Love Began with the First Meeting -
Chapter 501 You Can't Control A Human Heart (Part Two)
She tried so hard to finally be free from Brian but she, of all people, knew that Brian wouldn't give up just that easily. Even if he didn't really love her, he still wouldn't let anyone go near her with a ten-foot pole because he had too much pride for that. She wondered, 'Was it a mistake to keep Mark when I found out?' Frustrated, she took several deep breaths and took her time as she collected her emotions. She continued her train of thought, 'Brian's already taken away so much from me and I'm done arguing whose fault it was but why won't he let me go? Because if he wants a son, he can easily get that from so many other women not to mention Becky. So why would he be interested in Mark? And why did he want to take Mark away from me so bad?'
Her eyes were starting to hurt so she closed her eyes for a few moments. When she opened them, her vision started to blur. After her eye operation, she had cried for all the things that were happening to her then. She was suffering from sequelae, she hadn't slept well in days, and her vision was only getting worse.
A car screeched to a halt a few steps away from her out of nowhere.
Molly's vision cleared as she cast a quick glance at the car. She saw a woman stepping out of the car - this sight made Molly freeze.
"Hey, I didn't expect to see you here," Becky greeted as she closed the door. A yellow chiffon skirt beautifully hung from her shoulders, its hemline dancing along the breeze. Her silky hair dropped just below her shoulders, beautiful and prancing. She was the image of elegance. Standing in the dim light of the street lamps, she looked like a fairy.
Molly was just in her plain, old T-shirt, cut-off denim shorts, and worn out sneakers, looking like a regular college student who was just passing by.
As soon as Molly snapped out of her trance, she turned around in an attempt to leave and ignore Becky. But before she could even take another step, Becky asked her, "What's up? Are you still scared of me?" Becky jeered at Molly, a mocking smile plastered on her face. "Since you came that way, I'm guessing you just came from Grand Night, right? Come to see your lovely son? No? Oh, how unfortunate!"
Molly tried to repress her temper as she continued to take more steps away from Becky.
"Ruby," Becky said meaningfully as that was Molly's name as far as the Yan family was concerned, "Dad has missed you. When are you coming to visit him?"
This was when Molly lost it. She swiveled to face Becky and stared her down, "I only have one dad! And it's definitely not Rory!"
"Oh really?" Becky said casually. Then she added as an afterthought, "By the way, I heard Brian had to confirm if Mark was really his son by having a DNA test. Why don't you have one with dad too? So, everyone will know who you really are. Isn't that a great idea?" Molly scowled at Becky, disgusted at how low she was willing to go. Sometimes, she wondered how Brian ever loved a woman like this.
"Wait, how come your eyes are so red?" Becky moved two steps forward and observed carefully. "Alas! Did your body reject this pair of eyes? I think you'd better go to the hospital and have that checked up." Becky could see that Molly was already shaking in anger so she continued offhandedly, "Thank God, my eyes work like a charm. I was just at the hospital a few days ago to visit Felix and he told me that the new retínas have completely adjusted to my eyes. And that I don't need to worry about it anymore."
"Really?" Forcing her face into a smile, Molly said slowly, "Congratulations. But remember, what goes around comes back around."
Becky snickered, "Yes! You're right! You kept Brian's son away from him and now you're the one without a son!"
Becky was purposely going below the belt, she was purposely trying to trigger Molly. She watched as Molly's face changed and she relished this sight. Her eyes had an evil gleam to it.
Becky thought to herself, 'This is all your fault, Molly. If you hadn't sprouted out of nowhere, Brian and I would have been completely happy. We may even have a child by now. And since I can't get him back, so should you do. Just continue hating him, that's all I need. I don't care if Brian loves you because all I need is for you to turn Brian off and I can finally get back in the game.'
"Becky," Molly growled, "Well, Becky, the truth is I have a son with him and you don't. You didn't even have the chance. After all these years and you still haven't changed. You still laugh at other people's miseries. Becky, mark my words: You won't ever be happy. You'll live your whole life thinking that you're happy but deep down, you're actually miserable."
Molly cast an angry glance at her before turning around to finally leave. She decided she wasn't going to respond whatever Becky said or did. But that didn't mean that Becky's words hadn't already hurt her like sharp knives stabbed repeatedly throughout her body. Tears welled up in her eyes. She was suddenly feeling the pain of everything that had happened and to add to that, she really missed Mark. She did not want to see Brian at all but she missed Mark so much, she might not mind even if Brian was there as long as she got to see Mark.
Molly sat down at the curb, sobbing as she watched cars pass by. She didn't know how else to let out what she was feeling. The only way she knew how was to cry. This was her only way to release everything because she couldn't speak about any of this to anyone else.. 000000
