It’s Love That Blinds Him – Chapter 146
In the Evans Group meeting room, the routine meeting was depressing, as always. To be exact, a happy atmosphere had not appeared in the Evans group for some time. The atmosphere was still depressing, which made everyone nervous. Everyone carefully avoided making mistakes, even punctuation. Because no one could bear the cold and merciless gaze of the dark big boss sitting next to the main seat.
Suddenly, a phone on the table vibrated. Inexplicably, everyone shivered. Who dared to turn on the cell phone at this time? Were they going to offend the big boss and involve everyone? Everyone was looking for the troublemaker. After the bell rang, they fixed their eyes on their boss. Soon, everyone consciously lowered their heads, pretending not to see him.
No one was allowed to make a sound on their phone except their boss. No one dared to criticize the boss for such a trivial matter. Not to mention the fact that Malcolm was in such a bad mood recently.
Glancing at the number on his phone screen, Malcolm quickly answered it. After hearing the words on the other end, his gloomy face became more terrifying. His eyes were even colder. Everyone present looked at each other and guessed what the person on the other end of the line had said to make the expression on Malcolm’s face so strange.
After a while, he quickly got up and left the meeting room. After glancing at Malcolm who was leaving, Enoch told the general manager next to him to continue chairing the meeting, and then followed Malcolm.
There was only one person who could make Malcolm lose his temper, and that was Lucia. However, Lucia had been with Lowell. Why did Malcolm become so strange after answering a phone call? Soon, Enoch stopped Malcolm at the elevator and entered it together. Glancing at Enoch, Malcolm said nothing.
After they got in the car, the car drove to the underground monitoring room under the hospital. Enoch confirmed his guess. The two quickly arrived at the monitoring room. When the people in the room saw the two of them, they greeted each other respectfully.
“What happened?” Malcolm asked.
“Ms. Evans is not in the original place. At first, we didn’t take it seriously. When we found something wrong, we began to determine its specific location. Then , we confirmed that she was heading to the airport.
From what had happened before, Lucia’s CCTV took up at least a third of the main screen. When they discovered that Lucia’s red dot had started to move, at first no one paid much attention to it, because Lucia had often appeared in certain places in Strinas these days. When the Red Dot stopped at Kenneth’s cafe, everyone ignored this information. They did not inform Malcolm until they discovered that Lucia had gone beyond the scope of her usual activities.
“Find out the specific information immediately,” Malcolm ordered calmly.
Was he too confident? Or had the situation changed? How could Lucia leave alone? Then… was he with her? All kinds of thoughts ran through Malcolm’s mind, and he looked very agitated, which was rare to see.
“She went to the airport with Lowell, accompanied by Kathryn. The flight number is…” the monitor continued to report.
Before the person could finish their words, Malcolm had already run out of the monitoring room. He headed towards the airport. When he heard the news of Lucia’s departure, a big hole seemed to open in his heart. The car was speeding down the road, constantly passing all the cars on the side. He didn’t even stop at the red light, and the police cars roaring behind were quickly left far behind.
The car stopped at the international boarding gate. Malcolm got out of the car and ran towards the lobby. Enoch had arranged to allow Malcolm to enter the waiting room smoothly without being arrested. After looking around the waiting room, Malcolm headed straight to the VIP lounge next door. Seeing that it was Malcolm, the security guards at the door let him in freely. However, he could not replace Lucia in the living room.
“Strinas’ flight to Spain is about to take off. The gate has stopped handling boarding procedures.” The mechanical voice of the ground crew rang out, cold and merciless.
“Inform the airport to control and prevent the flight from taking off,” Malcolm took his phone and dialed Enoch’s number, giving the order.
He left the VIP lounge and stood in front of the French window. He could see that Lucia’s flight had slid out of the parking space and onto the runway. The plane maintained a steady speed and stopped in place when it officially skidded onto the established runway. Malcolm felt hope in his heart again. Subconsciously, she reached out towards the direction of the plane, but she could only touch the cold tempered glass.
After a while, Malcolm’s phone rang and he answered it without hesitation. The news on the other end of the phone made his heart sink.
