Gloria’s final statement was undeniably directed at Joanna. Winston would definitely hold her accountable, and the Greer family would not allow her to escape either.
It was overwhelming that she had actually taken credit for saving Winston from Millie. In this world, no secret could be hidden, especially such a disgraceful act.
Amidst the silence, Winston said, “Millie’s gone.”
As Winston watched her determined departure, he was completely heartbroken.
“Gone? What do you mean?” Gloria was confused.
Winston replied, “I tried to convince her to stay, but she still chose to go abroad in the end.” Gloria chuckled, finally comprehending his words. He was saying that Millie had gone overseas. Then, Gloria said, “Madam Layla was in an accident. So, Millie chose to stay rather than leave.” Winston was stunned and wondered about what had happened while he was unconscious. “What happened to Madam Layla? How is she now?”
Gloria replied seriously, “There was a car accident on Lowfield Road due to heavy rain. Madam Layla was involved in the pile–up.”
Winston was shocked. “Was it serious?”
“No news has been made public yet, but there are internal reports indicating that the situation might not be very promising.” Gloria looked troubled.
She had bumped into Terrence and wanted to ask him about it. However, he had avoided her and ran away.
Gloria felt helpless, knowing she had disappointed the Caldwells. Hence, she couldn’t bring herself to ask any more questions.
“What about Millie?” Winston was worried.
Millie and Layla were close. Layla was especially fond of Millie. He wondered how Millie would cope if something were to happen to Layla and if she could handle the pressure.
The phone on the bedside table rang once more, pulling Gloria from her thoughts. She grumbled with frustration, “Joanna was relentless in calling and texting you while you were unconscious. She even reached out to me.
“I made it clear over the phone that she shouldn’t contact you again. Despite that, she showed up at the hospital twice, and both times I turned her away.
“As your mother, it’s my responsibility to guide you. I’m warning you again. You must sever all connections with Joanna. This needs
O be dealt with decisively.”
Winston was so intimidated by Gloria’s strictness that he dared not disobey her. Even without her orders, he would’ve ended his relationship with Joanna.
He hated deception the most, yet Joanna continuously manipulated him. He couldn’t help but hate her.

Winston checked his phone and scrolled through his messages. The majority of them were from Joanna.
“Win, I understand I made a mistake. I’m sorry. I love you.”
“Please forgive me, Win. Even if we can’t be together in the future, I still want to be your friend. Please give me another chance.”
“I was also struggling with my own issues at that time. didn’t intend to lie. I just wanted you to notice me. I…”
Despite her messages to explain herself, it was undeniable that she was at fault for lying to him and betraying her once closest friend, Millie. Ultimately, Winston decided to delete all the messages Joanna
sent.
“Mrs. Greer, is Win awake?” Jake asked as he came into the ward.
Winston glanced up to see Jake entering with a lot of bags. He was dressed in a black suit, looking very down to earth.
Jake nudged Winston’s arm. “Hey Winston! You’re finally up. You’ve been sleeping for so long.”
