“I don’t have a concrete plan just yet,” Levi admitted candidly, “but I have

someone I’d like to recommend to you. He’ll undoubtedly do a better job than

I could.”

“Do you? Who’s that?” Teddy’s eyes lit up slightly, already having a hunch.

Sure enough, the next moment, a handsome and charismatic young man

entered the room–it was Gautier.

“Gautier Verkade from Yeringham, at your service, Mr. Tanner,” Gautier

greeted politely, his demeanor respectful but composed.

“Well, well! Mr. Verkade, it’s good to see you!” Teddy immediately took a liking

to Gautier. Even though he knew that Levi had been in contact with Gautier

before, they had only ever seen each other through video. This was Teddy’s

first time seeing him in person.

“Impressive! Truly impressive! A fine young man indeed!” Teddy stepped

forward, scanning Gautier from head to toe before expressing his

satisfaction.

“You flatter me, Mr. Tanner,” Gautier responded with a modest smile, exuding

grace.

“Mr. Tanner, this is the man I wanted to recommend to you–Mr. Verkade.” Levi

spoke highly of Gautier. He’d not only had close interactions with the young

man but also knew how much Teddy liked him, so he praised him

accordingly.

“Gautier, are you willing to help me?” Teddy didn’t bother asking for details,

trusting that Levi had already gone over everything with Gautier.

“Of course!” Gautier didn’t mention payment or personal gain, instead replying with a smile, “Mr. Lestrange has told me many stories about you, Mr.

Tanner–how you care for the people, dedicate yourself to charity, and have

tirelessly worked to stabilize Chanaea’s economy. I admire you greatly. It

would be an honor to assist you.”

金鐘 “Haha, is that really how you feel?” Teddy laughed heartily. “But you must’ve

also heard all the talk out there–people painting me as a villain, saying I’ve

murdered in secret, eliminated my enemies, and even tried to overthrow the

government… You’ve heard those rumors, haven’t you?”

Gautier smiled. “Everyone has a mouth, and opinions are free, but history is

written by the victors. As long as you emerge victorious, Mr. Tanner, those

rumors will eventually fade away.”

“Hahaha…” Teddy roared with laughter. “Well said! Very well said!” Gautier’s response struck a chord with him. It aligned perfectly with his beliefs, and he saw in Gautier the qualities of a true leader. If only this young man were his

son!

“Levi mentioned you might be able to use Gwain Lannister to deal with

Emmanuel Lowe. Do you think you can pull it off?” Teddy asked, getting to the

point.

Gautier remained indifferent. “If you wish it, I will see it through without

hesitation.”

“Good! I like your confidence. I’m sure you won’t let me down!” Teddy clapped

his hands in excitement. As experienced as Teddy was, he knew that while

Gautier hadn’t discussed compensation and only spoke of ideals and loyalty,

all relationships, especially in business, were built on mutual benefit. As the

chairman of the Chamber of Commerce, Teddy understood this well.

“Gautier, I really admire you. If you help me maintain control and succeed in

getting my wife elected as president, I’ll seriously consider giving you my

position in the future,” Teddy said casually, without a hint of force.

“I’m not worthy of such an honor, Mr. Tanner!” Gautier quickly responded. “I

know my limitations. My only goal in dealing with Emmanuel is to avenge my

father. Your help in that is already a tremendous favor.”

“Hmm, alright.” Teddy kept a close eye on Gautier’s expression, trying to gauge his sincerity, but the young man was unreadable. It was almost as if Teddy were staring into the depths of an ocean–impossible to discern his

true feelings. In that moment, Gautier reminded him of his younger self, a

man destined for greatness.

On the other side, Emmanuel landed in Zovince and immediately confirmed

Ethan’s recent schedule. Since there were no major public events planned for

Ethan, Emmanuel simply had Sunny assign a team to protect him, freeing

himself up to handle other matters.

zones, which essentially reflected the social hierarchy. Despite being part of the same city, each zone represented a different social class.

figures in the country.

Zone 2 was an extension of Zone 1. While not directly adjacent to the

Congress, it was still a prestigious area, home to the nation’s elite families.

The core residences of the Four Great Families, excluding the Tanner family,

were located here.

As the zones progressed toward 8, 9, and 10, they became home to the ordinary citizens of Zovince. The poorer one was, the more likely people in Zovince would look down on one–poverty carried the same stigma no

matter where one lived, but here, it seemed amplified.

The branch office of Terence Group had already been set up in Zone 4. This

zone wasn’t the center of political power struggles, but it was still a

respectable area. Opening their office here meant they could avoid drawing

too much attention while maintaining an air of prestige, perfectly matching

Terence Group’s current positioning.

Emmanuel had been tasked by Mackenzie to keep a close eye on the

development of the new branch, and with some free time then, he decided

to check it out. But as he approached the office, he noticed a commotion at

the entrance.

“Sir, ma’am, without proper identification, no matter what you say, we won’t

let you inside,” a woman in uniform said sternly, flanked by two security

guards, blocking a young couple from entering.

Emmanuel squinted and realized that the couple was none other than

Roselynn and Julian. What are they doing here?

“We really are the sister and brother–in–law of your branch’s manager. We

haven’t been able to reach him, so we came directly,” Roselynn explained

patiently again.

Emmanuel suddenly remembered that after taking on the task of secretly protecting Ethan, he had used a code name to conceal his identity. Even

when he was on missions, he avoided using his usual phone number to

prevent any information leaks. The only person who had his current contact

information was Mackenzie, so it made sense that his sister hadn’t been able

to reach him.

The woman in uniform, however, just sneered. “Our manager doesn’t have a

sister. If you’re going to lie, at least do your homework. If you don’t leave, don’t

blame us for getting rough!”

Frustrated and out of options, Roselynn and Julian turned to leave, but just as

they did, they spotted Emmanuel.

“Manny! We were just looking for you!” Roselynn exclaimed, her face lighting

up with joy.

Julian, still fuming, pointed at the uniformed woman and complained to

Emmanuel, “Your sister and I told her that we’re the brother–in–law and sister

of the branch manager, but she insisted the manager doesn’t have a sister

and refused to let us in!”

Emmanuel wasn’t particularly angry at first. After all, the staff were just

anyone into the building. But what caught him off guard was the uniformed

woman’s reaction upon seeing him.

She sneered and mocked him, ‘Oh, another one of your con artists? Now

you’ve brought in another guy to pretend to be our manager? And who are

you supposed to be? This is a big company, and our manager definitely

doesn’t look like you!!
