The Alpha King’s Ugly Bride Chapter 92

Xavier stepped into the inner courts where the now seven elders, Elliott and Robb, sat waiting for him. Behind him were Mia and Edward, and together they made their way up. While Edward and Mia stayed back, Xavier continued towards the stand to face the alpha Unlike the last time they were here, they had one less person in the courtroom, Chike.

of alphas.

The council of alphas in unison placed a curse on Alpha Chike as punishment for the betrayal of his duties to the throne a few days ago. The curse left the mark of betrayal, an engraved red scar on his forehead, which would tell everyone who he was and what he had done. And after that, they banished him from the kingdom of Wahala. He was told never to return or will die at the hands of the elders and his soul would end up in Inferno, every living being's nightmare. Heeding Mia's advice, the king spared Chike's family from his fate after discovering that they had no hand in it.

Alpha Chike's act of betrayal and also the king and queen's wise judgement went around the kingdom and drew sympathisers and soon 'long live the alpha king and queen' and 'a great king listens to his queen' became a regular chant on every street. Xavier knew he didn't have to show up for the last day of trial. Everyone already knew the truth, but he wanted to hear what his father had to say about all of this. He wanted to know if the old man would swallow his pride for once and accept the truth. Once the courtroom became quiet, Alpha Zayn rose to his feet and spoke, "Thank you for honouring this gathering and coming, alpha king." he bowed his head, "We know that the past week has been challenging for you and your queen, and hopefully today's decision brings about a new start. It's been three weeks since the trial began and today we will get to hear the final decision on the trial from our father." he turned to Robb Ainsworth and bowed in respect, "Thank you for also being here. We may begin." "Any word from the alpha king before the Verdict is passed?" Robb asked and anger flared in Xavier's being.

He had a lot to say. He had a lot he wanted to get off his mind, but he decided against it. Nothing he said now would change the decision the alpha of alphas had already made and trying would just be a waste of time. "No, I have nothing else to say your grace, the events that had taken place in the last week can speak for themselves."

Robb nodded, "Very well."

He unbound the scroll before his desk and stretched it out. He cleared his throat and began to speak. "First off, this council wants to offer an apology to you, alpha king, and to your wife, Queen Mia, for the series of trouble you've gone through in the last few weeks. It is hard to see through when you're not the one going through the situation. It's easy to cast blame as well. With your act these past few weeks and your decision to fight, stand and defend your queen, I am convinced you have grown to become the man I always hoped you would be. A man of excellence and that's the king you also are."

He continued. "In the last few weeks, you've been on trial. However, we made a mistake. We moved quickly to judge and dimmed you wrong for your actions. We did not see the snake in our midst and for that; I apologise. I have taken into consideration all the testimonies of the witnesses, including that of your queen and prince, and I'm left to believe you're the true king. Your king's men adore you and they came to your call. It shows your crowning as alpha king wasn't a mistake on our path. I am sorry I wasn't a very loving or understanding father to you. I am well aware of my shortcomings as your father and I promise to work towards changing that. I know you will have a better reign as King than I did and also be a better King."

With that said, he rose to his feet. "I, Robert Ainsworth, the alpha of alphas, replace you fit to continue your rule over the kingdom of Wahala. I believe the kingdom is safer in your hands than in any other. I seal this verdict with the sun and the moon, never to be changed till the end of time."

Xavier turned to Mia, who had an impeccable smile on her face and her smile must have been contagious because, in seconds, he had it too.

He stepped out of his corner of the courtroom and hurried towards Mia. She also rose to meet him halfway. He lifted her by her waist and spun her around, making her giggle uncontrollably.

He set her down and captured her lips in his for a passionate and mind-shattering kiss.

They pulled away when someone cleared their throat from beside them.

Turning around, they saw Edward, and Xavier almost rolled his eyes. "Congratulations, brother, or should I say alpha king," he said and stretched his hand out to him for a shake.

Xavier eyed his hand before turning back to him with a raised brow. Edward awkwardly withdrew his hand, and Xavier pulled him into a tight hug instead. Tears well up in Edward's eyes and he wrapped his arms around him, pressing his lips together and blinking back the tears.

They pulled away, and Xavier's eyes were also glassy. He blinked it back and cleared his throat. "Thank you."

He shook his head, "Anything for my brother and my king." then he turned to Mia, "Take care of him, alright?"

She nodded, and they shared a quick hug. "Thank you, Edward, for always believing."

He smiled, patting her shoulder firmly. "You're welcome."

He pulled away from the hug and stuffed his hand into his pocket, his attention returning to Xavier. "Now that this is out of the way. Please, sire an heir. I am tired of the title of crowned prince. It's hard enough to be the prince of Wahala. I do not want to be reminded of my role in case something happens to you." Unlike other kingdoms, the immediate younger brother of the king had always taken the title of crowned prince until the king sired an heir to the throne. This safeguarded the throne in case of unfortunate circumstances. Edward, however, seemed worn by the title already.

Xavier didn't take offence at his words. Instead, he beamed. "I will get on to that. I promise. And what will you do now?"

Edward smiled mischievously, "Live, learn and, most importantly, love." lights flickered in his blue eyes. "Who is she?"

"I am still yet to replace out. Fate has played us as though we were dice, tossed around like fleeting beings in the wind, never letting our path cross for long, but I will replace her. My soul longs for her, even after many years. She's a nightmare I can't stop having and I feel she isn't far away."
