Love at the Wrong Table Emmanuel Lowe Chapter 414

Chapter 414

“To take out the enemy of the country! The enemy who abetted Kan Bender

in betraying Chanaea! The enemy who put our country through so much

unimaginable suffering!” Santiago replied briefly, showing his trust in his

mentee, Emmanuel. Deep down, he trusted his own judgment about

Emmanuel, believing he could perform as well as he used to before despite

not being as fit as his former self.

Emmanuel was surprised, not expecting Santiago to assign him with such a

mission. “Master, I…”

“What’s wrong? Have you lost your guts or something?” Santiago interrupted

Emmanuel when the latter didn’t give him an affirmative answer. “It’s been

three years! The punishment that the country imposed on you back then is

no longer effective, so what are you waiting for? Don’t you want to avenge

your dead comrades? Don’t you want to do something about the humiliation

the Wolf Warrior Unit suffered, as well as the Northern Region’s defeat?”

Bang! Agitated, Santiago slammed the wooden table with his palm and

broke it into two. At the same time, the old man’s hair billowed in the air as his

sleeves fluttered in an intimidating manner. As the Northern Region’s

experienced commander, Santiago’s charismatic persona and persuasive

words seemingly awoke the passion within Emmanuel, who had left his

career for the past three years. “Avenge our brother! Kill our enemies!”

Emmanuel also echoed his mentor’s words.

As the atmosphere intensified with their emotions, Santiago went on to

bellow in anger, saying, “Those people would do anything for their personal

gains at the cost of the country’s interest. After so many years, that man is

still at large, and because he has a huge network of connections, he takes

advantage of the rich and powerful to cover for his tracks. Can you tolerate

this?”

“Who exactly is he?” Emmanuel asked with a glacial look on his face,

wondering what kind of relationship that mysterious person had with the

Zelinsky family.

Instead of answering Emmanuel’s question directly, Santiago placed a

brocade bag in front of Emmanuel. When Emmanuel opened it, he saw a

picture of an individual and, some documents related to the person’s identity.

At the sight of that, he felt goosebumps running all over his body, his eyes

filled with disbelief. “Well, I can’t force you to rejoin the squad if you insist, but

since you’ve accepted this mission, this is your payment. The contract will be

effective for two years, so don’t let me down.” Santiago then placed a golden

card right in front of Emmanuel.

“But…” Emmanuel was filled with mixed feelings, knowing the card was no

ordinary item when he glanced at it. I bet I’m going to have a lot of money to

spend with this card, but I’m someone who made a terrible mistake in the

past, so do I really deserve this?

Nonetheless, Santiago waved his hand, his agitated reaction slowly turning

into a benevolent and calm look. “These awards were given to you back then.

Thus, they belong to you. Now that you’ve killed Kan and returned to the

Northern Region once more, I’m just returning the things you left behind three

years ago to their rightful owner.”

Emmanuel felt touched, thinking Santiago was just like a loving father to him.

“By the way, if you’re going back, don’t go back directly to Yeringham!”

Santiago reminded Emmanuel after discussing important business with him.

Emmanuel nodded as a gesture that meant he understood Santiago,

showing he didn’t need his mentor to elaborate. After all, he knew how

important it was to keep his whereabouts mysterious. Furthermore, his plan

was to kill the main enemy behind the treason conducted against Chanaea,

which was all the more reason for him to lay low, or his enemy would know

he was onto them. Thus, he did everything he could to keep his whereabouts

a secret and was even thinking about taking a few days off in another city to

create some confusion.

Half a month later, Mackenzie was hosting a board meeting in the

conference room at Terence Group. “Mr. Schwartz, your on-time delivery date

has gone down by 30 percent this quarter. If this continues, you can prepare

your resignation letter this month.”

“Mr. Lanaway, it appears that your marketing strategy is working. Our next

target is to expand our reach to the Southwest region and increase our

coverage by 30 percent!”
