Chapter 477
Chapter 477
The hospital was unusually quiet that night.
After scrolling through her phone for a while, Millie grew restless. To calm herself, she performed acupuncture on herself, using the technique to regain her energy.
At 10:00 pm, Millie wandered through the corridor alone. Right then, she overheard the nurses gossiping
at the nurses‘ station.
“Who do you think is better looking, Mr. Greer or Mr. Stringer?” one of them asked.
Another exclaimed, “Mr. Greer, of course! He’s definitely the most attractive one!”
“But it seems like he’s not great at handling relationships. He’s always caught between Ms. Caldwell and Ms. Lowell,”
“Well, you know how men are. He’s on top of his career, so he’s clueless when it comes to love. If he had it all figured out, that wouldn’t be fair, would it?”
“Come on, don’t make excuses for men. A scumbag is a scumbag, no matter what!”
Millie raised an eyebrow and chuckled at the last comment. She was glad to see that women were more
clear–headed now.
Indeed, a jerk would always be a jerk. No matter how accomplished Winston was, it didn’t excuse his disrespect toward women or the way he let his wife down.
Suddenly, the door to the ward swung open. When Millie lifted her head, she saw Eli stepping out, speaking into his phone.
“I can’t give you an answer yet. Mr. Greer hasn’t woken up.
“Make sure to keep a close eye on Kennedy Sullivan. We can’t let him pull anything while Mr. Greer is still in the hospital.
“Alright, the company is in your hands now. Thank you.”
With that, Eli hung up and turned around, only to come face–to–face with Millie. His grip on his phone tightened slightly.
Millie gave him a gentle smile. She thought about greeting him, but in the end, she decided to keep quiet.
Eli frowned. He had recently learned that it was Millie who had saved Winston’s life, yet she had never mentioned it over the years. He couldn’t help but see her in a new light.
People always said that Joanna was the apple of her family’s eyes, doted on by everyone around her. So, it was only fitting that Winston should adore her too.
But what about Millie? Wasn’t she also the beloved daughter of the Caldwell family?
Eli vividly remembered when he and Winston were first starting out; Millie was every bit as pampered as Joanna. However, unlike Joanna, she possessed a certain refinement and good character.
At the very least, to Millie, someone like Eli was a friend. He was never just a lackey.

“Ms. Caldwell,” Eli took the initiative to greet her.
Millie nodded in acknowledgment. “Eli.”
“Mr. Greer hasn’t woken up yet, so-” Eli began.
But Millie simply smiled, showing no interest in continuing the conversation. Whatever happened to Winston was no longer her concern.
As she struggled in the sea the night before, she vowed to distance herself from Winston if she survived. Every mistake in her life had begun the moment she fell in love with him. 1
Millie swore she would never be that foolish again. Not ever.
“I’m going to get some rest,” Millie said as she turned to leave.
Eli called out urgently, “Ms. Caldwell, I need to talk to you.”
Yet, Millie kept moving. She had nothing to discuss with Eli, knowing he would only bring up Winston. Having let go of her expectations for Winston, she had naturally lost all interest in him.
“Ms. Caldwell, I know it was you who saved Mr. Greer all those years ago!”
The moment Eli’s words sank in, Millie stopped in her tracks. She looked up and slowly clenched her fists. Then, she turned to Eli with a look of shock. He knew?
Seeing the astonishment in Millie’s eyes, Eli was struck by a wave of emotions he couldn’t put into words.
Winston’s true savior was met with shock and disbelief when the truth came to light. In contrast, the imposter merely sought to curry favor and win sympathy.
She even used the incident to manipulate Winston.
