It’s Love That Blinds Him – Chapter 184
The last lights of the building opposite went out. Lucia checked the time on her watch, put her things away and turned off the computer. The next moment, his phone rang. She looked at the caller ID and answered the phone.
“Lucia, I’m downstairs. Come downstairs.” Tandy’s calm voice came from the other end of the line.
“See you later,” Lucia nodded.
After hanging up the phone, she grabbed her purse and took the elevator to the lobby. As soon as she came out of the lobby, she saw Tandy leaning against the car door. They hadn’t seen each other for two years. Except for the wrinkles in the corners of her eyes, which showed the traces of time , he didn’t seem to have changed much. Seeing Lucia walking towards him, Tandy opened the car door for her as usual and let her in first. Then he returned to the driver’s seat. “You haven’t
changed at all,” Lucia said first.
“You too. Over the past two years, you have accomplished more than I imagined. Lucia, you did a better job than I expected. ” Tandy praised Lucia for her performance over the past two years.
He did not interfere in the group’s affairs nor did he contact Lucia. But that didn’t mean he didn’t know what that had happened in the Dresse group in the past few years. As a woman, Lucia had stood firm in such a complicated place and even made the group more prosperous than before, which could prove her strength and abilities . Lucia was much better beyond her imagination.
“You missed Kathy so much. She talked about you.” Lucia didn’t respond to Tandy but changed the subject.
“I missed her too. You raised them well.” Speaking of Kathy, a satisfied smile immediately appeared in Tandy’s originally calm eyes.
Lucia just smiled. Tandy didn’t continue talking but focused on driving. He and Lucia had always maintained such an indifferent atmosphere. They got along in a unique way. For Lucia, he was a teacher and a friend. Out of the corner of her eye, Tandy looked at Lucia who was staring blankly at the window. His eyes darkened. He wondered if what he was going to say to Lucia today would cause a huge wave in her heart.
What Lucia didn’t want to involve was the world Tandy most wanted to involve. However, he didn’t think he could do it alone, so he needed Lucia’s cooperation. During the last years, Lucia’s strategic arrangements had never involved a market linked to China. Tandy knew that what she didn’t want to involve was anything to do with the Evans group.
If she had really let go, she wouldn’t have cared. Only when she still had in mind, whether it was hatred or love, would she avoid all things that could have an influence on her. Malcolm was a nightmare in Lucia’s heart, which could not be taken away.
The car stopped in front of a famous Chinese restaurant in Madrid. Lucia looked at Tandy curiously. To his memory, he had never eaten Chinese food. Why did he choose such a restaurant tonight? Ignoring Lucia’s confusion, Tandy pulled the car into the parking lot and opened the door for her. A waiter quickly took them to the table that had been reserved by Tandy.
It was a position with excellent scenery. The restaurant was located at a certain height above sea level. From the specific angle, they could really have a panoramic view of half of Madrid. With high prices, the most authentic Chinese environment and authentic Chinese taste, the restaurant was the favorite of the rich locals in Madrid. It was difficult to occupy such an excellent table at mealtime.
“Why did you choose Chinese cuisine?” I don’t remember you ever having Chinese food,” Lucia asked after taking a seat.
“It came to mind, so I chose it. You like it, don’t you?” Tandy found a good reason.
Lucie smiled. She didn’t answer. Tandy put the menu in front of Lucia and motioned for her to order. Lucia didn’t refuse. She quickly ordered several specialties and returned the menu to the waiter. She looked up at Tandy. There was contradiction in her flickering eyes, but there was more determination. Lucia hadn’t seen such emotion in her eyes since for a long time. She lowered her eyes and looked out the window at the brightly lit Madrid for a long time. Tandy did not take the initiative to speak, allowing her to be in a daze.
The waiter served the dishes one after the other. Only then did Lucia come to her senses. She presented the dishes and their ingredients to Tandy one by one. Although Tandy listened attentively, he did not eat anything. Lucia lifted the chopsticks and placed them back on the table.
“Tandy, didn’t you just invite me to dinner today,” Lucia looked at him for a long time and finally said lightly.
Tandy seemed hesitant. The chopsticks he finally picked up stopped in the air for a long time because of Lucia’s words. Finally, he picked up some food and put it in his bowl. Then he put down his chopsticks, took a document out of his bag and handed it to Lucia.
Lucia raised her eyebrows in confusion, but she took the document anyway. After scanning it quickly, Lucia’s face changed slightly, but she quickly regained her composure. She handed the document back to Tandy and waited for him to speak first.
“Lucia, do you have any ideas after reading it? There was a hint of testing in Tandy’s words.
Lucia was thinking about what he had in mind, but she couldn’t easily understand it at the moment. The document was an investigative report on the current situation of the Evans Group. He only briefly explained that the Evans Group wanted to be the sole supplier of diamonds to a long-lasting jewelry brand in Europe: Queenword. Although Lucia did not participate in any activities related to the Evans Group, it did not mean that she knew nothing about the direction of the Evans Group in recent years.
After the crises were perfectly resolved at the time, nothing unexpected happened at the Evans Group mine in South Africa. More than a dozen top quality diamonds have been found there. It had become the first choice when first-class luxury jewelry brands in the world chose a partner. At present, if the Evans Group succeeded in becoming the sole supplier of Queenword, it would mean that the Evans Group had the absolute ability to monopolize the diamond supply market.
