And now, the mere sight of Joanna made Sean feel sick. The audacity she had to take credit for Millie’s heroic act! Did she really think she could get away with it forever?

Sean couldn’t help but think Millie was a fool. Why hadn’t she told Winston that she was the one who

saved him?

“Mills, would you mind stepping out for a bit? I need to discuss something with Mr. Stringer,” Joanna said with a gentle smile.

Millie shrugged. She wasn’t keen on staying where Joanna was anyway.

“In that case, I’ll-”

Millie was just about to leave when Sean’s icy voice cut in. “If you have something to say, just spit it out. Why should my friend leave?

“Millie, this is my ward. Stay as long as you want. Unless, of course, she’s planning to say something she doesn’t want anyone else to know about.”

Sean’s words were sharp and direct.

Joanna was somewhat bewildered. Where did all this fury come from?

Millie, on the other hand, was even more astonished. She could hardly believe it. After all these years, it was the first time she had ever felt this confident in front of someone.

“It’s fine. I’ll head out for now and come back to see you later,” Millie remarked with a smile. She then gently patted Sean’s arm before leaving.

Joanna noticed the gesture, and her expression darkened instantly. When did Millie and Sean get this

close?

“She’s gone now, so what is it you want to say?” Sean questioned, clearly displeased.

He had serious matters to discuss with Millie, but Joanna had barged in and sent her away. Who did Joanna think she was?

As soon as Millie left, Joanna’s expression changed drastically. She glared at Sean and demanded, “What were you going to tell Millie just now?”

“How is that any of your business?” Sean retorted.

He had never liked Joanna, not even as a kid. She always acted so delicate and threw tantrums whenever they met.

When Sean left the country, Joanna and Winston hadn’t even met. Yet somehow, she managed to get close to him.

“Are you planning to tell Millie that I took her place and claimed to save Winston?” Joanna lifted her chin arrogantly.

Sean narrowed his eyes. “So, you’re aware you’re the imposter, huh?”

“And what about it?” Joanna shot back, her tone even more haughty.

Sean chuckled, his tone dripping with sarcasm as he replied, “Joanna, you’re shameless. You took credit for Millie’s action and deceived Win, yet you still have the nerve to act all high and mighty?”

Joanna bit her lip and clenched her right hand into a fist. “Sean Stringer, if you know what’s good for you, you’ll keep this under wraps!”

“Are you asking me to help you lie to Win?” Sean asked curiously.

Before Joanna could respond, Sean continued, “Joanna, no secret stays hidden forever. Sooner or later, your dirty deeds will come to light!”

Joanna sneered, “That’s a problem for later.”

Once she married Winston and sealed their fates, what could he possibly do to her?

Sean pressed his lips together and said calmly, “I won’t help you cover this up.”

Joanna immediately balled her fists. “Sean, I-”

“Don’t even think about threatening me,” Sean interrupted sharply, not giving her a chance to speak.” Joanna, I’m Sean Stringer, heir to the Stringer family. Do you really think you can intimidate me? You’ve definitely crossed the line.”

“So what if you’re Sean Stringer? Since I’ve managed to stay by Winston’s side all this time, I’m sure I can make him love me forever!” Joanna stomped her foot in frustration.

Sean was clearly unaffected by her threats. Even though the Lowells were one of the Four Great Families, they were nothing compared to the Stringers.

“Wake up, Joanna. Winston has never loved you.”
