Chapter 389

When Terrence returned, he saw Millie swinging her racket on the court. A sense of relief washed over

him at that sight.

This was the Millie he remembered. She should be brimming with energy and not weighed down by

life’s chaos.

Millie was matching Kennedy’s play, though she wondered if he was letting her win.

“It’s not often I see a woman play tennis this well,” Kennedy praised, genuinely impressed.

Millie sipped her water and cast a quick look at him. “Thank you.”

“We should play again sometime,” Kennedy suggested while twirling his racket. His tone was calm and respectful.

Millie nodded. “Sure.”

“Dad,” she called out to Terrence.

He had been on the phone since they entered the tennis club, and Millie had no idea what was

keeping him so occupied. It seemed like Terrence had chosen this place specially for her.

As Millie wiped the sweat from her face, she suddenly heard someone outside exclaim, “Mr. Greer is

here too?”

“And he’s brought his fiancée? Is it true?”

Upon hearing the commotion, the staff dashed out to witness the spectacle.

Millie didn’t catch what they were saying. However, when she looked up, she saw Winston and a few

friends walking in.

Regardless of the time, place, or his attire, Winston always commanded attention. That day, he wore a black T–shirt and loose sweatpants. He hadn’t dressed this casually since his university days, and he looked great.

Millie was accustomed to Winston’s suits and shirts, so seeing him in such a casual outfit brought back memories of their younger days.

At that moment, Winston noticed Millie too. But soon, his gaze shifted to Kennedy beside her, whose presence elicited a frown from Winston.

Millie quickly noticed the two men locking eyes. She couldn’t help but wonder if they knew each other.

In the next instant, Kennedy rose and approached Winston. With the crowd watching, he smiled coldly. “Long time no see, Winston.”

Winston narrowed his eyes as he looked at Kennedy’s extended hand. Then, he couldn’t resist clicking his tongue.

“Indeed, long time no see, Kennedy.”

Millie frowned, puzzled by their relationship.

Winston’s gaze shifted from Kennedy to Millie. Was Kennedy trying to get closer to her?

Kennedy glanced back and remarked with a smile, Ms. Caldwell’s tennis skills are impressive. Mr. Greer, how about a friendly match?”

They were even playing tennis together now? Winston pursed his lips. For some reason, he felt irritated.

He managed to force a smile and replied, “Sure.”

“Shall we make it a 2 vs. 2 game?” Kennedy asked.

“Fine with me,” Winston responded calmly.

Then, Kennedy asked Millie, “Ms. Caldwell, are you up for a 2 on 2 match?”

Millie spread her hands, indicating she didn’t mind.

“Mr. Greer, please choose another player,” Kennedy said, his eyes revealing a chilling intensity

Winston glanced at Millie before scanning his friends and randomly selected one.

By the time Terrence finished his call and returned, the four players on the court were already deep into their game. “What’s Winston doing here?” he muttered in confusion.

“Hey, Mills, be careful!” Terrence quickly became engrossed in the match happening before him.

Millie faced off against Winston. She returned every ball he hit with force.

Winston, on the other hand, didn’t want to target her. After a few exchanges, he deliberately aimed at Kennedy.

But Kennedy had already caught on to the tactic and deliberately positioned himself around Millie. If Winston wanted to target him, he had to deal with Millie first.

Winston, too, realized it was a calculated move. Kennedy was doing it on purpose.

After several rounds, Winston couldn’t bring himself to be aggressive, so the game remained in a deadlock. In the end, he dropped his racket and calmly said, “I lost.”
