Love Began with the First Meeting -
Chapter 1276 Extra Story 31 Of Edgar The Rival in Love
"Go home and stay with your mom today," William urged. "She heard that you were back, and keeps asking me when you are coming home. So, relax for now."
"Yes, sir!" Maggie responded with a salute. She turned around and walked out of William's office.
A small smile appeared on William's face and he murmured to himself, "It's going to be noisy at home today."

"Sir, what do you think?" the captain asked the bald lieutenant general in front of him.
The lieutenant general looked far into the distance through the window, with his hands clasped behind his back. His beer belly easily touched the glass window. He squinted at the soldiers receiving training in the grounds. Slowly, he spoke to the captain, "I didn't think Edgar would make it out alive. It was an unexpected outcome. We made it sound like an effortless mission so that he would underestimate his enemy. But he turned to Brian Long for help." He had failed to predict that. After all, too many other factors were involved. "How about we reveal to the officials about what Edgar had done?" the captain suggested with an evil smirk.
The lieutenant general shook his head in disagreement. "What difference would it make?" He paused to think about what had happened, then continued, "Brian is a reliable person. So, why did he turn to Eric for help?" He turned around to look at his subordinate, waiting for his explanation. The captain looked confused.
The lieutenant general smiled and explained, "Let's assume that some confidential information of the Dragon Empire Group and the Dragon Island's National Congress was also leaked.
If that was the case, then everything that happened was just a coincidence. Both sides just happened to encounter each other on the way from the data bank. So, they offered each other a helping hand. In times of crisis, it's natural for acquaintances to provide assistance. Although such a coincidence is highly unlikely, considering Dragon Island's reputation, it is inappropriate to lie to the Ruler of the Dragon Island. But, considering Edgar's competence and his high level of intelligence, it is also possible that he was counting on such a coincidence.
So, it's better if we avoid offending people with power and getting ourselves into trouble." The lieutenant general patted his subordinate's shoulder when he saw his disappointed look. "Don't worry. We will replace lots of opportunities in the future. Haste makes waste. We should wait patiently, young man."
"Yes, sir!"
"You may leave now." He waved his subordinate off. The captain saluted and left the office. After the door was shut, the lieutenant general quickly dialed a number on his private phone. When the call connected, he spoke without any greeting, "What are you going to do to fix this issue?"
"It's your fault for making such poor arrangements. My manpower was compromised for nothing." The voice from the other side of the phone was idle and slow; it had an air of sophistication.
The lieutenant general burst out laughing. "Was it my mistake or yours?"
"Does it make any difference? Especially at this moment?" The man on the other side of the phone sneered, "Leo, I am not a man of great patience. If this happens again, I will not tolerate it and you will be in a lot of trouble."
The lieutenant general wasn't shaken by his threat, he growled back instead. "We are partners in crime. If I end up in trouble, you will be right there with me." After a small pause, he said, "Perhaps you need to take a break for a while. Don't let me down during the military drill next month." Saying that, he hung up without waiting for his reply. His eyes were clouded with a murderous look.

Maggie returned to the army camp the next day with some soup made by her mother, and headed straight to the clinic with a smile. However, when she reached Edgar's ward, she heard voices coming from the room.
Two privates were standing on guard outside the ward. When Maggie approached, they saluted her. She returned the salute and asked, "Who is inside?"
"Ma'am!" one of the privates answered. "The instructor from the artillery brigade."
Since Maggie had left the army and had received training elsewhere, she had little to no idea about the other brigades in the S Army besides the Eagle. When she heard that it was someone from the artillery brigade, her concern drove her to knock the door and report immediately.
"Come in."
Hearing Edgar's voice, Maggie opened the door and entered the ward. She took a quick glimpse at Edgar and then shifted her sight to the other side of the bed. A woman who was probably in her early thirties was standing next to Edgar's bed. She had the same military rank as Maggie, and seemed both competent and enchanting-the typically ideal kind of woman that men get obsessed with and the type that other women tended to envy. She stopped her train of thought to focus on Edgar. After saluting him, she reported, "Sir, the senior military officer sent me here to take care of you." After justifying her presence at the ward, Maggie squinted at the woman with contempt in order to trigger her anger and then glanced at Edgar. "Sir, please try my hand-made soup. " Maggie was never ashamed to take credit for Hana's cooking.
