Chapter 331
Millie was initially calm, but after hearing what Michael said, she became nervous and squirmed. “Woah, woah! Watch out. Don’t go making yourself fallit Michael reminded her.
Millie was on the verge of breaking down. She wanted to say something, and Michael noticed immediately.
“Do you want to look for Winston?” he asked.
Millie hurriedly shook her head. Michael was taken aback and said, “You don’t want to tell him you’ve been kidnapped.”
Millie nodded, which only surprised Michael even more.
“Why not?” he asked.
Millie wanted to tell Michael that it was complicated. Yet, he continued, “Isn’t this the perfect
opportunity? If he risks his life to save you, you might get back together. Wouldn’t that be great?”
Millie was at a loss for words. Though it was a clever suggestion, she had no intention of getting back together with Winston.
“Why aren’t you interested in rekindling your romance? Michael noticed her indifference..
Millie closed her eyes and was relieved that he understood.
“Alright, then.”
With that, Michael stopped prying into her business. Then, he suddenly propped his face in his hand and gazed at the moon.
Millie could hardly believe her situation. The moon was beautiful that night, yet she was being held hostage.
What made it even more bizarre was the kidnapper sitting beside her was admiring the moon too. It was utterly surreal.
At Greer Group, Winston had just finished a virtual meeting. He flipped through the documents in his hand, visibly tired, and handed them to Eli. “It’s finalized. We need to fly to Strasson tomorrow.”
Eli nodded and replied, “Yes, Mr. Greer.”
Winston patted his pocket, looking for his phone, but he couldn’t replace it. “Eli, where’s my phone?” he asked.
Eli answered, “It might be in your office. You didn’t have it with you this afternoon.”
Winston paused briefly before humming in response. He then walked with Ell toward the office.
“How’s Joanna?” Winston asked along the way.
Mr. Greer, our people have been keeping an eye on Ms. Lowell. She hasn’t left her house in the past few days.”
Winston frowned at the news. Joanna hadn’t gone anywhere and hadn’t called him either. Her silence was
rather unusual.
“Got it,” Winston responded flatly.

As soon as he opened the office door, he saw that his phone was indeed charging. He walked over and had just sat on the couch to check his phone. Suddenly, he sprang to his feet.
His screen showed six or seven missed calls from an unknown number, along with a flurry of text
messages.
“Mr. Greer, Millie has been kidnapped.”
“Mr. Greer, please call me back if you see this message.
“Mr. Greer, I’m Vanessa Xander, Millie’s colleague.”
At that moment, Eli approached with a glass of water for Winston. “Mr. Greer, what’s wrong?”
Winston gulped nervously. He frowned, dialed Vanessa’s number, and strode out.
“Mr. Greer?” Eli trailed behind him with concern. “Has something happened to Ms. Lowell?”
Winston pressed the elevator button with urgency and said, “Millie’s in trouble.”
“Ms. Caldwell?” Eli was taken aback.
The call connected as Winston entered the elevator. “Hello, this is Winston Greer.”
Vanessa’s voice was much calmer as she explained, “Oh, hello, Mr. Greer. Everything’s fine now. I’ve already called the police, and Millie’s parents have gone to the station.”
Winston fell silent, noting the exasperation in Vanessa’s voice. After all, he had vanished when Millie needed him the most and didn’t show up until it was past 10:00 pm.
If Millie had truly been in danger, the kidnappers would probably have dismembered her by now.
“What happened?” Winston asked in a low voice.
“Millie was in a car accident and was abducted right outside the entrance.” Vanessa’s response was brief.
Winston frowned, and a hint of disbelief flickered in his eyes. Abducted? How could anyone have the nerve to take Millie away in public?
“Which police station is handling the case?” Winston pressed further.
Vanessa replied, “The headquarters.”