“Sorry Malcolm, it’s too late. When we gave the control order, the plane was already sliding on the runway. In this case, we couldn’t stop the plane from taking off without any special realistic reason”, Enoch said, his tone full of regret and helplessness.
He had without hesitation contacted air traffic control personnel and used the privileges of the Evans family to ask them to agree to issue the air traffic control order. Lowell’s territory was not in Strinas. There would be nothing he could do to stop air traffic control. However, just when they thought everything was fine, air traffic control personnel noticed that the plane had skidded on the runway, and the tower had confirmed that everything was correct and given clearance to take off. Before he could give the order, the plane had already taken off from the runway and into the blue sky.
Without hearing what Enoch was going to say, Malcolm quickly ran towards the direction the plane went, as if he could make the plane stop flying and everything return to where it started. But it was too late. In about a dozen seconds, the plane had already left the runway and flown into the blue sky.
Clenching his fists in resentment and regret, Malcolm shattered the large tempered glass. He stood still and watched the plane fly through the sky getting smaller and smaller until it disappeared from view. Aside from the occasional sparkle in his eyes and the clenched fists in his pockets, there was nothing but mist all over his body.
When they first met at Starry Night, Lucia seemed aggressive and charming; Lucia was shocked and confused when they saw each other again; Lucia was angry and helpless when she learned his identity; When he chased her and she escaped, Lucia’s fighting spirit constantly flared and she was stubborn; at the wedding, Lucia looked happy and persistent; when she knew the plot, she seemed painful as if she had fallen into an abyss; little by little, she emerged from the mist and found herself… Every scene that went through her head was about Lucia, like a film.
“Do you love me, Malcolm?” »
Lucia’s sad words seemed to resonate around him. He never gave her an answer. She seemed to fall into despair in her silence. But he always told himself that when Lucia became stronger and stronger, he could fall in love with her. In his own way, with his cowardice and his silence, he had little by little chased Lucia from his heart. He couldn’t give Lucia the most positive answer that was buried deep in his heart.
If there was a chance, would he tell her? Malcolm fell into silence. No. Faced with his family, his interests and his inevitable responsibilities, romantic love was no longer something people his age could expect. If things started again, he would take the same path he was taking now.
Now that he missed Lucia, it was already a fact. He had already left a scar in Lucia’s heart, which could not be repaired by simply saying “I love you”. He had already taken away Lucia’s love for him and her hopeful heart, making her leave so desperately.
However, she was like a tenacious water plant that took root easily, following his bones and b***d, and gradually rooting into the deepest part of his heart. Even if he ignored it or uprooted it, as long as there was a trace of bone or b***d left, it could quickly grow back and occupy his body.
“Now that everything is irreversible, let’s put an end to it completely. » Looking up at the sky, Malcolm couldn’t replace any memory other than the unusually blue sky and white clouds.
“Malcolm…” Finally, Enoch arrived.
Looking at Malcolm’s silent figure and the direction he was looking, Enoch immediately understood what was happening. It was too late. Was it all really destined? He moved away in silence.
People with sharp eyes recognized the two brothers. They wanted to come forward to confirm their identities, but were stopped by security guards nearby. Rumors began to spread on the Internet. The people who were at the center of the storm in the first place were once again put at the center of public opinion, but the hero did not respond in any way.
“Let’s go,” Malcolm finally turned around and said coldly.
He headed towards the exit without looking back. It seemed like he had blocked everything here behind him. Following him, Enoch looked at his solitary shadow which was extended by the light. Enoch knew that Malcolm’s heart had been sealed when Lucia left. The old ruthless and loveless Malcolm would return.
Suddenly, Enoch frowned and looked at his phone. It was Kaleb calling. He looked a little confused. Everyone could see that Kaleb was loyal to Malcolm. If there was a problem, Kaleb should report it to Malcolm. Why did he call Enoch now? In the confusion, Enoch quickly picked up the phone.
“Sir. Enoch, something happened in the mine in South Africa. I haven’t been able to reach Mr. Malcolm.” There was a rare anxiety in Kaleb’s voice.
“What happened? I’m with Malcolm,” Enoch asked in a calm voice, quickening his pace.
A new conspiracy had begun and a silent war had officially begun.
