Love at the Wrong Table by Emmanuel Lowe -
Chapter 289
Chapter 289
Zane saw the furious expression on the man’s face and did not dare to unlock
the doors. Instead, he quickly locked the car doors.
Boom!
Boom!
Boom!
Ryder’s emotions were getting out of control as he relentlessly kicked the
BMW’s doors.
“Get out of the car! Get out now, you shameless couple! I’ll make sure you
regret this!” Ryder shouted in anger.
“Zane, w–what do we do now?” Abellyn, a rather foolish woman when she had
no one steering her way, was completely at a loss and panicked.
She was afraid that Ryder might actually break the door open in his rage. This
savage man could really harm her if he did.
“Why don’t you get out of the car? I’ll be taking off now. It seems we won’t be
able to have any fun tonight!” Unfortunately, Zane had no interest in lingering
and taking any punches. After all, whatever Ryder planned to do to Abellyn
was not his concern.
Besides, he was starting to grow tired of this woman. To make matters worse,
he had even discovered that Abellyn of all people wanted to marry him.
How could that ever happen?
He had planned to continue fooling around with her a few more times and
then get rid of her once he had had his fill. Now that her husband had shown
up, it was the perfect opportunity to cut ties and never contact her again.
Yet, would Abellyn even dare to unlock the car door? Of course, she wasn’t!
She was unwilling to leave Zane and intended to force him to put her name
on the property deed tonight.
“Zane, why don’t you drive us away? Let’s get rid of this man together!” She
suggested, albeit hesitantly.
Zane was reluctant to do so.
He wasn’t stupid. He had been sneaking around, hiding their affair from
Abellyn’s husband, enjoying the thrill of the forbidden fruit.
Nonetheless, if he were to drive away with her when her husband was right in
front of them, the consequences would be severe. Not only would he have to
fear Ryder’s potential retaliation, but it would also be even harder for him to
get rid of Abellyn.
While he was still hesitating, Ryder could feel his mounting fury at the
obstacle before his eyes. Moreover, his son was watching this unfold behind
him. He was afraid that his son would see his mother running off with another
man. Thus, he picked up a stone and smashed the car window in a moment
of impulsiveness.
Crash!
Zane’s eyes widened in shock and frustration.
He knew that if he got out of the car, Ryder would definitely beat him up, and
he was no match for Ryder. But he didn’t want to endure this humiliation for
nothing. So, he decided to step on the gas pedal and hit Ryder with the car,
hoping to knock him away.
“Dad! Dad!” Tommy ran toward Ryder, crying, only to replace his father covered in
blood.
Abellyn was also stunned by the turn of events.
After a while, she finally reacted. She didn’t scold Zane. Oh, no. Rather, she
hastily instructed him to flee the scene immediately.
Meanwhile, Zane was already regretting his actions!
If he drove away by hitting someone like this, it would be a hit–and–run. If he
was caught, he’ll be sentenced to jail faster than he could plead not guilty.
“What do you mean ‘leave‘? Get out of the car and check if he’s dead. When
the police start asking questions, remember to say that he attacked us, and
we acted in self–defense! Do you understand?” Zane threatened loudly.
She nodded absentmindedly and hurriedly got out of the car.
“Mom, please save Dad! Call an ambulance quickly!” Tommy rushed to her,
embracing her as he begged her to help his dying father.
Alas, Abellyn paid him no mind at all. She only had eyes on checking Ryder’s
condition. Soon, she discovered that his old wound on the waist had
reopened, and blood was flowing out steadily.
She was completely overwhelmed by panic as white noise filled her ears.
