It’s Love That Blinds Him – Chapter 62
” Lucy? Are you tired? Do you want to leave? You don’t look good,” Malcolm said worriedly as he studied Lucia’s face.
“Yeah, let’s go,” Lucia said, rubbing her stomach as the dull pain pounded her again.
Malcolm took Lucia in his arms and left early, without bothering to tell anyone. One of the reporters managed to take a photo of their retreating figures. Malcolm didn’t pay attention to the reporter, his full attention was focused on Lucia.
“You need to go to the hospital,” he said.
“No. I want to go home. The doctor is going to laugh at us if we go to the hospital because of menstrual cramps,” Lucia persisted.
Malcolm looked at her again, but remained silent. He helped her into the car and said for the driver to take them back to the apartment. When they got home, Lucia went into the bathroom to take a shower. Once she was clean and comfortable, she climbed into bed. Malcolm went straight to his office . Lucia didn’t know how long she stayed awake before she finally fell asleep. She vaguely remembered Malcolm pulling her into his arms. She squirmed until she was comfortable enough to go back to sleep .
When Lucia woke up the next day, there was no one else in the apartment. The only other thing she found was breakfast on the dining table. The pain in Lucia’s stomach was still there .As she struggled through breakfast, she began to seriously consider whether or not she should go to the hospital.
The moment the thought entered his mind, the pain disappeared. Lucia pouted and furrowed her brows in confusion. She collapsed onto the couch with a strained g***n.
In the group Evans
Malcolm sat at his desk, almost motionless except for the rhythmic tapping of his fingers on his desk. Enoch paced in front of his desk. Every now and then he would glance at Malcolm, shake his head, and continue walking.
“Malcolm, I really didn’t know that Renee was the director of SNG Radio. If I had known, I never would have placed the ad with them,” Enoch finally muttered.
He glanced at Malcolm’s somber expression, then ran his fingers through his hair agitatedly. Renee was the dark side of Malcolm that he didn’t want anyone to know about. Of all the battles Malcolm and this man had fought, Renee was the greatest defeat Malcolm had ever suffered. She was the unforgivable insult that Malcolm would never forget.
“Change plans.
Before Enoch could finish what he wanted to say, Malcolm interrupted him. In a voice colder than the deadliest night, he said: “I don’t care about damages. Remove all advertising materials. Have DZ Media look for another company. So tell them I want their next advertising strategy changes. As with SNG radio, apply as much pressure as necessary. Tell them they can comply or collapse. Leave the decision to them.”
“I will,” Enoch replied.
“If you have nothing else to say, leave. Oh, and give me a date with Sloan,” Malcolm said indifferently, having once again regained his usual composure.
“Sloan?” Is Lucy pregnant?” Enoch asked in surprise.
His surprise was well justified because Sloan was the director of the best private hospital in S City. It was no secret that he had the best doctors, drugs and all the latest medical technologies. The hospital also operated on the VIP system. It catered primarily to the rich and famous, leaving ordinary people to fend for themselves. And so, it was natural for Enoch to assume that Lucia was pregnant if Malcolm asked for a meeting with Sloan.
“No. Just for some other basic exams,” Malcolm said, offering no further explanation.
“I got it. I’ll tell Sloan to take some time for herself.” Enoch nodded.
With nothing left to say or report, Enoch left Malcolm’s office to carry out his orders. “Why did Renee suddenly reappear? Enoch asked, as endless possibilities swirled through his mind. Briefly, he wallowed in his own self-pity, mourning the fact that there had been no good news lately. He couldn’t simply not understanding why someone who had been missing for years would suddenly resurface at such a critical time.
Once Enoch had left his office and the door had closed, Malcolm got up and went to stand in front of the large French windows. He looked at the landscape below with a deep, thoughtful expression. Even though the sun had pleasantly warmed the room, the coldness of his gaze seemed to lower the temperature of the air around him. Malcolm’s eyes roamed the city, carefully tracing all the roads and buildings, until he focused on a single spot; like a hawk sharpening a mouse.
Malcolm’s phone started ringing. Slowly, he looked away from the building and back to his office. He checked the caller ID, then clicked the answer button. But he didn’t speak. He just held his phone to his ear and stood silently until the caller spoke first.
“Sir, he entered Asia some time ago. We don’t have his exact location at the moment, but we are working on it,” Kaleb said respectfully.
“Asia? What is happening in Burma?” Malcolm asked.
“Nothing unusual happened here. Everything is fine for now,” Kaleb said after a moment of thought.
“Keep a close eye on our factories in Asia. I don’t want any errors. Do you understand?” Malcolm warned.
“Yes. I understand, Kaleb said carefully.
It would be stupid not to understand Malcolm’s meaning. They couldn’t have a repeat of what happened in the Middle East. In the Middle East, he didn’t even do it himself; he just made Howell do it. Now that he was in Asia and decided to do something himself, the results would be disastrous. If something like this happened, the people working for Malcolm thought it would be easier to commit suicide than accept responsibility.
