Love Began with the First Meeting
Chapter 1299 Extra Story 54 Of Edgar The Relationship Is Decided

She was in a daze for a few seconds. Then she came back to herself abruptly. Standing in attention, she gave him a stout salute and greeted, "Good afternoon, sir." "Good afternoon," Edgar said, with a tinge of surprise in his voice. "Maggie Du, what are you doing here?"

"Sir, I was waiting for you," she answered frankly. Maggie had become cheeky lately, at least in front of Gordon and the guards who stood on duty at Edgar's office. She didn't care about what they would think. After all, they knew it clearly that she was trying to pursue Edgar. "Why were you waiting for me?" Edgar asked as he opened the door to his office. From the corner of his eye, he saw Gordon trying his best to refrain himself from bursting into laughter. He turned his head abruptly, startling Gordon. His refrained laughter turned into a violent cough.

Ignoring him, Edgar pushed the door wide open and walked in. Following him, Maggie went in after sticking her tongue out at Gordon. She was taking too much pleasure in his misfortune.

"Sir," Maggie said as she looked at Edgar with a jerky smile on her face. "We have nothing much to do this afternoon. I wanted to ask you if you are free during that time too." She hadn't intercepted Edgar successfully in the past few days. After she cleared the snow today, an idea had struck her and she wanted to come here to try her luck. To her surprise, she had made it into his office.

"Why?" Edgar asked, with a raised brow.

Curling her lips into a wide smile, Maggie said, "I was hoping we could take a walk in the training ground. Together." Edgar sniffled his laugh. "Why the training grounds? Why can't we go for a walk outside the military camp?"

"Sir, because there are too many people outside, so I was afraid that you would decline if I proposed that," Maggie explained, her voice doubtful. She darted a look at him, her eyes filled with complicated emotions, like she was silently complaining to him for not giving her a definite answer. She wanted to know what he was thinking. She didn't replace it interesting that he was keeping his thoughts a secret.

"Thanks for your consideration." Edgar said in an apathetic voice while carrying on with his routine work after coming back from outside the camp.

The corners of Maggie's mouth twitched. "Sir, that didn't sound funny at all," she complained.

Edgar didn't respond. He sat down behind his desk and pulled the intercom closer to him. First, he called the Falcon Commando, filling them up about their tasks for the following days. Then he called the sniper company to inquire about a suitable member to take charge of the training of their new recruits' special force. After he was done, he slowly said to Maggie, "As you can see "

"Sir, you're pretending to be busy so that you can escape from what's going on between us. I request you to please face this right now." She looked quite serious this time.

Edgar stared at Maggie. After a thought, he asked, "You are going back to your college soon, right?"

"Yes, sir!"

"Hmm," Edgar said.

Maggie waited for him to continue. However, Edgar didn't say anything else. She frowned. Fixing her eyes on Edgar, she asked, "That's it?"

Edgar smiled in response to her frustrated question. He asked, "I heard that Cathy is holding a small farewell party, isn't she?" After a short pause, he said firmly, "I will give you my answer after the party." Maggie's eyes shone brightly as soon as she heard Edgar's words. In order to prevent her from getting too excited, he added, "But I need to see your achievements before you leave the camp."

"Sir," Maggie said, pursing her lips. "I promise that I will not disappoint you!"

Edgar waved his hand, indicating that she could leave now. With a big smile on her face, Maggie gave him a salute and walked out of his office. She could hardly conceal her joy.

Gordon was standing outside the door. Since the door was not heavily soundproofed, he heard a few words here and there, but he could easily guess what had transpired inside from the look on Maggie's face. "So? Have you finally succeeded?" he asked out of curiosity. Maggie shook her head, but showed all her beautiful teeth. "The revolution has just begun! I still have work to do." She could no longer control the overwhelming joy. But she constrained from bursting into haughty laughter. "But the light of hope shines brighter than ever! Ha ha!"

She hopped away from the office and Gordon could not help but shake his head and smile unconsciously. Just as she left, Edgar called him from inside. In a hurry, he tidied up his uniform before he knocked at the door and walked in. "Sir," he said.

"Inform all the battalion commanders to bring their subordinates involved for a meeting here," Edgar ordered in an official tone.

"Yes, sir!" Gordon answered crisply and then turned around to leave. However, when he arrived at the door, he could no longer resist his curiosity. He asked, "Sir, you and Comrade Maggie Du-" His unspoken words were intercepted by the cold light emitting from Edgar's eyes. Hastily, Gordon said, "Please ignore that, sir! I don't know anything, and I haven't asked anything!" As soon as he finished rambling, he opened the door and fled.

Inside the office, Edgar shook his head and stood up from his chair. He walked to the window and looked out. Maggie was hopping along the road with a big smile on her face. She had completely forgotten about her rank as a military officer.

When he saw her carefree attitude, a smile gradually appeared at the corners of Edgar's lips. His sight on Maggie deepened. He figured it was time for him to say goodbye to his past. He should fall in love again, to enjoy the amazing feeling of loving someone and being loved in return.

Edgar was about to withdraw his sight from her. At that moment, he saw a squad of soldiers walking towards the building with their cleaning tools. In order to keep her image, Maggie tried to look steady. However, she lost her balance because of the snowy ground. She staggered several steps and nearly fell to the ground. Fortunately, the squad leader had sharp eyes and agile hands. He supported her, preventing her from falling face down on the snow.

Edgar's heart rose to his throat when she tripped. He could not help but shake his head when she was failing to keep steady on her feet. He began to wonder if it was really right of him to start a serious relationship with a girl who was twelve years younger than him. *10000