Claire stared at Maggie for a moment and quickly figured that she was into Edgar. As Maggie was busy preparing the soup for Edgar, Claire grinned and asked casually, "Edgar, is this the Maggie you mentioned earlier?"
Edgar nodded with a smirk. "Yeah."
Maggie was incredibly irritated to replace Claire call Edgar's name in such an intimate way. But she could not reveal her emotions.
"Well, since you have someone to look after you now, I guess I'll leave." Claire was that kind of woman who could see the entire picture. Although she was into Edgar for several years, she clearly knew when to move in and when to draw back from a relationship. "Let's talk later," she said, about to leave.
"Why not talk now?" Edgar asked, stopping Claire.
Just as Maggie was about to pass the soup bowl to Edgar, he said, "I'm good here. You may leave now." She froze with the soup bowl in her hands. But she recovered quickly, put the bowl back on the table and walked out of the ward reluctantly. Claire began to talk before the door was completely closed. "Edgar, is your colleague fond of you?"
Maggie overheard her. So, she stopped moving and left the door open with a small gap. "Why do you think so?" Edgar asked with a grin.
"Why not? You are competent and handsome, which makes you the perfect type for girls that age," Claire replied with an attractive smile. Edgar showed dissatisfaction on his face and questioned Claire with a fake frown, "Are you saying that only young girls are fond of me?" "Oh, no!" Claire was both earnest and playful. "I am one of those other women who is also into you."
"Please be careful. If I take your words seriously and it turns out that you are just joking, I will be drowning in sorrow for the rest of the day." Edgar and Claire laughed together.
Maggie didn't have the patience to continue listening to their conversation. Her overwhelming anxiety forced her to shut the door with a loud bang. She knew that the act was insulting to the superior officer, but she just couldn't control her temper.
Until that moment, Edgar and Claire were aware that the door was open. They both had a bizarre expression on their faces. Claire broke the silence first by mocking herself, "We're done for. It looks like we have made an irreversible joke. On a more serious note, Edgar, are you in a relationship with her? It would be bad if she misunderstood me."
"I'm not interested in younger girls." Edgar dissolved her concern without looking at her, but even as he uttered those words, he couldn't help thinking about the sweet kiss he and Maggie had shared that night. Maggie's lips were gentle, so was her tongue. It had the sweet flavor of milk. The memory woke his hormones and aroused his sexual desires.
Claire could sense that Edgar was acting weird, but since the emotions on his face were fleeting, she didn't notice it clearly. She was reassured by Edgar. "The Director of the military drill has decided to let the S Army be the Blue Force this time. I assume it will be a tough battle. With the artillery brigade as the frontline, the Sharp Blade Commando must rely on the Eagle's Falcon Commando."
When their conversation shifted to the military drill, Maggie found it meaningless to continue eavesdropping. She moved away from the door and said to the confused privates, "Take care of the Colonel."
"Yes, ma'am!"
Maggie pretended to not mind them at all, but the privates were conscious of it and looked at the closed door.
Maggie couldn't suppress the jealous flames in her mind. It was pretty obvious that the female instructor was flirting with Edgar, and he couldn't resist the charisma of such a pretty woman. She looked down at her flat chest and groaned. That lady's boobs were so large, it looked like they were about to pop out of her clothes. Overwhelmed by a sense of inferiority, Maggie murmured, "Wouldn't it be such an inconvenience to lie down on her stomach during training? Just be careful during missions. Your breasts are not going to help you win battles. Humph!" "Maggie?"
The familiar voice of a male caught Maggie's attention and her lips trembled when she saw him.
Enemies were bound to meet on a narrow road. But Maggie had never imagined that she would encounter this person in the army. It was such a dramatic setting. Why was he standing there, dressed in a military uniform? *000000000000