Malcolm hung up and sat back elegantly at his desk. He sighed softly, exhaling the vivid memories so he could focus on the present. His eyes were focused on the computer screen, observing the ever-changing data that flickered on the surface. Then he gave a hint of a smile, but it didn’t reach his eyes.
“What are you going to do this time?” »
In SNG radio
“What did you just say?” Rex shouted to his secretary.
“Sir, the message we received from Evans Group explicitly stated that they would cancel the cooperation,” his secretary said shyly, taking a step back to avoid his rage.
But then again, Rex’s anger was understandable. Everyone knew how much effort he had spent to win the Evans Group contract. Undoubtedly, SNG Radio would suffer heavy losses if Evans Group canceled the contract, regardless of the amount of damages paid. The business community already thought something was wrong with SNG Radio. They never even stopped to consider that perhaps the fault lay with Evans Group.
“Did they say why they wanted to cancel the contract? Did they replace fault with us?” Rex closed his eyes and quickly calmed down. He had to think rationally about this.
“Yes…” The secretary was starting to wiggle his fingers nervously now.
“So tell me! Are you waiting? Are you going to keep it a secret until we’re the laughing stock of the entire business world?” In his rage, Rex picked up a file that was lying on his desk and threw it at his secretary.
“They said they would destroy SNG Radio unless Renee was removed from office,” the secretary said, his eyes glued to the floor. He knew Rex was going to be furious at the news, and the last thing he knew “What he wanted was to become a target for his temper.
“Renée? For what? Did she offend Evans Group in any way? Call Renee.” Rex calmed down again.
“Sure thing.” The secretary quickly picked up the various items scattered on the floor and hurried out.
Rex didn’t have to wait long until there was a knock on his door. He calmly told the visitor to come in and watched as the door opened. Renée entered and stood in front of Rex.
“Did you want to see me, Rex? said Renée in a pleasant tone.
“Is there any sort of hard feelings between you and Evans Group? Rex asked without hesitation. He stared directly at her, hoping to see a glimmer of emotion on her face.
“Why do you ask?” Renee asked cautiously, barely managing to contain the feelings of sadness bubbling in her chest.
“They canceled cooperation. They also threatened to destroy us as long as you maintained your position,” Rex said.
Renee clenched her fists at her sides. She couldn’t control the growing displeasure in her chest. For now, she just stayed silent and stared at Rex. His expression was hardened with determination. Rex raised his eyebrows questioningly as he stared at her. He didn’t say anything either.
Renée hadn’t been a member of SNG Radio for a long time. She had been editor-in-chief of a Spanish magazine which had some influence on the field in which she had worked. Rex had met Renee by pure chance during one of his business trips to Europe. After their first meeting, they had met on several other occasions and gotten to know each other better.
Rex was immediately impressed with Renee’s work ethic and abilities. He repeatedly offered her a position in the company, but she refused. It was only when she learned that SNG Radio was going to cooperate with Evans Group that she agreed. In his excitement, Rex had forgotten to do some basic checks on her. They signed the contract and he gave her the position of regional director in Asia. Through this, it was pretty obvious that he considered her an important person.
But as Rex looked at her now, he realized that things might be more complicated than he had first thought. “Renee only agreed to work for me after discovering the cooperation with Evans Group. Does that mean she’s here because of someone from the Evans group?’ he wondered.
“I will take full responsibility,” Renée said firmly.
“How? They canceled the contract and faxed the agreement. If I’m honest, this really came as a surprise. I didn’t expect something like this to happen. When I hired you, I “I thought you would help SNG Radio develop for the better. But this? This is not what I wanted,” Rex said regretfully.
“Give me three days. I’ll change their minds,” Renée said after a moment’s thought.
Rex nodded. Deeming the conversation over, Renée turned and left the office. As she unclenched her fists, she looked down at her hands. She had clenched her fists so hard that her nails had dug little half-moons into her palms. Slowly, she reached into her pocket and pulled out her phone. She scrolled through her contact list until she found the number and name she was looking for. For a long moment, she looked down at her phone as her mind ran through all the different possibilities. Finally, she dialed the number.
“Enoch, it’s me,” Renee said softly when the phone was picked up.
“Renee?” » said Enoch surprised.
“I have to ask you a favor,” Renee said after a thoughtful pause.
“If it comes to the contract, I can’t help. No one will change my brother’s mind,” Enoch said immediately.
“Please, just make an appointment for me to see Malcolm,” Renee said, almost speaking to him in her haste to make her request known.
“What happened between you and Malcolm?” Enoch asked coldly.
“He and I have a misunderstanding. Please make an appointment for me so I can talk to him and sort this out,” Renee said sadly.
“Fine. I’ll try my best.” Enoch’s heart softened.
“Don’t tell him it’s me. Otherwise, he will refuse immediately,” Renee said helplessly.
“Wait for my call,” Enoch said, then hung up.
Renee slowly pulled her phone from her ear. At that moment, she swore she would take back whatever she had lost.
