Love and Chaos Series -
His Forbidden Mate Chapter 50
Edward travelled to the capital a week ago to relate the plans he had made to his brother, the king. The wedding, according to plans, should hold next week and this was Edward's last visit to the capital before his union with his love. When Kailani asked if he wanted her to come along, he smiled and told her to stay back and make sure all their plans for the day were perfect. This was the only task she had and she had to do justice to it. She could do that.
It felt like a dream, but the day she would unite with Edward as one drew closer with every hour that passed.
He had proposed them moving to the capital after marriage and though she'd gone along with every single thing he'd said happily, that made her a little sad. Yes, she wanted to step aside from the parlour, but moving to the capital would mean farewell completely. Saying good bye to everything and everyone she had grown to love.
She knew moving to the capital was inevitable because the capital was called La Ville De Royal for the reason of it being the city of royals. Edward was still royal no matter his rebellion, and that made the capital his city no matter how much he loved Lurds, but she didn't want to leave this family she'd promised to stay with. She knew they would survive without her, but the thought of leaving still hurt.
She would choose Edward over anything and she could not believe she just admitted that, but it was the truth. He was her life, her peace and joy, and she wanted to be where he was and stay beside him every step of the way. This was something she knew he would do for her in a heartbeat as well.
Every day that passes now, she cherished because she know her days here were numbered. These faces she would not see for a while and they would only be in her thoughts and prayers.
A few days ago, she discussed her plans of taking a step back from the parlour in preparation for her departure to the capital with Jane. She had come to terms with leaving after long thoughts. She wanted to plan her life with Edward and be his wife, and she couldn't do both at the same time. The parlour was her hard work and dream, but she knew she wanted to do this and try other things. Like being a wife, mate and perhaps a mother too. The parlour and her family would always have a place in her heart. Jane was happy for her, wishing only the best and more than happy to carry on where she would leave off. She was more than capable for her role and she had shown that a few times.
As planned, tomorrow would be her last day at the parlour and everything was in place. All she needed to do was inform the rest in the morning and wish them well.
Jane stood at the door of her study chamber watching her in silence and though she could see her from the corner of her eyes. She waited for her to say what she wanted to say and after a while and she didn't speak; she did.
"Is there something you want to ask, Jane?" her brow raised but didn't look at her.
"I'm just curious, that's all." She gave a mild shrug.
This made her turn. "About what?"
"Do you believe there's a mate for every werewolf?" she asked, curiously.
"I once didn't believe it was possible to replace one after I clicked eighteen summers, but my view has changed. I have a mate, one that is true, one that I never thought I deserved. Why did you ask?"
She stayed silent, and Kailani's brow narrowed with interest. "What aren't you telling me, Jane?" she dragged out her name.
She rolled her eyes and approached her from the door. "I have felt no connection to anyone all my life as a werewolf, but I felt it for someone recently."
Kailani tucked her hands underneath her chin and rested her elbow on the desk to support it up. Then wiggled her brow of interest at her, telling her to continue.
She rolled her eyes and came to sit before me. "It's Glen," she replied, and Kailani tried to do a mental calculation of who the name belonged. "He's a victim at the parlour," she added clarity to her explanation. "Does he feel the same?"
She bit her lips nervously and nodded. "Yes."
Kailani had a wide grin on her face at her response, her happiness with this news knowing no limit. "He gave me his mark a few days ago and asked for my hand. And I said yes!"
Kailani rose to squeal and nodded her head happily. "Yes!"
Jane's cheeks turned rosy, showing her embarrassment, and it was so cute to see.
"Thank you, Kailani."
She paused, a little confused. "Why are you thanking me?"
"I owe my life to you. If you hadn't found me and rescued me when you did, I wouldn't be here replaceing a mate or even thinking about uniting with one. This is possible now because you believed in me even when you didn't have to."
She rushes over to her, throwing her arms around her for a long-deserved hug. She hugged back tightly, and they stayed that way.
The third days of the week were always the busiest reasons, being that it was the least productive day for the people of Lurds and so they spend longer time at the parlour. It was the first hour into midnight when the night show ended. Many workers stayed behind because of distance and also because of the speech I planned to give in the morning. There was enough room for everyone and so I too stayed back.
The morning was now a few hours away.
