It’s Love That Blinds Him – Chapter 52
No one other than Bob deserved to be the chief assistant to the CEO. Not only was he qualified for the role, but he was able to meet Malcolm’s demands unconditionally. Evans Group called a press conference, announcing that Malcolm was going to marry Lucia. However, they refused to have a media interview at the wedding. Instead, they would send a public press release to all media outlets right after the wedding. If anyone from the media tried to come to the wedding, they would be blacklisted by Evans Group forever. As soon as the statement was made, all the journalists gave up covering the story despite their interest. After all, no one wanted to risk the future of their business.
There was an ornate Gothic church in the suburbs of S City. The imposing spiers, slender vaults and sturdy columns of this church have made it the focal point of the visitor. This church has witnessed the birth of S City as well as the sacred marriages of countless new couples since its inception. Needless to say, several people tried to get an appointment to have their wedding there, but the church cooperated wholeheartedly with Malcolm. This was enough to show the influence Malcolm had on the town and its people.
Lucia sat quietly in the chair while Allen did her bridal makeup and fixed her hairstyle for the wedding. Instead of covering her face with foundation to please the newspapers, Allen made Lucia look more radiant and sophisticated with simple, light makeup. Her straight hair was pulled back into a bun and two thin strands of hair hung near her eyes.
Lucia’s wedding dress did not have a long train or a ball hem dress. She wore a traditional off-the-shoulder ivory dress, with a train and sequins, and a waist-length veil with beading and gold trim. The most eye-catching part of her dress was the crystal bridal belt that enveloped her slender figure, giving her an enchanting charm.
“Oh my God! Lucia, you are the most beautiful bride I have ever seen,” Sophia exclaimed.
She flew to Lucia’s wedding without hesitation. After all, most things in life could be replaced in one way or another, but true friends were hard to replace. She wouldn’t miss Lucia’s wedding for anything. She had always known that Lucia was a sexy and independent woman. It was the first time she saw Lucia look so elegant and graceful.
Only a woman in love would hide her arrogance and embrace her dignified and elegant side. Lucia was the best example.
“I’m so happy to see you, Sophia,” Lucia said happily, hugging her warmly.
There weren’t many guests from Lucia’s side of the family because she was an orphan. The only guests she invited to the wedding were Sophia and her brother, her colleagues at DZ Media, Kathryn and the director of the orphanage she grew up in. And today, it’s the director of the orphanage who would walk her down the aisle on her father’s behalf.
As for Malcolm’s guests, except for Enoch and Wilma, the rest of the guests were Malcolm’s confidants, and not even a single person from the business community was invited to the wedding.
When the wedding procession began, Lucia hooked her arm with the director’s and walked down the aisle as a flower girl wobbled behind them, scattering flower petals. Lucia had learned to maintain a calm composure in her professional life over the years. But today, she couldn’t stop her heart from pounding in her chest. Every step forward she took reminded her that she was moving away from her old life and starting a new journey.
Malcolm was dressed in a silver-gray handmade suit, a black shirt paired with a tie and cufflinks in the same color palette. His clean and dapper appearance complimented his calm and reserved character. He was waiting at the other end of the aisle, holding a bouquet of white calla lilies. Today, for a change, he didn’t seem cold and intimidating. He had a rare smile on his face that brightened his expression.
When Lucia stood in front of Malcolm, he handed her the flowers. With tears in his eyes, the director handed Lucia over to Malcolm. After all, he had known her since she was just a child. He always remembered her as an independent, unbridled and arrogant girl. He never thought that one day he would walk Lucia down the aisle to her new life.
The maid of honor, Sophia, was bawling her eyes out the whole time. Maybe the reason behind it was the atmosphere or the happy smile on her friend’s face. The tears that fell from her sentimental eyes were not from sadness, but from the pure joy of seeing her friend marry the man of her dreams.
Oddly enough, Kathryn never thought that of all people Lucia would invite her to the wedding. Needless to say, she was quite surprised when she received an invitation from him in person. She was amazed by how beautiful Lucia looked in her wedding dress today. There was a part of her that still envied Lucia and this lingering feeling brought sadness to her heart. “Will I ever have the opportunity to be as happy as Lucia? »
“I trust you to keep Lucia happy. Sometimes things are going to get difficult, but you always have to trust and help each other. It’s the only way you can spend the rest of your lives together. Since you two love, never give up on each other. If you have a clear mind, you can overcome any obstacle in life, no matter how difficult it is,” the director told Malcolm. The latter listened quietly then responded with a nod.
“Lucia, you grew up to be a wonderful woman. You have always been independent and free. I hope you stay that way all your life. I just hope that in the future you are able to smile and be free and easy as you are now. I wish you a lifetime of happiness, Lucia,” said the director, looking at Lucia with tears in his eyes.
Lucia smiled and nodded respectfully. Were all women this sentimental on their wedding day? Then, she hugged the director, hugging him tightly as tears streamed down her face. Letting go of the director, she wiped the tears from her face with the back of her hand.
