Chapter 498

Millie’s voice was shaky and loud. Just as Samuel was about to answer her, someone tapped Millie on the shoulder.

“Come with me, Mills,” Thomas said.

Millis was taken aback. “Uncle Thomas…”

Thomas cast a lingering gaze on Millie and smiled. “Hmm. You still have a conscience. I thought you were truly going to leave.”

“Grandma had an accident.” Millie was sad.

Thomas’s expression turned serious as he escorted Millie down a secluded hallway, leading to a private emergency room.

At the end of the hallway, Millie caught a glimpse of her family. Arthur was sitting silently on the couch, while Terrence stood by the door with Julia in his arms

As soon as Millie and Thomas arrived, everyone glanced up. When they noticed Millie, they were surprised, yet not completely surprised.

“Mom! Why didn’t you inform me?” Millie was upset.

If she had turned off her phone, she would have missed the news and only found out about it after landing. In the end, she would still fly back.

“I thought her condition wasn’t severe,” Julia explained

Millie glanced at the emergency room and wondered what it meant and if Layla was seriously hurt.

“When she was taken to the hospital, her arm was injured just like Sam’s. The doctor just came out to inform me that her arm…”

Millie was utterly shocked and deeply concerned about Layla’s arm. Layla had dedicated her entire life to practicing medicine, and her arm was more vital to her than anything else. She wondered what Julia meant by this.

“Let’s wait for the final result, Terrence interrupted Julia with a sigh.

Millie was stunned by the news, holding onto hope as long as the doctor hadn’t delivered the worst.

“…” Millie hesitated for a moment before turning to leave.

“Where are you going, Mills? Can’t you wait for your grandma?” Julia shouted.

“Mom, I’ll make sure everything is okay with Grandma’s arm,” Millie said, looking serious but with a slightly choked tone.

Julia didn’t stop her, understanding that Millie couldn’t accept this fact.

Millie wanted to enter the emergency room using a different identity. She couldn’t just sit and do nothing.

Sebastian was performing surgery on Layla in the emergency room. Orthopedics was his specialty. However, he was stressed at the moment.

Chapter 498

Layla was in her 70s, and her bones were not as sturdy as those of younger people. The fractures, broken bones, and severed nerves from the car accident, combined with years of accumulated illnesses, left Layla’s right arm severely damaged.

The moment Sebastian saw Millie, it was as if he had found a savior. Just as he was about to call Millie’s name, she shook her head and said, “Dr. Lloyd, I’m here to assist you.”

Sebastian frowned as he reluctantly shared the worst outcome with Millie. “There’s a chance that Professor Cadmore’s arm can’t be recovered.”

Millie shook her head. “Dr. Lloyd, this will be a huge blow to her.”

“I’ll try my best,” he said:

Millie carefully considered her options and decided to take action. “Dr. Lloyd, I propose to combine traditional medicine with your surgical treatment, followed by acupuncture. What do you think?”

“Okay. Stop the bleeding now.” The fact that the aorta was still bleeding was extremely concerning. Layla was on the operating table wearing a breathing mask. She used to be elegant, but she was now covered in blood.

Millie bit her lip nervously. She couldn’t imagine what Layla must have been thinking at that moment.

Being a doctor herself, Layla should have known the severity of her arm injury. But did she truly realize how serious it was?
