It’s Love That Blinds Him – Chapter 54
As soon as Lucia reached the door, she saw Bob dutifully waiting for her. He led her to the VIP lounge, where Malcolm was waiting for her. Today, instead of his usual suit, he wore casual clothes that gave him a different charm.
“Is that all you’re wearing?” Have you checked the rest of your luggage?” Looking at the two travel bags in front of her, Lucia was a little surprised.
She always thought that when the rich went on vacation, they took a group of servants with them, traveling in the first class cabin and wore a multitude of different clothes every day. Not to mention that they would carry a large sum of money and several credit cards. So, in Lucia’s eyes, Malcolm, with only two travel bags next to him, didn’t look at all ready to travel.
“We’re just traveling, right? Do you have a business meeting?” Malcolm asked indifferently.
“Shall we travel on foot? Lucia asked with a smile, raising her eyebrows.
“Whatever you want,” Malcolm said flatly. .
When they heard the broadcast announcement of the plane’s arrival, the two stopped talking. They went to the boarding gate and boarded the plane in advance. On the way, Malcolm didn’t let Lucia carry anything. He walked with one hand carrying all their luggage, and the other casually wrapped around his waist.
Soon, the plane took off from S City and flew to Kathmandu, the capital from Nepal. On the plane, Lucia closed her eyes to rest. After covering her with a blanket, Malcolm also fell asleep next to her.
Once they landed in Kathmandu, they They both got off the plane. As they had no other luggage, they left the plane without incident. After completing some basic formalities, they left the airport. Then they hired a car and drove to their destination, Bhaktapur.
With a pair of sunglasses shielding his eyes, Malcolm focused on driving. Lucia, who was wearing a pair of flip-flops, casually placed her right ankle on her left knee and leaned back in the seat. His eyes, which were also hidden behind a pair of sunglasses, were closed at the moment, and the brim of his large hat covered his face. At that moment, she felt lucky that she couldn’t drive. As long as she remained seated, she would have someone to drive her to her destination. Plus, she wouldn’t have to worry about whether she would need to drive when the other person was tired.
She opened one eye and glanced at Malcolm through the sunglasses. There was no trace of exhaustion on the man’s face. Even after a long flight, it seemed like he was still full of energy. “What is his body made of? Steel?’ Thinking of this, Lucia remembered a novel she had read some time ago, and all kinds of images came to her mind.
“What are you thinking about?” Malcolm asked, glancing at Lucia.
Not only did he notice her looking at him, but he also noticed the smug, mischievous look on her face. He had long understood that she had no qualms about behaving casually in front of him, without pretension. Now he could see that she was thinking about something interesting, because even the sunglasses couldn’t hide the happy look in her eyes.
“Ah…” Lucia was shocked by Malcolm’s sudden question. “Nothing, I just remembered something I read a while ago. It made me smile.” She gave a vague explanation.
She didn’t dare tell him that she imagined him as the protagonist who turned into a robot. She couldn’t guarantee he wouldn’t throw her out of the car in anger.
Without saying anything, Malcolm turned his attention back to the road ahead and focused on driving. Smiling again, Lucia turned her head and looked out the window at the passing landscape.
Sitting like this, she dozed off long before they reached Bhaktapur. It was only when the car stopped in front of the hotel they had booked that Malcolm woke Lucia. Instead of staying in a luxury hotel, the two chose to stay in a small local hotel in town. Only in this way could they fully experience the native charm of a strange city.
After checking into the hotel, the two put on backpacks and strolled along the roads of Bhaktapur, beginning their journey. They didn’t have a specific itinerary. Lucia just wanted to quietly experience the magic of this famous ancient city, which was the most famous city in Nepal and attracted a lot of tourists.
The two of them walked along the smooth roads of Bhaktapur, paved with khaki stones. All around them were exquisite constructions of yellow stone and wood, which made the blue sky seem deep and distant. The stone statues carved on the buildings looked calm and peaceful in the sunlight and had their faces turned downward, as if observing every passerby.
There was not a single building in Bhaktapur with more than four floors. At the bottom of each building was a store, which supported an entire family. And behind each store was a family residence, where people lived a peaceful life. So, when passing these buildings, Malcolm and Lucia often saw women carrying cans of water in the depths of the alleys. The women were dressed in traditional clothing and ordinary slippers. Early in the morning, young mothers brushed their teeth with one hand, while holding out the other hand to command their children.
Lucia loved the quiet but buzzing energy of this ancient place. The two strolled through the historical sites that had existed for thousands of years, before replaceing a quiet place to enjoy a cup of fragrant tea. In the evening, they watched the sun gradually disappear from the horizon.
“You like being here so much?” » Malcolm asked softly, holding Lucia in his arms.
“Yes.” Leaning on Malcolm’s shoulder, Lucia watched the sun slowly slip below the horizon.
