already a month, and I am completely healed. Did you forget that I am a werewolf?”

" I don’t know all that,” Axel said, and everybody got in the car. Adele took the passengers seat while Sera sat at the back. ” And I am warning you; Once we reach there, you will be sitting in the car while we all go inside and do the work.”

" What? Are you kidding me?” Adele asked, appalled.

" Definitely not,” Axel replied.

" I cannot sit here in the car doing nothing.”

" You have an essential thing to do. Keep an eye on everything and warn us if someone else comes. Now that I think about it, I think it’s not safe to leave you alone in the car; I will ask one warrior to stay with you.”

" I am coming with you,” Adele said, determined.

" Don’t argue with me, Ade. You are a mother now. Your kids need you, so you cannot be reckless anymore,” Axel said calmly. ” You don’t have to involve in the fight unless it’s absolutely necessary.”

Adele understood her brother’s concern for her, so she reluctantly agreed. ” I will stay in the car, but I will be coming in to warn you if there is anything dangerous.”

Axel nodded and then asked Sera, ” Which way?”

Sera said, ” Take a right here.”

After half an hour, they reached an old abandoned building entirely hidden in a valley within the mountains. They parked their car at a distance from the house to not alert the rogues.

Once everyone gets down from the car, Axel asks Sera, ” Do you know the layout of the building, and where are the guards?”

" Not exactly as I was unconscious when I was brought here, but while I was escaping, I noticed 4 to 5 rooms on the ground floor. I think there is a basement below, as I could see a few guards go down through the steps. My Mother might be locked in the basement as I couldn’t replace her in any of the rooms on the ground floor.”

Axel then faced the five warriors he had brought with him and said, ” We do not know how many guards are there inside, so we have to be alert.”

The warriors nodded, and Axel observed the house from a distance and saw three rogues guarding outside. ” There are three rogues outside. We will deal with them quietly and directly go to the basement. ”

Everyone agreed and were getting ready to go, but Adele was anxious. She recalled Sera telling her about hearing Archer speak to a woman in a deep voice. Adele had not informed Axel anything about the evil witch. Even if they are capable enough, their lack of knowledge of what they are dealing with could lead to a disaster. What if Axel or anybody gets hurt? What if the witch is successful in manipulating someone? No, she couldn’t allow that.

Meanwhile, Axel was continuously trying to get Adele’s attention. ” Ade, where are you lost?”

Adele came out of her thoughts and said, ” I am coming inside with you, bro.”

Axel huffed. ” Don’t start again. We have already discussed about this.”

Adele tried to convince Axel. ” I know, but please trust me. I will stay behind everyone and will fight only when it is required. Just take me along with you.”

Finally, Axel agreed but warned, ” Always stay beside me and don’t voluntarily jump into the fight.”

Adele was happy and hugged Axel. ” Love you, Bro. You are the best.”

" Ok, Ok! Now let’s go,” he said, and they all crept towards the house.

The three rogues guarding the house looked fully alert as if they were expecting someone to attack.

They all hid behind a tree, and Adele said, ” Archer must have warned them to be alert. He must have guessed we will come to rescue Sybil.”

Sera nodded while Axel looked at Adele in confusion. ” Later,” Adele mouthed, and Axel spoke to two of his warriors. ” Each one of you surprise them from the left and right directions, and then we will attack from the front.”

The two warriors agreed and tiptoed towards the house while everyone got ready to attack.
