It’s Love That Blinds Him – Chapter 79
“What’s up? Still feeling down?” Lowell’s soft voice came from above Lucia.
“I’m fine. I just feel like I’m causing Kenneth a lot of trouble.” Lucia glanced out the window from time to time.
The newspaper caused a sensation. People passing the cafe looked around the shop, trying to spot Lucia. Although they didn’t look at her rudely, their expressions made her feel uncomfortable.
“How about you come home with me?” Lowell suggested.
“Your place?” With a confused look, Lucia tried to understand what he meant.
“Yes. My house. There are still a lot of empty rooms. You can stay with me for a while. I don’t think the journalists will be able to replace you there.” As Lowell explained, he looked at her, waiting for her response.
“Thank you, Lowell. Sometimes I feel lucky to have people who are always willing to help me when I need it most. But I don’t think it will be a good idea for me to stay with you. I do not want to disturb. It’s not like I have nowhere to go.” Although Lucia said this with a grateful smile, she still refused him. She felt like
it was strangely romantic. Maybe that the k**s under the starry night had changed her feelings a little. Thinking about it, she couldn’t help but laugh at herself. Apparently, she was not a chaste woman as she thought. While “She was alone, a man’s gentleness could always win her heart.
If that hadn’t been the case, then how could she and Malcolm have ended up in the situation they found themselves in now? laughed at herself for being so stupid.
“Why are you laughing?” Lowell asked out of curiosity, changing the subject.
“I’m laughing at myself,” Lucia replied honestly.
“Lucia, you can always tell me replace out if you need me,” Lowell assured him.
She stood up and leaned over to hug him. She then sat down. Lowell was speechless. Things seemed to have returned to the first meeting: they shared a table but did not speak to each other. After bringing them coffee and desserts, Kenneth left without saying a word.
“Do you want to buy some food?” Lowell asked after seeing Lucia being silent for a long time.
“Okay. Where are we going?” Lucie raised her head.
“Just come with me,” Lowell replied, ignoring her question.
He then stood up, glanced at her and held out his hand. Lucia put her hand in his. When Lowell picked her up, she staggered. With a slight smile, he put his arm around her waist to keep her from falling.
Smiling, she followed him outside. As soon as she got into her car, she rolled down the window, letting the cool breeze ruffle her hair. Lowell looked at her before starting to focus on driving. When he stopped the car at a noisy place, Lucia looked at him in confusion.
“You’ve never been to this place before?” he asked casually.
“I’m just wondering why you brought me here.” Lucia was visibly confused and thought it was strange.
It was a crowded street with food stalls everywhere. The aroma of fried foods, garlic and green onions entered her nostrils, tempting her. Everyone’s face was red from the bright flames of the stove. The guests were drinking and playing games with passion.
“Everyone here is a great cook,” Lowell explained with a calm expression.
“Come on, let’s go already.” Food really tempts me,” Lucia said enthusiastically.
Delicious food was all she needed to make her forget her sadness and worries. Lucia was so immersed in the excitement of delicious, fresh food. She grabbed Lowell’s hand and dragged him to one of the food stalls. With a slight smile, Lowell didn’t want to stop him.
“Do you have a specific stand you like? » Lucia asked with a casual smile as they approached the stalls.
“All the stalls here are equally good, so let’s eat here,” he replied softly.
He stopped in front of a table and Lucia did the same. Only then did she realize that she was still holding his hand and quickly released it. Lowell just smiled at him without saying anything. He sat casually at the table, and she sat across from him.
The stall owner brought them a menu card, and after looking through it, they ordered random dishes and a few bottles of beer. One of the best things about eating at the food stall was that the food was served quickly. Soon, all the dishes they had ordered were at the table in front of them.
“Here’s a toast to forgetting all the problems and starting again,” Lucia said loudly as she filled both of their glasses with beer.
Lowell also raised his glass. Once he finished his beer, he saw that Lucia had also finished drinking. Over time, they finished all the bottles of beer and food. They had drunk nearly three cases of beer. Lucia’s vision was starting to get a little blurry at this point. Lowell looked at Lucia. He paid the bill, picked up Lucia and headed to his car.
“Oh my God… This is the kind of life I want,” Lucia said with an insult as she let out a gasp.
“Well, this life suits you, doesn’t it? You seem so carefree, like nothing can bring you down,” Lowell said in a calm voice.
