Prologue

"I promised you, didn't I?" He whispered, not hiding his satisfaction.

She stood still, trying to hide her tears from him. Her heart was slowly shattering into pieces, pieces sharp and painful like glass. She didn't want to give in to her pain, or to show it to him, even one bit. Staring at the window like a stubborn statue, she watched the snowfall, slowly covering the winter garden in silence, unable to say a word. Sturdy arms surrounded her waist, holding her, and he put his head on her shoulder, gently kissing her neck. She shivered upon feeling his cold breath.

"I always said you would be mine..."