“Today is my ideal day. In the morning, watching people making handmade porcelain in the square, I can get lost in my own thoughts. In the afternoon, I can replace a cafe with a beautiful view and gaze at all of Bhaktapur. At night, I can eat the popular local food. And when I’m full, I can take a camera and take beautiful photos of the divine temples,” Lucia explained with a dreamy sigh.
“We can come back next year,” Malcolm spoke softly, wrapping his arm tightly around Lucia.
“Really? I didn’t expect you to enjoy a trip like this.” Lucia’s voice rose in surprise, and she looked at him warily.
Without saying anything, Malcolm just held her and watched the sunset with her.
Over the next few days, they walked hand in hand through the streets of Bhaktapur. In this quiet city with dense architecture, they watched the residents peacefully live their lives and enjoyed the atmosphere of the city.
In the center of Bhaktapur was Durbar Square, where the oldest group of buildings stood, each from a different era. All kinds of temples, pagodas and statues were densely packed in the city center and hidden alleys. This place was considered living ruins, even an open-air museum.
“Hey, Malcolm…” Lucia suddenly called Malcolm, who was looking at the ancient building in front of him.
When Malcolm turned to look at Lucia, she quickly clicked a photo of him with the camera in his hands. There was a glint of irritation in Malcolm’s eyes, but it disappeared as soon as it came. He acquiesced to Lucia’s behavior and did not stop her. When Malcolm did not protest, Lucia became more and more unrestrained. She continued to take pictures of him all day.
The footage covered multiple locations and showed Malcolm from all sorts of different angles. Lucia was so excited about photographing Malcolm that she completely immersed herself in it.
“Wildcat,” Malcolm called after a moment.
“Hmm? » Lucia stopped what she was doing and looked at him suspiciously. Seeing that he was staring at the camera in his hands, she quickly hid it behind her. “Is he angry?” »
“Come here.” Malcolm waved at Lucia, motioning her to move forward.
Lucia cautiously walked towards him step by step, wondering what he wanted to do. Looking at his impassive face, she couldn’t guess at all what he was thinking.
“We don’t have a photo together, do we?” asked Malcolm.
When Lucia heard this, her face softened and her steps became more energetic. Marriage was a simple thing. It seemed that the two had a tacit understanding. None of them insisted on taking wedding photos. They were happy to have a simple wedding ceremony, attended by a few close friends and family.
Malcolm took the camera from Lucia, then took a tripod out of his backpack. After setting up the tripod and placing the camera on it, he adjusted the height and angle until it was perfect. Then he pulled Lucia out and pressed the timer button. Seconds later, the very first photo of them together was captured by the camera. Lucia’s expression seemed a little surprised, while Malcolm seemed calmer than ever.
After recovering from her surprise, Lucia started taking a series of photos, as if she was addicted to them. Malcolm thoughtfully played along, letting her do what she wanted. Suddenly, Lucia threw her arms around Malcolm and hugged him like a koala. Just as the photo was about to be taken, she leaned over and kissed him on the lips.
As she was about to walk away, Malcolm’s arms wrapped around her and held her in place. His lips found hers again and his tongue slipped between her slightly parted lips. Lucia’s hands held his neck as she kissed him wildly back. Under the afterglow of the setting sun, the newly married couple were caught in a tight embrace as they kissed passionately, leaving two long shadows on the ground.
That night, back at the hotel, Lucia looked at the photos in the camera one by one. Malcolm had just gotten out of the shower. Drying his head with a towel, he walked towards Lucia.
“Malcolm, you’re so photogenic. Why do you hate taking photos so much?” Lucia asked with a sigh as she looked at the photos she took of him.
“Do you still call me Malcolm?” Malcolm asked unhappily with a frown.
Lucia turned her head and looked at him in confusion. “What did I say wrong?” » she wondered.
“Honey, or Malc. Pick one. I’d better not hear you call me Malcolm again,” Malcolm said coldly, lifting his chin for her to look at him. His eyes were firm and irresistible. Lucia winced at first, but after freeing herself from his grip, she raised her hand to hold his face and said in a low voice, “Dear Malc… What do you say to that?”
As soon as she finished her words, she couldn’t control the laughter that left her lips, which soon turned into a fit of uncontrollable laughter. Although Malcolm looked bored on the surface, his eyes were full of tenderness.
Overall, their trip was simple and relaxed. Every day they walked the streets together, watched the sunset while holding each other, and enjoyed passionate nights at the hotel. That’s when Lucia really felt that Malcolm loved her. In this atmosphere, he was ready to show her the simplest and most sincere love.
When they boarded the plane home, Malcolm settled into his seat and closed his eyes to take a nap. Out of the corner of her eye, Lucia glanced at him. All of a sudden, he seemed distant again.
All the enthusiasm and joy he had shown her in recent days had been hidden under his eyelids as soon as the plane took off. Their journey was over, and everything returned to square one.