The director smiled, took Lucia’s hand and gently placed it in Malcolm’s. Then he quietly walked away. The couple then looked at each other before walking towards the priest standing at the end of the red carpet. As the director silently watched them from behind, he willingly let his tears fall from his eyes. He sniffed back some tears then slowly took out a tissue to wipe the tears from his face.
‘Lucia, I hope you have a happy life.’
Lucia and Malcolm were about to begin an important new chapter in their lives together. Lucia didn’t know if she had made the right choice, or what would happen in the future. However, she knew that if she didn’t fight for her happiness, she would regret it for the rest of her life. Even if she ended up getting hurt, at least she could tell herself that she was doing her best.
Arm in arm, Malcolm and Lucia stood before the priest.
“Do you, Malcolm Evans, take the person who stands before you to be your legally wedded partner, to have and to hold from this day forward, for better or for worse, for the richest, for the poorest, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish; from this day until death do you part?
“I do.” There was firmness in Malcolm’s tone as he spoke of his conviction for this marriage.
“Do you, Lucia Garcia, take this man who stands before you to be your lawful partner, to have and to keep from this day forward, for better or for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and cherish; from this day until death do you separate?
“I do.” Lucia spoke with satisfying confidence.
“You may now exchange rings,” the priest announced loudly.
Sophia came forward and gave them the rings. Malcolm picked up Lucia’s ring and gently slipped it onto his ring finger. It was a simple silver ring. Lucia was surprised to see the initials of their names engraved on it.
As she smiled, she picked up Malcolm’s ring and put it on her ring finger. The tradition of wearing a wedding ring on the ring finger arose from the belief that this finger has a vein that runs directly to the heart. Lucia stared at the ring on her finger for a moment, but she didn’t say anything.
“Malcolm, will I ever be able to reach the deepest part of your heart? »
“Now I officially declare you, husband and wife. Mr. Evans, you may now k**s the bride.”
As soon as the priest said these words, the whole church burst into enthusiastic applause. A smile appeared at the corners of Malcolm’s lips as he lifted Lucia’s veil, revealing her beautiful face. It was the first time he saw her like this. For a moment he stared at her, stunned, before coming to his senses.
“Wildcat…” He pressed his lips to hers and kissed her affectionately.
Lucia’s heart soared as she wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed him back. They kissed until they were out of breath, then they parted from each other with smiling faces. The loving couple was greeted with cheers, applause and tears of joy from everyone in the church.
“Hey, Malcolm. I am your wife, Lucia, she said, smiling shyly at him.
“Hello, my dear wife,” Malcolm said with a smile.
When he first met Lucia, he was attracted to her. She reminded him of that woman. To him, Lucia was like a bright star in a dark night that dazzled him so brightly that he couldn’t take his eyes off her. So he asked the waiter to give him a drink. He nodded at the beginning of their intimacy. However, he also appreciated their differences because he knew they weren’t exactly the same. His crush needed to be confirmed, and now she was his.
After the ceremony, Malcolm and Lucia came out and stood in front of the flower-adorned door of the church as their family and friends followed. The photographer who was waiting for them outside finally used his camera and captured their most beautiful moment.
“Lucia, throw the bouquet…Now that you’re happy, you should celebrate with your single friends and wish them luck in love,” Hayes shouted, trying to liven up the atmosphere.
“Yes! Hurry up!”
Lucia smiled from ear to ear as she turned around and stood straight with the bouquet in her hands. The people around her began to shout: “Three, two, one…” As soon as they counted to one, Lucia threw the bridal bouquet into the audience in a wide arc. There weren’t many women in the crowd. They went crazy for the bridal bouquet. Maybe it was just for fun or maybe they were secretly longing for happiness after seeing the happy bride today.
The bouquet eventually ended up in Kathryn’s hands. There was a look of stunned disbelief on his face. It was said that whoever caught the bouquet would be supposed to be the next one down the aisle. ‘Really? Will it really be my turn? Kathryn smiles at the prospect of a bright future.
“Wow! Good for her!” Everyone started laughing again.
Lucia was a little surprised to see Kathryn with the bouquet. “Kathryn, I pray that you can spend your life with the one you love. I believe he will fall in love with you one day.
You deserve to be happy too.
“Lucia, I wish you a happy married life,” Zack said, as he walked over to Lucia and hugged her.
However, as he looked at Malcolm, his expression darkened. When Malcolm looked at him, Zack smiled menacingly and kissed Lucia on her cheeks. Lucia was stunned for a moment, but she accepted it happily. She expected so much from Zack because he was a light-hearted person with a carefree attitude.
Plus, Zack was just deliberately trying to annoy Malcolm for fun. After so many years, he still liked to play this kind of game to challenge the bottom line of Malcolm’s anger. However, since something happened, such anger had disappeared. Malcolm’s face always wore a slight smile, and the dark smile had become his symbol.
Malcolm still found her smile exasperating. “Do you want to make Lucia happy?” » A hint of coldness passed through Zack’s eyes.
After the group photo was taken with the bride and groom, Lucia and Malcolm set off for the wedding banquet. However, unlike most large hotel banquets, theirs was a mere buffer on the meadows behind the Evans family mansion.
The whole wedding was a representation of their love: simple and wholesome. As long as they were part of each other’s world, their love would be enough to make them happy.