But why did Tandy show him this investigation report? Lucia looked him up and down.
“I have no idea. The Dresse Group is not involved in the jewelry industry, so it has nothing to do with us.” Lucia gave a stereotypical answer, which was the safest answer.
“Do you love him? Or do you hate him? Do you hate him for almost killing you?” Tandy suddenly asked a very simple question.
Lucia looked at him calmly, but her heart was touched by this question. She had hidden herself well. When she thought she didn’t care anymore, she was so openly exposed by Tandy. She discovered that she had been mistaken. Tandy also looked at Lucia. After years of experience, she no longer expressed her feelings directly in her clear eyes and had learned to hide them. He couldn’t understand what Lucia was thinking, but judging by Lucia’s slightly clenched fists, he knew she wasn’t that indifferent.
Tandy was the spectator, while Lucia was the player. He saw more than her. There was no doubt about Lowell’s love for Lucia. But Lucia felt more grateful and guilty towards him than loving him. She had already given her love to Malcolm. In Lucia’s heart, Malcolm had an unshakable position, no matter what he did. Lucie was stubborn. If she truly loved someone, she wouldn’t change, even if love destroyed her. That’s why she avoided anything related to the Evans group. Not to mention five years, even if she was given fifty years, she still couldn’t easily get out of the nightmare brought by Malcolm.
“Does it matter? Love and hate can change. If there was no love, there would be no hate either. Even if there was hate, so what? Over time, everything would become a nightmare in the end.” Lucia did not answer his question frankly.
“Lucia, what if I asked you to return to Strinas? Tandy cornered her step by step, leaving no room for Lucia to escape.
“For what?” Lucia looked directly into Tandy’s eyes. She needed an answer.
“Because I will use his b***d to mourn the Commander,” Tandy looked at Lucia for a long time and said word by word.
“Does this have anything to do with my return to Strinas?” » Lucia continued to ask.
“I want you to nail it,” Tandy said frankly. “In addition to his life, I will also destroy his dark force. I will make him pay the price for what he did to the Commander.” The hatred in Tandy’s eyes was so obvious that Lucia could see it clearly.
She didn’t immediately answer his question. Instead, she looked out the window. It seemed like she was watching the night scene in Madrid, but her eyes fell to the Far East. Just like her, no matter how many years had passed, such a nightmare would not be easily removed from Tandy’s heart. She didn’t know what Tandy had done in recent years, but she was sure he had never given up on revenge. Lowell’s death amounted to an irreparable injury to Tandy’s heart. The wound bled all the time, stinging his heart.
As for Lucia, the deaths of Lowell and Kathryn were also like an irreparable injury. After so many years, Kathryn and Lowell still appeared in Lucia’s dreams. Kathryn always laughed loudly, while Lowell always looked at Lucia sweetly. She always woke up straight when she dreamed of Lowell and Kathryn saving her at the cost of their own lives. Accompanied by the violent explosion, she sweated again and again.
Because she hid the fact that the twins’ father was Malcolm, Lucia felt sorry for Tandy. Under Tandy’s pressure, Lucia knew he had been perfectly prepared. Otherwise, he would not choose to fight with Malcolm, who was much more powerful than him. She sighed silently in her heart. Then, Lucia turned her eyes to Tandy.
“What do you want to do?” Lucia asked directly.
Staring at Lucia for a long moment, Tandy told her her plan. Lucia didn’t interrupt him until he finished his words. As soon as he finished speaking, he quietly ate the somewhat cold dishes in front of him, waiting for Lucia’s response.
“I can cooperate with you. I will go to the Middle East in person.” Lucia finally opened her mouth.
Tandy looked at Lucia in surprise. His response was far beyond his expectations. But Tandy frowned at Lucia’s suggestion. He would not let Lucia get involved in the chaotic situation in the Middle East, which would go against his original idea. Using Lucia was a risky move. Tandy wasn’t sure if his idea was good or bad. But without Lucia’s help, his chances of winning would be much lower.
“You don’t want me to corner him?” If I don’t show up, he could easily replace you, no matter what you did in the Middle East, right? This is the truth in both the Middle East and Strinas. Otherwise, you don’t have to make such a request, right?” Lucia looked at Tandy and said calmly.
“Thank you, Lucie.” Tandy looked at Lucia for a long time and thanked her lightly.
Without responding, Lucia lowered her head and started eating the food in front of her. Tandy didn’t say anything more. The atmosphere between the two seemed a little dull. Finally, after dinner, Tandy got up first. Lucia followed him out of the restaurant and went to the parking lot to get the car. On the way back, the two got quiet. Finally, the car stopped at the castle gate. Somehow
Kathy knew Tandy would show up tonight. She had been waiting for him at the castle gate. When she saw that his car had stopped, she immediately rushed towards him. Tandy supported her and went around, which made him made people laugh happily.
Lucia watched the scene quietly. She looked down. No matter how Tandy cornered her, she would consider it the first step out of the protection of the iron wall.
After all, she couldn’t escape what she had to face.
