Love Began with the First Meeting
Chapter 1252 Extra Story 7 Of Edgar From Affection To Disgust

The Eagle Special Brigade was the best equipped regiment in the whole military region, so she didn't believe that the computer could have broken down on its own, or that there was a problem with the power supply. The only possible explanation for this accident must then be closely related to Edgar, who had just walked in. Edgar slightly arched his brows and cast a negligent glance at the computer. Then he seemed to realize something and asked, "Are you questioning your leader? More precisely... Are you questioning your leader's integrity?"

'I don't think a man who forced himself on a woman at KTV is a gentleman, 'Maggie retorted mentally.

But aloud she answered in a stern tone, "Sir! I was just wondering if you had switched off the power supply. As for your integrity..." She paused for a moment and glanced at Edgar pointedly. "Sir, I have never doubted it!" she answered softly.

Edgar sneered, having noticed Maggie's disgust for him by her contemptuous expression, which meant that she was just mumbling platitudes to hide her true feelings. But he was still happy to see that Maggie was not reckless or arrogant enough to directly confront him anymore. He walked forward, casting a glimpse at the computer and looked into Maggie's eyes. "I switched off the power supply," he said indifferently. Looking at the anger which registered on Maggie's face, he added, "As a member of the Eagle Special Brigade, you must remain alert and be keen enough to achieve success no matter what the place or conditions are."

Maggie clenched her teeth in anger and twisted her hand into a fist without a conscious thought. She stared at Edgar and answered, "Yes, Sir! I will always remember the lesson you have just taught me."

Edgar nodded. Looking away from Maggie, he turned and was just about to leave when he abruptly stopped on his tracks, as if he had remembered something important. Instead of turning around to face Maggie, Edgar spoke over his shoulder in a tone heavy with intent. "Oh, one more thing, I almost forgot that I'm going to the X Amry tomorrow, so you must submit your self-criticism review before 10:30 this evening." He paused momentarily and added, "By the way, I don't like the smell of the printer's ink, so please write it by hand." Keeping his back turned to her, he didn't give Maggie any chance to retort. He only heard her say, "Yes, sir." Then he walked out the door without another word.

As he walked away, Edgar's mouth twisted into a smirk. Gordon, who was waiting for him outside, followed him immediately after casting a quick glimpse at the computer room.

"Captain..." Gordon called to him out of curiosity. Gordon didn't understand why the Captain would resort to such a ridiculously childish behavior even though he was generally a man of principle. "Sir, it seems as though you have some kind of grudge towards Maggie?" Gordon asked timidly.

Edgar looked at him and responded with a question. "How do you know that? Did you see it with your own eyes?"

'Yes, I don't need eyes to see it', Gordon thought flippantly. Of course he didn't dare to say it out loud. Instead, he smiled demurely and said, "I just think you are being a bit too harsh on Maggie."

Edgar stopped walking and said with a serious expression, "She is too young to enjoy such a high rank. She needs to be kept on her toes to avoid making mistakes."

Gordon was still confused. In his opinion, Maggie, as an undergraduate of the National Defense University, had already gained several achievements at the university. Therefore, it was quite acceptable for her to enjoy a high rank even though she was still very young. So why would Edgar insist that Maggie still needed to be kept on her toes? Mulling over this question for a long time, Gordon finally decided to stop thinking about it. He chose to believe the Captain's reasoning. As the Captain's secretary, he strongly believed that the Captain's decisions were reasonable.

Gordon still didn't understand why Maggie was the only one who needed to be treated so strictly. However, he would come to comprehend the captain's purpose a few days later.

Maggie walked back to the dormitory filled with anger. With Edith looking on, she put a piece of paper on the desk and wrote the title "Self-Criticism Review" on it.

Edith asked with curiosity, "Maggie, didn't you just come from the computer room? Why are you still writing it by hand?"

In this day and age, every task could be finished on a computer. Edith was very surprised to see Maggie writing the self-criticism review by hand.

"It's all because of the Captain. That fr...." Maggie paused before calling Edgar a 'freak' because she suddenly recalled that Edith was a big fan of his. If she spoke ill of him, her friendship with Edith might have come to an early end. She simply said, "Oh, the Captain just wants me to review my mistakes in a more effective way so that I can understand the importance of time as a soldier."

Edith was stunned by Maggie's words. She exclaimed, her eyes glistening with admiration for Edgar, "Wow, the Captain is just like everyone had said he would be. They said the Captain treats his soldiers like a father whose heart is full of love for his children."

Edith's words disgusted Maggie. Her mouth curved into a sneer and she cast a contemptuous glance at Edith. Fortunately, Edith was lost in her own thoughts to notice Maggie's annoyance. Finally, Edith decided to channel her focus to her self-criticism review. It would be hours before she could get it done in time to submit. Today was her only free day and tomorrow she would have to engage in more training. She was worried whether that freak would cause more trouble for her again.

Unfortunately, Maggie's concerns were made real. By the time she had finally finished the self-criticism review, there were only some leftovers left for supper in the dining hall. She quickly ate some food, then went to Edgar's office to hand in the review. However, Edgar tore it up after quickly scanning it and asked her to write it again.

'Fine! I'd better grin and bear it!' Maggie said to herself.

Before long, she returned to her room and rewrote it. But it was torn up once again.

"Sir!"

Maggie couldn't restrain her emotions any more. Although Edgar didn't reply to her, she glared at him and asked, "Are you punishing me because of yesterday's...?"

"Did I give you permission to speak?" Edgar interrupted her in an impatient tone. She bit her tongue at this cold rebuke, while Edgar said coldly, "Run 10 kilometers, now!"

It was already past 9 p.m. If Maggie were to start writing the review after running the 10 kilometers, it would be impossible for her to finish the review and submit it before 10:30. However, as a member of the army, she couldn't willfully disobey a direct order from her Captain.

"Yes, Sir!" she replied grinding her teeth in rage. As she finished running the distance, Maggie struggled to catch her breath. After glancing towards Edgar's office, where a light still glowed, she went back and rewrote her review.

Today was the first day for her and the other three to join this department, so their comrades were hosting a small party to celebrate and welcome them. They had also invited the other members of the Falcon Commando who had just finished today's training. But Maggie wouldn't be able to join them due to Edgar's unreasonable orders. Instead, she was going to spend the whole evening writing the self-criticism review.
