The Alpha King’s Ugly Bride Chapter 21

Important Note: For every two years that passes, the royals blood age one year. So for the rest of Wahala. Robb Ainsworth has ruled for a hundred years according to the calculations but he has aged only fifty since ruling...

Robb Ainsworth, the alpha king's father, had fallen asleep with the moon goddess for the last three years after a hundred years of ruling as alpha king. This was the way of the Wahala kingdom. Every king who had successfully marked a hundred years of ruling had fallen asleep. These kings either pass on to the life beyond or to wake as alpha of alphas. A majority of the former kings had slept and passed on to the life beyond. Only a few had woken up from the sleep. The sleep lasted between one to ten years and when an alpha king awake from such a sleep, his title becomes the alpha of alphas. This would make him the father of all alphas.

The awakening of Robb Ainsworth, Xavier's father, now made him the strongest alpha and living supernatural being in the kingdom and beyond. Posted by Narugi.com always visit for more novels. It also gave him the utmost authority. His dominance and control would become twice that of the alpha king. Knowing Robb, Xavier was certain he would place him under much scrutiny than he'd done in the past.

Learning about his father's awakening made Xavier realise just how vulnerable he had become. Vulnerable was an understatement for how he felt but there was no other way to discribe it. Discovering that his wife had run off the same night made him almost lose it. Now more than ever, he needed his wife beside him, if not for anything, for show.

Robb had always nagged him to get a bride before he fell asleep. If he discovered Xavier had done, that might change his mindset about him.

He needed to bring her back. He couldn't risk losing her, especially now.

He was furious that she ran away. The little devil he called wife. Damn her.

Any other day, he would have sorted the most painful way to snuff the life out of her, but not today. He had to think of where his bride could have gone to and he wouldn't be able to do that with a thought-filled head.

He took the time to think. Mia was a smart lady, too smart, he'd say. However, she had a one-track mind, and it was towards one thing: enlightenment. This helped him narrow down where she could have gone to.

He remembered receiving information about the ship sailing off to the southern kingdom a few days back. He also discovered her admiration for Reading not so long ago. But he never placed the two together until tonight. It made him believe that if she hoped to run away to a place they wouldn't replace her, she'd have to be on the ship.

He made every the guards swear to keep their business as discreet as possible. The last things he wanted was for anyone replaceing out about his wife's escape, especially an elder. That would bring about questions he wasn't ready to answer. So he commanded a few of them to the loading dock of the ship sailing off to the southern kingdom. He likewise dispatched the rest guards to the other regions of the capital, where he also thought she would be.

Her heartbeat was the first thing he had traced as the palace's gates opened a while ago. Its beating didn't sound like one afraid. Maybe because she wasn't. And he knew this side of her would make him snap faster than lightning, and he needed help. "You don't want to be married to me and I don't want to be married to you either. I don't blame you for running away. I'd do the same thing. But that's all in the past and we need to work towards the future."

"We? There is no we. They never have and never will be."

He took a sit on her study table, flattened his hands on it and leaned his weight on them. His hooded green eyes watched her. "There will if you someday hope to fulfil your dream of sailing off to the kingdom of Reading in search of knowledge and enlightenment." Her grip tightened around the wine bottle in her hand. With the pressure on her grip, she knew she'd break it if she kept on.

Edward was the only one who knew about her quest for enlightenment in the palace. She didn't know much, but she knew he couldn't betray her. He wouldn't.

"How did you know?"

"I am the alpha king. I am also your husband, and when the priest bonded us in holy matrimony, he bonded a part of us together. You belong to me."

Her teeth clench, "So you've always had access to my thoughts?!"

"Not always. Since we never consummated our union, I can only hear it when I concentrate hard enough and most times, it wasn't worth it."

Fucking bastard! She cussed in her head.

"I heard that!" he told her, looking displeased at her foul thoughts.

"So what now? You own me like some sort of property?"

"Yes."

His reply angered Mia, and she almost threw the bottle she held at him. However, when she glanced down at her hand, the bottle was no longer in it. Her eyes darted to Xavier, and she saw his hands thrust forward and the bottle in it. She then realised she'd thrown the bottle at him in her anger and he had caught it.

"Yes, I own you, just as you own me," he answered, and threw the bottle back at her. Her hand shot forward and caught it on reflex.

She lowered the bottle to stare up at him. He spoke words that were bigger than her comprehensive skill in this moment. "What do you mean?"

He didn't hesitate to explain what he meant. "I am yours, just as you're mine.' Those were the vows we swore, and those weren't mere words. The moon goddess heard and registered and so it would be until the day we die."
