Love Began with the First Meeting -
Chapter 696 Spark Was Kidnapped! (Part Two)
The men slammed the door shut, locking Spark inside the car. Although he was now trapped in the car, it was noticed by some people who happened to pass by. Some were curious, and others were scared. No one could do anything else but stare helplessly as they drove away, accelerating out of the street.
With mouth agape, Little Cutie blinked excessively while watching the situation that transpired. For a while, she, too, couldn't replace it in her to react to what was happening. When she finally composed herself, the business car was already too far, but still within sight. She hastily hailed a taxi, jumped into it, and told the taxi driver, "Please, follow that business car over there! Hurry!"
Little Cutie was breathing heavily. While she didn't know what to do exactly, she kept a close eye on the business car before them, urging the driver to stay close. Suddenly, she thought of Molly. 'Yes,' she thought frantically, 'Molly would know what to do.' She took out her phone and dialed Molly's number. She listened to the phone ring while staring at the business car.
Her fingers trembled in fear, and for a few times, she would drop her phone beside her. Despite such crippling emotions overwhelming Little Cutie, she did her best to wait for Molly to answer.
Molly was sitting on a bench, looking at the sun move towards the west all day. She wore a dull and blank expression, deep in thought. Trapped, it was all she was allowed to do. Black Wolf whimpered from time to time, his big head always searching for a comfortable position. Looking at the men in black who walked in front of him, the dog blinked weakly. He changed his position a few more times before finally settling and closing his eyes.
Molly didn't eat the entire day, and neither did Black Wolf. While Molly's case was due to not having an appetite, poor Black Wolf was simply forbidden to eat. Molly didn't naturally consider whether Black Wolf ate or not. But this time, it was different because she might have had something to do with the dog's misfortune.
Before Brian left, he ordered everyone not to feed Black Wolf for three days. That they were only allowed to offer him water, and nothing else. Everyone was at a loss. It was such a severe punishment for Black Wolf. After all, he was the only animal that Brian really cared about. Some speculated that it was because Black Wolf attacked Molly. But people had come forward to deny the allegation, explaining that Black Wolf was only showing her affection in the only way he knew. During that time, while everyone was puzzled, Brian's facial expression grew darker. Only Tony could guess correctly why Black Wolf was really being punished. It was because he had his paws on a particular part of Molly's body, someplace where it had no business being there.
The afterglow of the sunset presented its final beauty, revealing the calm before the storm.
When Molly's phone rang, she pushed her empty thoughts aside and answered it. When she heard Little Cutie speak in a rapid and distressed manner, her facial expression changed almost at once. "What? Slow down, Little Cutie. What did you just say?" Molly asked. She couldn't believe her ears.
Little Cutie swallowed her anxiety and tried again, "Molly. Spark was taken away by Mr. Brian Long's people. But I can sense that something is off."
Hearing this, Molly almost couldn't breathe. Anxiously, she asked, "What happened?"
"I don't know either," said Little Cutie genuinely. "I'm following the car right now. Please, just come... oh no," Little Cutie sounded more worried, "I don't know where I am right now." Panicking, Little Cutie continued to ramble incoherently, "No. Maybe I should call the police first-"
"No!" Molly spat out immediately without thinking. All she knew was that she had to stop Little Cutie. She guessed that Brian really had something to do with Spark's kidnapping. The phrase that Brian told her earlier, "And the crueler things are waiting for you," echoed in her head. She said, sounding determined, "You can't call the police."
"But why?" asked Little Cutie, a bit surprised.
"Don't ask any more questions. Anyway, you really shouldn't call the police," Molly said hastily. "Little Cutie, you shouldn't have gotten involved in the first place. Don't meddle anymore, and keep your distance. When you know your location, just tell me. I'll replace a way to be there." Little Cutie looked at the speeding car, and then at taxi diver who was glancing at her. "Okay," she replied, "I'll keep following them then. Call you later."
"You need to be very careful, Little Cutie. Take care of yourself!" Molly said, and hung up the phone. Although Molly worried about Little Cutie, she knew that Brian wouldn't do anything to harm her. But as long as he had Spark in his possession, he also had his fingers wrapped tightly around her heart.
As Little Cutie put down her phone, she kept prodding the driver to go faster. The driver asked calmly, "Do you really not intend to call the police?"
"No!" responded Little Cutie reflexively as she looked at the driver with wide eyes.
"Don't look at me like that," said the driver, who appeared to be very calm. "I used to be a soldier, and after I was retired, I started to work as a mere driver. I've seen a lot like that happen." Looking through the rearview mirror, he added casually, "It's not something new anymore in A city." Little Cutie barely managed to force a nervous laugh.
While Little Cutie was chasing after the business car, Molly in the manor nervously jogged in circles. Squatting down innocently, Black Wolf had his eyes trailed on the troubled woman.
"Woof, woof!" Black Wolf barked, as if he were confused and displeased by Molly's behavior.
Molly had a look at Black Wolf. She wasn't in the mood to play with him. She had more pressing matters to do. As she gazed at the men in black standing still like wooden poles, she continued to march back and forth in the yard. "How am I going to get out of here?" she muttered to herself.
She had to replace a way to get out and go after Little Cutie. It was her biggest concern at the moment.
"Woof, woof! Woof!" Black Wolf lay on the ground, blinking, as his gaze continued to follow Molly wherever she paced.
Just then, one of the men in black walked up to her from nowhere. He respectfully, but curtly, asked, "Mrs. Molly Long, is there something I can do for you?"
Molly halted, and shot the man in black a disbelieving look before saying, "I need to go out now!"
"I'm sorry," replied the man, unaffected by her tone. "Other than leaving the manor, Mrs. Molly Long can ask me to do anything else."
"Anything?" Molly asked, sniffing passively.
"Yes ma'am," the man replied firmly.
"In that case," said Molly, "I want you all to stay in the front yard. I don't want to see any of your faces around here!"
The man in block frowned a bit, gave it some thought, and then answered, "As you wish, ma'am," He gestured at all the men who were guarding her. Several men respectfully bowed to Molly at once, after which, without any questions, they all moved to the front yard. "Mrs. Molly Long, if you need anything else, please give us your order through Channel One," The man then handed over a walkie-talkie to Molly. As soon as she took it, he bowed down slightly and went to the front yard as well, leaving her all alone with Black Wolf.
