Chapter 305
The two cars raced down Ambrose Street, overtaking each other occasionally. It was a very tight race. Millie had indeed shown up in anger. Hence, she drove with a ferocity. However, her techniques were a little rusty compared to years ago.
The presence of the blue car excited her. This was a much more intriguing race than the one at Python Mountain, thanks to her formidable rival.
The blue car once again caught up with Millie’s car. According to the GPS, they would reach the finish line after the next corner.
Pursing her lips, she gripped her steering wheel and shot a serious look at her rival’s car. Shaun stared at her simultaneously. She peered into his dark eyes.
In the next moment, he sped up to overtake her car. Eyes glimmering, she accelerated as well.
The race reached a climax as the racers reached the finish line. The two cars dashed through the line almost at the same time amidst the applause of onlookers.
“Who won?”
“Damn it! They crossed the line at the same time, it seems. Did anyone see who crossed the line first?
“I’m dying to know.”
The other racers looked nervous, excited, and curious about the winner.
Millie parked her car and panted heavily as she leaned back in her seat. She felt cathartic when she replayed the scene of tossing the evidence in Winston’s face.
She relished the moment she announced to everyone in the office that she wasn’t the loser they thought her to be. And she reveled in humiliating Logan with the two million dollars.
After all these years of enduring humiliation, she had finally regained the honor she deserved!
Lowering her hood, she disappeared from the Ambrose Street racetrack in no time. She was gone by the time her rival from the blue car hurried over.
Shaun searched high and low for Millie, but only her car was left. He looked up at the big screen, where a photo of Millie’s car was projected onto it.
Millie had won the race.
The next morning, Millie woke up early and did some yoga stretches. Tying her hair into a ponytail, she put on a linen outfit and had breakfast while watching the news. She looked energized and revitalized.
“Hey, you’re in a great condition today,” Terence said. He was surprised to see Millie in high spirits when he arrived on the first floor.
She raised an eyebrow. “Good morning, Dad.”
Julia, who was right behind Terrence, seemed taken aback at Millie’s energy.

Worried; Terrence asked, “Did something trigger you?”
Munching on a sandwich, Millie shot him a loaded look. The truth couldn’t be further from that. She’d settle multiple issues in her life the previous day, and she felt unburdened today.
What could have triggered her?
“I saw from the news yesterday that the deputy director of your department jumped off a building. Did that affect you in any way?” Julia asked while peeling an egg.
Millie shook her head. “Nah. I’m perfectly fine. Dad, Mom, don’t worry about me. Your dear daughter will live her life to the fullest starting from today!” she swore with a serious expression.
Julia nearly choked on the egg. Was Millie being serious?
Terrence pursed his lips and grunted dismissively, knowing that Millie would soon forget about her pledge. Looking annoyed, Millie grumbled, “Dad, Mom, what’s with those looks on your faces?”
“We trust you. Alright now. Let’s not waste the precious morning. Get up and get moving.” Julia downed a glass of milk, rinsed her mouth, and left home for work.
Millie speechlessly turned to Terrence. He chuckled and said, “I’m waiting for you to take over our famil wealth when you thought it through. I really want to travel the world.”
Well, she had thought it through. Why did her family refuse to take her word for it?
She snorted and prepared to go to work. On her way there, she received a call from Simon.
“There’s a pretty good movie in theaters lately. Do you want to watch it together tonight?”
