Love Began with the First Meeting -
Chapter 649 Return Of The Ring (Part Two)
Looking at the file, Lucy gave him a confused look. She was curious about what it contained, but instinctively refused to open it. She wanted to show Brian that she believed Jeff and she was right and he was wrong. Noting her confused expression, Brian snorted, "When a man wants to use woman, he goes straight for her biggest weakness." He paused and then said, "Her sensibility." Lucy looked up at him. Brian continued, "Lucy, you're John and Lisa's daughter. I'd hate for them to be sad. Although you've done so many things against me, I was ready to let you off lightly. But you hurt her and you shouldn't have," he said grimly. His eyes turned glacial to match his tone.
But his words had Lucy gritting her teeth. Fire spewing out of her eyes, she challenged, "So, kill me! And if you kill me, what are you going to tell my parents, huh?"
"Am I supposed to tell them anything?" Brian shot back with sarcasm. Irritated by her attitude, he turned around and spoke to his men. "Get rid of her." "Yes, sir!" they said.
The men started to approach Lucy. Frightened now, she screamed in a trembling voice, "Brian Long, you can't kill me! You have no right to kill me!" Brian ignored her screams and kept walking.
Two men held her by the arms. Lucy struggled, cried and cursed Brian. Without warning, a gun was pointed to her head. Suddenly, she started laughing. Sensing her end was nearing, a vicious look appeared in her eyes. Again she shouted at Brian. "Brian Long, perhaps Jeff used me. But I don't regret what I did for him even if I'm going to die for it. Because even if he doesn't love me, I love him! And though I'm dying, I am not alone. I can be together with him forever in the afterlife. You, however..." She stopped and broke into a maniacal laugh. "Ha! Ha! Ha!" Lucy sounded like a lunatic, and her eyes became redder. "Didn't you ever use Molly? Five years ago, didn't you use her? How about this time? You used her just like Jeff used me. The difference between us is that you love her as you did five years ago, but she doesn't love you anymore. She hates you so much that she doesn't even want to die with you!" Lucy laughed an eerie laugh again.
Brian stopped in his tracks. His eyes narrowed and dimmed quickly. After a few seconds, he opened his eyes and ordered menacingly, "Feed her to Black Wolf!"
He was never known to be soft-hearted. Lucy embarked on a path of death since she, with Jeff, started to conspire against Brian and Eric. For Lisa and John's sake, Brian had intended to end her life before Eric did to spare her the torture of the Shadow Organization. But she couldn't keep her mouth shut and made another terrible mistake that further provoked Brian.
Vincent shrugged and glanced at Lucy, who was still struggling. Then he jutted his chin. The men received the signal and started hauling her towards the backyard as Lucy screamed and cursed.
After Lucy was dragged away screaming and thrashing wildly, the room became oddly quiet.
Vincent came back in the room after his men had finished dragging her outside. He stepped forward and frowned when he saw how upset Brian was. "Mr. Brian Long..."
Brian looked up at him in a flash and ordered ruthlessly in a clear, commanding voice, "Get rid of all the remaining ones in Jeff's faction within three days. Make sure no one lives!"
"Yes, Sir!" Vincent obeyed his order. When Brian left, he looked behind him and sighed deeply. Before, he had only heard from Harrow about Brian and Molly's relationship. He never really thought about them but now he had seen for himself how much Molly really meant to Brian.
After a few minutes Vincent went out of the room and went towards the backyard. Within his peripheral vision he watched Lucy being dragged towards Black Wolf's cage. The beast barked when it saw them approaching.
Black Wolf was a cub Brian had found during a drill in Hell Forest before. It was a cross-breed between a mastiff and a wolf. It was as wild as the wolf, as ferocious as the mastiff, and as bloodthirsty as both of them. No one would want to be gnawed alive with its long sharp fangs.
"Aahhhhhh!"
Lucy let out a litany of shrill cries upon seeing the huge wild dog. Black Wolf kept barking loudly. Whether it was angry because someone had invaded its territory or it was excited at seeing its new feast, no one knew. Vincent turned around silently and left. Blood-curdling screams filled the backyard as the dog teared through Lucy's flesh as the wolf-dog hybrid continued to eat her alive. Vincent just remained emotionless even as her shrieks rang in his ears. Whoever messed with Brian would have a sticky, fang-filled end. 'She could have died more miserably. Too bad, he thought.
A man in black spoke up. "Vincent, the result from the test of the substance in the syringe is out." It was the same man who had saved Molly's life yesterday. "It is a drug causing quick withering of the heart. Once injected, the person has to have a new heart within three days. Otherwise, they will die of angina pectoris." the man continued.
Vincent took the syringe from him and twirled it in his hand. The clear plastic tube still contained some droplets from the poison. He examined it closely and asked, "Is this stuff that potent?"
"Yes, it is. It is usually used by hunters on elephants in Africa. 20 ml is enough to kill an elephant instantly," the man in black explained.
Vincent looked at the man in surprise. He turned back to look at Black Wolf's cage. Nothing could be seen behind the large dog's body, only feeble cries could be heard. "Does Mr. Brian Long know about this?" he asked the man.
The man thought about it a bit and answered hesitantly, "I think so. I already called him about it, but he didn't say anything. He didn't order a test on its ingredients either."
"She is rather lucky to die in Black Wolf's mouth," Vincent commented. He then tossed the syringe away and left.
The man caught the syringe with both hands. He looked at Vincent's receding back and then at the cage which now contained only the wolf-dog and chewed up body parts. He just shrugged and observed the sky. It was gray and overcast which made it almost depressing to look at, just like the atmosphere in the manor. The humid warm air was mixed with the tangy smell of blood. "What's the point of all this killing?"
the man muttered and left too. The manor was quiet again, save for the disturbing gnawing and chewing of sharp teeth coming from the backyard.
The car ran smoothly on the quiet, traffic-free road. Brian looked at the road ahead icily.
At that moment, the handheld telephone on the dashboard started ringing. He drove with one hand and pressed the answer button and put it on loudspeaker. The phone connected and a sweet voice began, "Brian, Mark's operation was successful!" It was Wing who sounded very happy.
*Screech!*
Brian stopped the car all of a sudden. Its wheels managed to swerve on the roadside. His eyes brightened. "How is he?" he asked. 00000000☐☐☐☐☐☐