Instead of starting the car, he rolled down the windows to get rid of the smell of alcohol. Lucia sobered up a little, probably because of the cool breeze. She wasn’t used to getting drunk on beers, but her sorrows had pushed her to it.
“I don’t want to go back to my old life. I don’t want that at all,” she said slowly.
“But you’ve already made progress, haven’t you?” » Lowell asked softly.
“Lowell, do you know the kind of feeling you get when you can’t forget something? It’s like he’s a demon, eating my heart, swallowing it. When I finally came to, I was already too deeply integrated into him. It’s like it’s been carved into my bones. There’s nothing I can do about it, and it makes me feel so helpless. Just by looking at his eyes, I can imagine what tone he’s going to use. What a terrible thing!” Lucia’s voice was full of sarcasm.
“It seems like you like him very much,
“Yes, I love him. If I hadn’t, then why would I be heartbroken now? And the worst part is, I don’t know how or when I fell in love with him. May “Maybe I fell in love with him the very first time I laid eyes on him. Love at first sight is such a painful and miserable thing,” Lucia said softly, deep in thought.
“Will you be able to love someone else? Lowell asked, staring deep into her eyes.
“Well, it’s hard to say…” She frowned, not knowing what to say. “I think I will. Like you said, I’m a carefree woman, so as long as I forget about him, I can fall for another man. It’s not like I’m a very happy woman. chaste or whatever… Seems like it doesn’t take much to make my heart swing.” As she said this, she burst out laughing.
“Your heart is so precious. It’s just that the man you love doesn’t know how to cherish you. Maybe he still hasn’t figured out how to make you feel loved.” Lowell’s voice came after a long minute of silence.
“Damn it! Even if he wanted to cherish me, I wouldn’t care…” Lucia lost control of her feelings. She started laughing and crying at the same time.
“Just let all your feelings flow out. Once you’re done crying, you’ll feel better. It’s so restrictive to hold your emotions in,” Lowell says softly.
“Lend me your shoulder, then,” Lucia said immediately.
Before he could even move, she buried her face in his arms and began to m**n. The alcohol made her heart overflow with all the sadness she had been holding. She cried until her voice was hoarse and her eyes were dry. Lowell looked at her and thought for a moment before hugging her.
He suddenly felt a light flashing behind him and became alert. He turned around, but there was no one there.
Lowell then continued to comfort Lucia, who was crying in his arms. A little later, Lucia looked up, wiped her tears like a child, took out a handkerchief and cleaned her face. As she was drunk, she felt a shooting pain in her head and was unable to stand up on her own.
She was embarrassed when she saw that she had wet her shirt with her tears. “I’ll buy you a new shirt tomorrow.”
“Ah, it’s okay. It’s just a shirt, after all.” Lowell waved to assure him that everything was fine.
“Let’s turn around and wake me up when we get there.” » With a smile, she leaned against the window.
She wanted to go back to sleep. She was exhausted and soon fell asleep in the passenger seat. After looking at her, Lowell rolled up the windows and walked to the cafe
. Once he stopped the car next to the cafe, he glanced at her. She was sleeping soundly. He could see she was still upset as she frowned even in her sleep. He leaned down and kissed her gently on the forehead before opening the door and heading towards the cafe.
It was eleven o’clock in the evening, so the café was closed. Kenneth didn’t like doing business after nine in the evening because it was his private time. Lowell glanced up at the second floor and noticed that the lights were out, so after thinking for a moment, he returned to his car.
“Lucia, we arrived, but it looks like Kenneth has gone to bed. Would you like me to call him and ask him to open the door for you?” he asked softly, but there was a bright light in his eyes.
“If he’s sleeping, then don’t disturb him,” Lucia replied in a daze. She was still sleepy.
“Where would you like to go then?” » Lowell asked.
“Well, it’s up to you.” With that, Lucia turned over and fell asleep again.
After looking at her, Lowell started the car and drove to his villa. His villa was in an independent community where outsiders were not allowed to enter. Lowell parked his car in the garage, opened the door, got out of the car, walked to the other side, opened the door, carried Lucia in his arms, and headed straight to his room on the second floor.
He took a clean towel out of the bathroom and gently wiped away her dried tears. He then tucked her in and watched her sleep. After thinking for a while, he leaned down and kissed her lips.
“Good night my queen.”
He stared at her deeply. Lowell turned off all the lights except for a dim nightlight before leaving the room.
Even though it was late and cold at night, his warmth touched his heart.
