Love and Chaos Series -
His Forbidden Mate Chapter 36
I felt the bed dip underneath me and a weight dropped on my lower body while I stayed asleep. Moments passed, and I felt a faint trail that caused goosebumps to scatter all over my body. I squirmed and turned my head to the side, wanting to continue with sleep. My legs moved apart, and I felt something plugged into me from behind. It moved slowly but into deep parts of me. This wasn't the first time I had been taken in my dreams, but this was the one that felt real.
I moaned and my lashes pulled apart and I found Edward behind me like he was when we went to bed last night. His arms, however, were no longer around me, but his hand stayed on my hips.
My eyes were narrow, partly because I was still sleepy and partly because I was confused. I felt the pressure I had experienced in the dream and realised it wasn't a dream, but real.
I inhaled sharply when he thrust into me.
"Morning." he moaned, lathering kisses all over my neck.
"Edward?"
"Mistress, I woke up wanting you. I knew I had to have you." he panted, pushing further into me and hitting a spot buried deep inside. My legs curled and my eyes rolled in pleasure. "I hope you don't mind?"
He thrust harder into me and my eyes shut while I wrap my hands around his arm tucked under my head.
This felt so good, and I didn't want it to stop. "No, no, I... I do...don't mind...d, I don't." I stuttered, unable to form complete sentences.
I moaned and angled my head to have a glance at him. Much desire covered his face, and his commitment to satisfaction made him look sinfully gorgeous.
I smiled, "What?" his brows furrowed
"Nothing, you just look gorgeous when you're focused," I answered, pushing back to meet him halfway.
He rolled his eyes but smiles. The smile stayed as he picked up the pace. He had us falling over the edge in no time, leaving us utterly spent.
It was a good way to start up the day.
We since left the bed to have our bath and prepare for the day ahead. The banquet was tomorrow, but we had to prepare ourselves since we both stayed at the Palace now. I wore the red silk gown the dressmaker made for me and I saw the much adoration Edward had in his eyes when he saw me.
I also stared at the mirror and saw the beauty of the gown, despite its modesty. Then I sat to fix my hair and wear my perfume.
"Will I also meet your father?" I asked as I applied the perfume to my neck.
He ruffled his hair and turned to meet my gaze, "Yes, in time, you will, but my father isn't the nicest of men and I do not want to shove too much your way." his voice said something but his eyes said another. I'd gotten used to being around him to know when he was avoiding something. This was one of those times. He was trying to end the conversation just as fast as it started.
"So I'm guessing you haven't told him about me then?"
I shouldn't feel any way about it, but knowing that he hadn't felt a little strange to me.
"No, I haven't, but I will, in time." he placed his lips on mine but didn't deepen the kiss before pulling away. "Let's go downstairs for breakfast. I'm certain the king and queen are already waiting for us."
We joined the king and queen for breakfast at the table. I received yet again a warm welcome from the couple, making me feel at home even though they didn't have to.
Queen Mia offered to show me around the Palace much later and when I asked if that wasn't such a bother to her, she rolled her eyes and said it wasn't.
They were barely done with breakfast when they received word from the alpha of the alphas requesting Edward's presence at his estate. The king didn't look too happy with the interruption, but he remained calm with his expression.
Edward had been gone a few hours and there was no sign of him coming back soon, but the queen had kept me preoccupied, showing me around like she promised.
"Edward told me you have an interest in reading." queen Mia said, with an impressed tone as she led me through the hallway of the palace.
"Yes, I read as often as I can."
"That's good." she pushed open the door that led to a room and stepped in. I followed behind and shut the door. I look around and realised this was a room filled with shelves stocked with books. It was big enough and would be considered a library in Lurds, yet this wasn't a library. "The king set this up for me about two years ago after he realised I loved reading."
My jaw was nearly hitting the floor. I loved to read, but I didn't love it this much. "He's considerate, shows how much he loves you."
"This is mine, but the king has his study. He carries out his affairs there."
"It's beautiful."
She nodded and beckoned to me. She exited the study, and we made our way to the beautiful garden arrayed with many flowers and plants. We stayed there and talked about many things, from childhoods to royalty and the kingdom. Queen Mia didn't make me feel like she was the queen and I felt comfortable with her, as if she was the sister I had never had. She had my gratitude and utmost respect.
After a few hours of staying in the garden, duty took her away, and I returned to my room.
...
I was still much awake despite it being already late into the night. The king and queen came and said their goodnights two hours ago, and I knew they were retiring to bed, but I wasn't. If I was in Lurds, I wouldn't dream of sleeping by this time so, I sat in bed reading. It was the only thing I could do to take my mind off the fact that Edward had been away all day. This wasn't how I thought my stay at the Palace would go, but I couldn't stop it at this point.
I was about to reach the middle page when the door to my Chambers opened and Edward stepped in. He closed the door behind and staring up; he saw me still awake and his eyes dropped in remorse.
"Kailani."
"You were gone all day, my prince," I said calmly, taking his title, which I hadn't done for a while now. He told me not to and didn't like it when I did, but now I didn't care if I angered him. I was way past the point of pissed.
He moved closer to the bed. "I was with my father," he answered, his voice dimming towards the end, not showing annoyance that I used his title.
I closed the book in my hand and kept it on the stool beside the bed. "Then have you told him? About me?"
"I didn't get the chance to do that."
"You were with him all day," I emphasized all day as I folded my arms across my chest.
He sighed, "Yes, I'm sorry,"
"Do you even want me to be here? Because you weren't around when I came yesterday and you barely stayed with me today. Now, you've forgotten something I thought was important to the both of us." I didn't want the pain to show itself in my voice, but that was what I ended up doing.
Knowing he wasn't being honest with me made me sad. I felt angry but could do nothing.
"I want you here more than anyone. You're my peace and sanity, remember? And I'm sorry it slipped my mind a few times. I never got the right time to tell him. Maybe tomorrow."
I chewed my bottom lips. "Tomorrow is the banquet."
His eyes dropped. "I'm sorry."
"Stop apologising and tell me what the f**k is going on!" I snapped at him, getting off the bed. I felt remorse about raising my voice, but I hated what he was doing.
He raised both hands in surrender and stepped back. "Father, just like brother, believe a war is coming. I've been with him all day, gathering allies and those that would side with us and strengthen our bond." He stepped towards me. "I didn't know if it was the right time to inform him I'd found someone I consider a mate, Kailani. So even though it came to my mind, I kept holding it off and never got to it. I want you here, I want you with me." he answered, tilting my chin up.
All parts of me believed him. It was easier than fighting and staying mad at him.
My eyes fluttered briefly, and I nodded. He pulled me to himself and I laid my head against his chest.
"The queen kept me company all day," I mumbled out, and peeked up at him while he stroked my face.
He smiled, "I'm glad she did, and I hope you can forgive me for being absent."
"I will think about it, but to increase your chances, I'd rather you take me to bed and show me just how much you want to be forgiven."
